I'd just like to say, your video walkthrough of this has been a phenomenal help. Thanks to you, I just attached my first waterblock and I'm about to move onto the second. Thanks for taking the time to enlighten the rest of us! I couldn't have done it without you.
And just a tip for any other newbs out there- be CAREFUL when you're taking out the screws. The heads can strip easy, and I had to drill two screws out with a power drill.
The most interesting part for me would be where you put the thermal pads to the water block, since it's puzzling where to use a thin one, where to use a thick one...
@0pTicaL823 OCZ Freeze is a nice product, but why cheap out on the difference of price on thermal paste? I can understand buying cheaper stuff if one is building a $600 computer, but anything for gaming...the extra $4 bucks or so makes it worth it. You are correct, good contact and application are big factors, but if you start with the best compound, you can't go wrong. :)
@Trubyd44 well but the koolance paste did quite good job on your videos so it's not bothering me :D but it's gonna take another week before i can install this block cause the seller send me wrong nozzles :( and i ordered wrong tubing so double FAIL :D
Great job bud, I am also new to water cooling so this was just what I was looking for. I was a little worried about having to WC but you have made it look pretty simple. I have 2 480's and I only have 1 installed because it's so hot. I had 2 295's and the temps weren't nearly as bad as the 480. koolance is exactly what I've been looking to get so this video fits my situation perfectly. Again, NICE WORK and thanks.
@jaapie4444 Glad I could help...I do recommend using IC Diamond instead of the Koolance thermal paste though. Watch my latest video and the two cards with IC Diamond are a lot cooler. Koolance has made a very good waterblock.
any chance you can show a video of how you set these cards up in your water cooling system? im looking to get into water cooling and would like to see a demo or at least what it looks like correctly w/o all the music and crap other people do.
@EricThaKeng I will try and get some video...sometimes I get excited while I'm building I don't want to have to worry about the effort that goes into taping it and making it 'right.' We'll see. Got my case today and everything I need. Keep watch.
@KingGiac It can be, it all depends what type of paste you are using. The Koolance pack is proportioned out for a single use. It actually looks like more then there is in the pack. Another factor is viscosity of the paste. Higher viscosity like the one here can be applied more liberally with less chance of air bubbles.
Did you see trubitors video with the GTX 480 against the 5970 for tesselation, The GTX 480 came out ahead. Very impressive for upcoming DX11 games. Great video series. Awesome details. Thank you.
anyone can hellp me please?
im trying to find some led's like those ones he use in this video.
Can someone tell me where to buy them?
Thanks

For the cost of IC diamond, OCZ Freeze works just fine. Cooling paste does not make your cpu/gpu cooler, good contact does.

@torakka94 USE IC DIAMOND!!!!
Trubyd44 1 year ago
@Trubyd44 isn't that thermal paste but i got koolance paste with it so should i use that paste?
torakka94 1 year ago
@torakka94 Do not use the Koolance paste. I was able to drop 7 degrees C by using IC Diamond. I would definately recommend using IC Diamond.
Trubyd44 1 year ago
@Trubyd44 ok thanks for the advice but i can't find a seller in finland who would sell IC diamond so i think i have to stick with the koolance paste

@torakka94 I understand, but its not an ideal situation.

isn't that a little too much thermal paste?

@Trubyd44 ah i see makes sense, because for my as5 I only have to use a tiny drop since its not very viscous and sticks

It would be nice to see some stats on the temperature reduction from all this work.
