  • Like all your videos, clear and inspiring! Thanks for this. I find that the chocalho is the loudest samba instrument to play and my ears ring immediately unless I wear ear protection.

  • Excellent! Is chocalho with jingles such as this also referred to as "rocar"?

  • @NRHarris They use both names for this instrument, but most of the time when the jingles are inside the metal frame, they call it chocalho. When the jingles are at the outside and in the middle is a wooden or metal bar, they call it rocar.
