I happened to turn the television on hbo and the end of sex and the city 2 was going off, I recognized Jennifer's voice but I couldn't recognized the other exquisite sounding voice. After hearing the song I had to hear it again. Both women sounded beauitiful. I must say I have not heard a song that has moved me in this way in a very long time. "Just when you've thought you've heard it all" here comes a sound to wake your heart up.

They both have amazing vibrato, but if I had to pick I like Leona's vibrato/belting better. It's fuller and has more warmth/sweetness to it, which is a very unique combination.
Both voices are as powerful, but Leona keeps a warmer tone in high pitch, Jhud voice thinned out a little. But anyway those TWO are for me the best voices right now. And I'm glad this duet exist, even if it could have been on a better song (like Carey/Houston or Streisand/Dion)

@MrJudube You might be right, but I still think Leona's voice is more beautiful on high belts. Jhud belts at 3:15 and Leona does this exact same note at 3:20 and she sounds fuller and add a very fast vibrato, which is quite impressive.
@theoneandonly2503 just enjoy the music, understands this is the way the producers produced the song, so that they can sound like they are actually singing the same song and not trying to out do one another. they blend perfectly, just like the outstanding duet, Mariah and Whitney did, or Whitney and Deborah Cox. All great female vocalist on their own and even better together.
HATERS can say what you like, but Jennifer Hudson is the best female vocalist in the business today hands down. Jen got the haters coming from all over. Mainly now that she has drop alot of weight, and looking very gorgeous. A true super star with very much class.
Jennifer wails too much and that's pretty much the only problem I have with her voice. The only thing about Leona here is her voice sounded TOO soft in this compared to Jennifer's but I prefer her sound over Jennifer's. Plus I don't like her singing R&B like this either. The song does nothing for either of them.
I honestly don't know how this turned into a Jennifer vs Leona vocal battle. They're both amazingggg. Can't we leave it at that? The factsss are that Jennifer has more power, Leona has more range. Leona has been noted to "know her voice more than any other singer out there." If it makes a difference, Simon Cowell said Leona after she sang Summertime on the x factor "across idol, across all the other shows, you are absolutely the best contestant I've ever had across any of these shows"
leona is ok. she doesn't know how to control her vibratos. in the beginning, her vibratos are slow and when she starts singing high, it speeds up. it's evident in all of her songs! it's inconsistent. it seems as if she is forcing it rather than controlling it. i'm just sayin.
I heard she was turning into a real diva. The bad kind....She made her entire crew eat nothing but veggie food on tour and they'd be fired if they ate anything else. I love leona but....wow. She was such a sweet heart.

You can't compare the two because they have completely different vocal styles. Leona is brilliant but as is Jennifer. Whilst Leona is great at the ballads, Jennifer's voice is perfect for the more soulful numbers. I can't see Leona pulling off "And I am telling you".; something "gutsy". Either way both are great and I'm loving this song!! :-D

I don't know why. She's a talented singer and I know she has done more up tempo songs " but I can't see her doing THAT particular song. Umm, what exactly is supposed to be embarrassing for Jennifer? Both Jennifer and Leona are wonderful artists in their own respective rights. Jennifer has absolutely nothing to be EMBARRASSED about. The fact that she has recently dropped 10 dress sizes, shooting a new movie in Africa, is a triple threat in entertainment, and is BACK on the SAC soundtrack (all which =$) solidifies her as being a proud glamorous woman. For someone who's had a lifetime of operatic vocal training, I'd expect more from Leona.

Like I said before, every great female artist has their strengths and weaknesses. Leona is a great singer, despite her dull tone. Her incomparable skills is her head voice, but that's it.
As long as it's on key, roaring high is singing. It doesn't mean that it makes that artist the best singer in the world, it just shows that they have their own gifts that makes them incomparable.

Beyonce has flawless technique flawless placement brilliant breath support, rhythmic sensibility, she creates musical lines with her runs. Her voice us more full and rounded and she has a better lower register a more agile versatile and flexible belting range and a more powerful operatic agile full head voice. It's no competition.

Both voices are as powerful, but Leona keeps a warmer tone in high pitch, Jhud voice thinned out a little. But anyway those TWO are for me the best voices right now. And I'm glad this duet exist, even if it could have been on a better song (like Carey/Houston or Streisand/Dion)

@MrJudube You might be right, but I still think Leona's voice is more beautiful on high belts. Jhud belts at 3:15 and Leona does this exact same note at 3:20 and she sounds fuller and add a very fast vibrato, which is quite impressive.

All great female vocalist on their own and even better together.

Jennifer wails too much and that's pretty much the only problem I have with her voice. The only thing about Leona here is her voice sounded TOO soft in this compared to Jennifer's but I prefer her sound over Jennifer's. Plus I don't like her singing R&B like this either. The song does nothing for either of them.

I honestly don't know how this turned into a Jennifer vs Leona vocal battle. They're both amazingggg. Can't we leave it at that? The factsss are that Jennifer has more power, Leona has more range. Leona has been noted to "know her voice more than any other singer out there." leona is ok. she doesn't know how to control her vibratos. in the beginning, her vibratos are slow and when she starts singing high, it speeds up. it's evident in all of her songs! it's inconsistent. it seems as if she is forcing it rather than controlling it. i'm just sayin.

I think Jennifer Hudson hasn't been given enough credit here.
You can't compare the two because they have completely different vocal styles. Leona is brilliant but as is Jennifer. Whilst Leona is great at the ballads, Jennifer's voice is perfect for the more soulful numbers. I can't see Leona pulling off "And I am telling you".; something "gutsy". Either way both are great and I'm loving this song!! :-D

Her second cd wasn't as successful as the first I agree- but once she starts promoting her world tour in north america, I have hopes it'll pick up. at least I hope it will - she's amazing and doesn't deserve to be a one hit wonder.

Umm, what exactly is supposed to be embarrassing for Jennifer? Both Jennifer and Leona are wonderful artists in their own respective rights. Jennifer has absolutely nothing to be EMBARRASSED about. The fact that she has recently dropped 10 dress sizes, shooting a new movie in Africa, is a triple threat in entertainment, and is BACK on the SAC soundtrack (all which =$) solidifies her as being a proud glamorous woman. This song is amazing and I believe that both women did a fabulous job;)

She only has 3 octaves (Jennifer & Christina has 4), she can't hit low notes very well (Beyonce & Alexandra can), and the only thing spectacular about her tone is when she goes into head voice. For someone who's had a lifetime of operatic vocal training, I'd expect more from Leona.

@DaJokern If you look back at my previous comments, I explained that to you three seperate times already, and I don't have the patients to repeat myself yet again.
All the female singers with big voices, including Leona, are loud when they sing. You're right--having the loudest voice is not the same as having the strongest voice and in my opinion, Leona is a perfect example of that.

Its 3.2 octave of what she has shown in these vids - I know for sure.
Many believe she is able to sing four octave if she wants.
The limits isnt 3.

Your rite... And she also can go into the whistle register and thats high!! So that wud take her to about a 4!! So I agree with you.
