his films have very big and tragic moments, he represented the human nature like nobody else, beside this, he great superb masterpieces, he was in my humble opinion the best movie director in history.
better than the american directors ... actually they are not americans ... all italians ... americans are low life motherfuckers ... japanese people hate americans .. so do i.
@AliJalal93 You dumb fuck, what do you think americans are? We are made up of all peoples in varying percentages...Coppola, and Scorsese are american, not italian; like me they may be of that descent, but their primary cultural roots are americana. Enjoy your sand dunes towel-head.
@AliJalal93 You are a moron. All the native from the east coast of America initially migrated from northern Europe, as proved by recent DNA studies. So your asshole stereotype that the US belongs to natives, has no basis in fact, much like all you say.
@AliJalal93 All of this hate isn't very helpful to you or your fellow human beings. I thought we were watching a video about a director. How does it come to this hate talk? How can you hate someone you've never seen or heard speak? People are people. Judge them on their own actions not people's actions. If you judge everybody to be like the worst members of their race then we're all equally shitty.
@LongJonBronze i don't know but the whole plot/story and of course toshiro mifune's acting is just marvellous. i'm a big kurosawa fan he's one of my idols!

in his day kurosawa was an innovator in cinema... if he was alive he's be making movies like "avatar". they didnt have the technology in his day to create film as beautiful and 3dimensional as "avatar". he was certainly talented by 50's standards, especially when he was finally able to take advantage of the emerging colorization technology.
Kurosawa for sure wouldn't put a bad script like that of Avatar on film. Quote from Kurosawa:
"With a good script, a good director can produce a masterpiece. With the same script, a mediocre director can produce a passable film. But with a bad script even a good director can't possibly make a good film. For truly cinematic expression, the camera and the microphone must be able to cross both fire and water. The script must be something that has the power to do this."
@Hanz780 now don't be comparing avatar to kurosawa. avatar was'nt a bad movie. actuallly pretty damn good. but nothing can compare to kurosawa. thats a given.
speaking of avatar i think japanese anime and disney movies were great masterpiece.expressing many things wihtout cg yet outstanding..but3d art has its own beauty and style
So true. 'Avatar' is incredibly overrated and the battle sequences are so badly staged and look insignificant in comparison to what Kurosawa's war samurai/war films.
Viewing Kurosawa's works you should start with his best, Seven Samurai. Then High and Low. Then the great color film Ran. He is an artist in the ranks of Mozart , Michelangelo, Van Gogh, and John Ford. His films ARE important.
@brisco42 I remember starting with Rashomon then Seven Samurai, Ran, Kagemusha, Sanjuro, Yojimbo, Dreams, Madadayo, and Hidden Fortress, still am with his first films then later his post-war films. I agree, his works are important and still are significant to cinema.
@AutomatedCritic I also love Drunken Angel, his first film with actor Toshiro Mifune. I agree with you on those films you picked. I do like Sanjuro over Yojimbo. And it's funny because I always liked For A Few Dollars More than A Fistful Of Dollars which these two Leone films are based after. Bad Sleep Well also a very underrated film by Kurosawa.
@brisco42 The likes of Ran and Kagemusha are epic in that they are true art masterpieces, but as movies they don't cut it for me. To me, Dersu Uzala and Ikiru work better as films because they are more powerful in captivating an audience. But either way, that's what makes Kurosawa if not the greatest, one of the greatest film makers of all times, his mastery of this art form is unique, so diverse, so beautiful, so wittily done. A legend that will live forever.
i just watched ame agaru again last night, it's beautiful... to those who haven't seen it yet and who love kurosawa, you should definitely check it out
