  • I learned to play trumpet from my father pretty much as soon as I could hold the thing to my mouth. In the sixties, I remember Herb Alpert's music and actually played along with most of his songs (the ones I could manage at least.) His music offered a light, contemporary and classy sound featuring the king of instruments, the venerable trumpet. I was lucky to live through those musical times, and as a horn player was very fortunate to have great instrumentalists like Herb Alpert to emulate.

  • So relaxing- along with the other rock albums one would expect a junior high student might have- was Going Places- and I've always loved it. My sister had Taste of Honey.

  • First heard this rendition in 1966. Who else did it? Bert Kaempfert? But the TJB's version is my favorite still.

  • This album and Whipped Cream and Other Delights are my first music memory. My Grandmother owned them, and I used to spend hours as an infant listening to her play them. She used to say I lit up like a candle and started dancing when I heard this music. I was 2 -3.

  • just a buncha noisy parps.

  • I was 7 when my older step-brother (25) got married and moved out, and when he went, THIS was among the LPs he left behind that I then gladly adopted (stole?). Fantastic music.

  • @SaschaDuda this may be the best instumental album of all time!

  • @roselandalvin I'm an instrumental fan, too! My mom had this album for 23 years & now it's been MINE for 23 years -spooky! Come check out my 600 playlists that include the best instrumentalists from around the world, over 12000 tunes so far. It might be some of the best music you've never heard, & all thanks to those who post the music! chuck

  • @SaschaDuda

What you wrote astonished me! I was in my young teens and loved Herb Alpert's music. By doing a paper round and saving Xmas gift money, bought every HA album I could get. Then, my shithead older brother moved out and took the whole lot with him. I now have the albums all on CD and he's an unemployed, divorced drunkard. What goes around, comes around.
