  • The first car I bought when I got my license was a 65 Impala 2dr hardtop. It too had 283/three-no-the-tree. It was white with black vinyl top. The only extra was factory AM/FM radio. I bought it in 82 for $850. At that time, they weren't as desired as they are now so you could get them real cheap.

  • I tried several times the other night to post comments, but it posted only the video of my '65. I love the looks of your car ... awesome ride. You have every right to be proud of it. Regarding the wheel well moulding, these cars all had the moulding. Way back in the day ('80-85) when I was doing the restoration on my car, I threw away the factory mouldings (stupid). They really weren't that bad, just the typical little dents and rough edges on the inside. Anyway you have a great car.

  • @lazeekat

Thank you for your comment! I got to watch your Impala with open headers and I really enjoyed both sound and image! I bet you are rightfully as proud of your '65 as I am of mine, plus yours has a 327! You can check out two longer videos of my Impala on mancamaroz28's channel, the cutouts are opened in "the deal".

  • Love your '65. My Dad bought a new '65 impala 2-door in regal red with beige interior, 283, and the manual shift three on the tree. He paid $3200 for it. I was fifteen years old at the time and was in pure heaven, having just gotten my drivers' license. The car had the wheel well trim that people are talking about. I still have a few incidental pictures of the Impala. Take good care of your prize!

  • @Buffalosharps Thank you for your comment. Did you get to scan your old pictures by any chance, so I can see your Impala?

  • what does a 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION mean, on a gmc truck?

  • Hey buddy. My dad had a SS 396/325 Powerglide. Same color scheme. He had the stock SS wheel covers though. Seeing this video brought back so many good memories from my childhood. My father sold it when i was 11 to help pay for a surgery my mother needed. You have the most beautiful '65 on youtube. Keep it clean and don't ever sell it. Excellent job and take care

  • @vabch82 Hi there! I appreciate your comment. I know from experience what it is to sell a car and miss it later. I've had this Impala for 5 years and will keep it! Take care.

  • That wheel well moulding for the 65 Impala must be hard to come by nowadays....65 Impalas came with them from the factory, but that trim takes a beating over the years......I am guessing that that moulding may not be available any longer....not being reproduced and many people are simply repainting the cars and doing without the wheel lip mouldings...

  • @ns3330 Repro wheel well moulding are available at Classic Industries but I'm not so fond of them, I'll leave it as it is for now...

  • This is like candy to my ears...

  • Or maybe none of them came with wheel well chrome. I'm looking around the videos and all I see don't, but one maybe does (hard to see some).

  • I believe my Impala did come with the wheel well chrome trim, as the small attaching screw holes are still there. Chances are that both your cars had them, I would say they all did out of the factory but were removed as they got dented and were catching dirt and then rust.

  • Nice car you have! Congrats !

I had two '65 Impala's, the first, my first car ever, had a 327 and the 2nd had a 283 (powerglide). I don't remember the tranny with the 327, I think 3 on the tree.

I notice your car doesn't have the wheel well trim (chrome). Was that an option in '65? I think one or both of mine did, but it was long ago, I'm not sure.

  • I recall reading in a book somewhere that only 7 or 8% of 1965 Impalas had the three speed manual...Most had the 2 speed powerglide automatic while some had the 4 speed...The turbo-hydramatic 3 speed auto became available in the middle of the '65 model run...

  • That's an interesting piece of info. It's true that all the small block 65 Impalas I know have the powerglide. I tend to like automatic trans better, but I owned a 6 cylinder 2 door 71 nova with a powerglide and it could have used a 3rd gear!

  • nice ride

  • Thanks for the comment, you can also see it in the related video by mancamaroZ28.

  • sounds like the clutch needs adjusting or worked on....as I hear some grinding when the car is put in gear.....you should make a video with a passenger filming from inside while the car is being driven on the road....

  • I'll have to look at it, it's rarely as bad as on the video though... A video from inside will be made as soon as possible...

  • No more grinding, it was due to the transmission fluid which was too light, I'm running SAE 80W90 now.

  • My Dad had a '65 Impala that he traded in in 1973...and he was always sorry he sold it....was a 4 door hardtop...crocus yellow body with white roof....balck interior...and it had a 283 with the three speed manual.....I wish I still had that car now....

  • I have one just like It
