I think the photographers are the real heroes here. Their bravery is inspiring, and the lengths they will travel to help the world and those in need is humbling. This is way more effective than most of the other humanitarian efforts out there.
@Joewatts1 I agree completely, I helped out in the one in Cork. It was amazing seeing everyone's smile as soon as they saw their photo. All the photographers did an incredible job. There wasn't one unhappy camper by the end of the day.
Just came back from Cork, Ireland, Help portrait. It awesome, so many people, so big opportunity. So many smiles, real smiles, from the deep of the heart!!! :))))))
In urban areas you can hook up with shelters, nursing homes, social service agencies, churches, soup kitchens, women's shelters, etc. There is always a way! Fortunately.
in urban areas, its very likely that you will be perceived as a creep if you randomly take someones picture and most ppl are very distrustful of strangers - thats just how it is. and, no one has poloroid cameras anymore ot be able to print it on the spot - so i dont think this is really practical at all in major urban cities. seriously, unfortunately.
I understand that this is well-intentioned...but do you think it's actually a good idea? What would you think if someone came up and randomly asked to take your picture, you asked why, and they told you about this project? They're telling you that they look down on you and think you're "needy" or "less-fortunate" - would that really make you feel loved?
@GyrinidaeRex It is an organized event, not just going up to random people. These people sign up to come and get their portraits taken because they can't for their own reasons. If you went to one of these events you would actually see how wonderful and how great the idea is. What it comes down to is sharing a talent and a gift to benefit everyone involved.
Another well made, inspiring video. Looking forward to being part of the project. The music is great -- any idea of the title/artist, or production house, if its RF?

If you look at it that way maybe. It could also be an opportunity to make someone feel special.
