I think this mix fits really well with the song's feel in general. Soloist- thank you for finding your own voice in this song! Not that you need anyone's input, but I think it fits really well with this arrangement. This isn't a silly rearrangement of the GREAT Coldplay song. You guys took this and made it yours and the build works the best for me out of any A Capella version I've heard. It's just really great, original, and beautiful. Thank you for doing your own song.
Although I will agree with you solely that the soloist here has some better stylistic differences than RO's, he loses his places in the song. If you want to compare RO to this, please bring something more to the table...for example, the two "tears stream" sections are completely different and I enjoy the RO version more. Different performances and arrangements.

We just added in the melody and lyrics from their other song "The Scientist." We like to remix stuff like that. I don't believe Coldplay ever did it. Thanks for the comment!
yea thnx. i just cameback from a trip to the philippines and i was flipping through the radio stations they had there and i heard coldplay right when they were singing those exact lyrics (what luck eh) and i said, hey wait a minute this isn't 'fix you'. at that point i realized it was from another song.
Actually, no. The only song we do a half step down is "With or Without You." We do "Fix You" (this song) an entire 5th up (or 4th down, depending on perspective). And we do "Not Ready to Make Nice" a half step UP. So no, we don't do every song a half step down. I don't think it would be bad to do so; I'm just letting you know that we don't.
