Tell me why... I liked C64, I have 2 of them :-), I had Atari ST and still have a lot of them, I have even Atari XE, I'm looking for some ZX stuff... I just love these machines. I spent some time with them to relax, when I have some free time. I have enough PCs and modern stuff each day, not having the same amount of fun. I bought C16 one day. I thought it will be awful. But, you know, I've found this computer really interesting. I think 264 models are really underrated. I like them :-)
I believe that the 264 series with all it's limitations meant that some of the best programmers wanted to push as much out of it as possible such as Shaun Southern, Udo Gertz, T Kelly., Borh graphically and also with great gameplay. There are a number of games which are better than it's C64 version, BMX Racers, arguably Kikstart which is a different game. Trailblazer was also first concieved on the C16.
@16plus4equals264 :interesting, but I wouldn't swap my C=64 for a c=16. Maybe I try emulator, but there are so many great and cool looking games for the Commodore 64 that I am still not done with checking it all and I am collecting C=64 stuff since 1984.
Haha, believe me that I seriously thought about uploading a complete walkthrough of Tom16. But you do realise just how huge the game is?
Also I would lose so many Tom-lives along the way, it will take ages to complete and hours to view, and will be a real pain to do an edited version of the whole game which will still be more or less feature length, but this I guess is at least more workable.
So it's not to say I never think about it. I just hope somebody else does it first lol.
A very impressive game this was for the C16, and actually far better than the C64 version (which had muddy graphics and the most grating excuse for background music ever coded). However, having played it through with the infinite continues cheat (which I would consider essential ...) and been disappointed at the total lack of an end sequence, I am now very pleased I did not try to soldier on through act 2 in the hope of finding one ...
Oh, how I loved this game when I was a girl!

Welcome to the world of 264. A great choice :)

I agree they're so under-rated machines.

In my opinion this is the most complex game on C16/C116.
I played this for many hours back in those times. Today I still love to play the game, mostly on PDA emulator or on the real Plus/4 machine.
Its amazing this huge map just fit in 16kb of ram :)
This bug maybe was planed by Udo to finaly finish this game... but Im not sure.
