When I was in high school...1969...1970...use to write letters everyday to the guys I knew who were in Viet Nam...I would send a letter every single day to my friends, and my brothers friends who were in Nam. A letter only cost about 4 or 5 cents. I would send a letter every single day when I came home from school just to let them know I was thinking about them.
sorry, one must listen to this in a prerestore 1965 mustang ragtop. nothing like it especially with no disc brakes! (long story, nothing left to say, good ol' days)
God, I miss protest music. Where are the rebels of this age? It's an American tradition. Are today's artists so content w/ getting laid and getting paid that they just don't care about anything?
Amen! Thats with all music these days it would seem. How sad. This kinda music we will never experience again. the kind with real hart and soul. This song reminds me of my grandpa who served WWII. They came home so screwed up. God bless em all.
The new generation of Eminem.. XD hahaha XD Yeah the Animals is my favorite band ever. I have a 1978 Ford F-150 and I cruise around in it and listen to The Animals like top notch. It's the best.. :D
Well, now its 'uncool' to make a song about anything relevant or that has a message beyond, like you said, money and sex. I think it is the masses that create the demand for songs and now the masses just say they want songs like what you hear on the pop stations.
This song itself was, and is, a pop song. We can just see it in a different light because we have our own pop songs to compare it to.
@dawnssister Well there's awesome protest songs "Wake me up when september ends" ... LOL, just kidding, Man you're right and talking for all the people watching this kind of videos we miss 60's and 70's.
I played this song endlessly on holiday in 1971. I hadn't heard it since then. Such a sweet and tender memory. Pt 1 & Pt 2 on a 7" record as I remember. Thanks so much.
the song is a journey through hell, but we need it from the sidelines..peace!

@phoneix91

I used to call into the radio sation here in NYC(92.3 K-ROCK) on the over nights and request this song !
They'd often play it, I think because they needed along song so they could go to the bathroom.
Great tune either way !
