This administration stopped funding the Nunn-Lugar initiative which began in '92 under the 1st Bush administration. Since you probably don't know what this is I'll have to explain it to you: Briefly, we allocated a fund to buy back the atomic weapons of the old Soviet Union in order that they not end up in the hands of people like Bin Ladin. This administraion thought this was a waste of money and preferred to give the money to their corporate friends in the form of tax cuts! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

These "bad people" have always had dangerous weapons BECAUSE WE PROBABLY GAVE (OR SOLD) IT TO THEM!!! Rush Limbaugh in '88 ripped the Dems for criticizing Reagan's sale of poison gas components to Saddam knowing that he would be using them on his own people. Reagan even squelched a Senate rebuke of Iraq for the gas attack on Halabja (Kurdish Iraqi village) in March of '88!! Why don't people like you know stuff like this?!!!

The Saudi Royal family has been one of the biggest supporters of radical Islam and yet Bush refuses to criticize them. Could the fact that their money has made the Bushs rich have anything to do with it? Oh, and there is the long-standing business relationship with the rich Bin Ladin family. On the morning of 9/11 Daddy Bush was at a meeting of the Carlyle Group with two members of the Bin Ladin family. Did you hear any of this from that famous "liberal" media. No, huh?

We might have chosen to take out Iraq at a later date, but we would at least have strengthened our position in the Mid East and, ideally, been more successful at taking out some of our particularly nasty enemys QUIETLY. What I object to, of course, is when one side starts, as you mentioned, chest thumping, and tries to take the high ground. Unfortunately, when politics are concerned, the ground is uniformly low. A sink-hole of vice and corruption, regardless of the party.

adamrosemead--Finally, something on which we can both agree. I have always said that the stain covers both parties, and that not one of the politicos can claim to be without blame. And, if MY world, the two countries I would have targeted (not necessarily with my missle launcher, mind you) would have been Saudi Arabia and Syria. I have always been critical of the choice to zero in on Iraq, and wonder how things might be if we stayed in Afghanistan and shored up our strength there.

The decision by the Dems (also loyal servants of the system)not to participate in the Mich/Flor primaries had nothing to do with superdelegates.
The most liberal candidate running the last few presidential cycles has been Ralph Nader so why has the "liberal" media all but ignored him? He is someone who would attempt to put the concerns of the American people ahead of the profits of the corporations so now we are left with two corporate Dems whose platforms are almost identical.

Clarification: The Repub legislatures of Michigan & Florida decided to deliberately put in conflict the primaries of these two states with rulings by the national Dem committee that only 4 other states be allowed to hold primaries before Feb 5 of '08. The Dem candidates promised NOT to run in those two states but Hillary reneged on her promise and won these two primaries by running unopposed by Obama. In other words she cheated and wants her votes in those two states to still count!!!
