Hi, I saw your video oddly through some third party download site which had me download some .flv file... anyways...I wanted to ask you if the backlight is flourescent or LED? I am not sure what to assume for a device from 2008? Thank you for hacking the n800 apart for the rest of us!
@OldTimeyJunk There are a lot of N8x0s still running around. Perhaps one day someone will manage to get a fully free kernel to work on it. I'm not counting on Nokia though.
@MaGaO Yeah, too bad Ubuntu doesn't work properly on it (Sound is broke) and Angstrom is still buggy and I can never see it finishing development, but that's not there fault (too many damn phones on the market).
Gracias a ti, he podido arreglar mi N800, que llevaba días sin prender, y como vivo en la ciudad de México aquí no hay donde los reparen, así que ya estaba a punto de tirarlo, gracias en verdad.
Thank you, I could fix my N800, which took days without turn on, I'm Mexican and here are no repair, so I was about to throw it away, thank you so much.
P.D. Sorry for my english,I'm student and I don't speak very well english.
am i right that certain products have special screws that you cant open with an ordinary screwdriver and that you need a special screwdriver where you have to pay a LICENSE for to use it??
Ya, im on my n800 posting this now. The "chip" aat 35 is the second sd card, it holds 2 sd cards, although it is very picky about the iinternal one. The cpu would be alot harder than that to remove.
Can you play online games on this device? Anyway, cool video - the dissection was flawless. It would take me ages to dissect something like that - did u rehearse? :)
Not yet - maybe someone is developing for it. The webcam use is currently ONLY for the Nokia video calls, but I expect development to include Google Talk, Skype, and maybe AIM/Yahoo/MSN if people get around to coding for it.

Yeah, and your battery would last about 10 seconds....oh wait, somehow I don't think the stock battery can handle a TDP of 125 watts. :)

lmao @ the memory card, that looked so damn funny. :D Overall, very nice job. :) The longest part was the final system load. :)
DeathBringerxWX 4 years ago
Yeah. It'd have been easier if the label on the memory card didn't peel back and stick in the slot. Thanks for the comment!

it was fun taking it apart. the hardest part for me was finding were the screws were.

Not currently, but with the Linux core it is not unforeseeable.

WTF..if U where more relaxed U could do faster than that..aniway whats the point.
vitto 5 years ago
The video is sped up intentionally. The memory card stuck because the label snagged and peeled back. The point, of course, is curiousity.
thoughtfix 5 years ago
does this mean we can change the processor on this or some manually add an sd card slot
