All motorists who have had enough of draconian parking enforcement and exhorbitant parking fees should stand united with NoToBikeParkingTax, whether or not they support the particular battleground upon which it is being fought. It's time to show them the motoring public has had enough. Google 'nutsville' if you want to know how rotten is the state of Westminster!

London was not dead, but very much alive with the sound of revving engines and horns blaring. A very good and (mostly) well ordered turnout. Well done all.

Remember the introduction of this charge came about following a popular petition asking for MORE free 2 wheel parking spaces (just one car bay in every road). This is actually a clandestine central government response. Parking charges will initially make it appear that there are ample 2 wheel parking spaces.

You can only park within a given zone so a courier (who can no longer park free for 20 mins while loading!) should pay many times each day. Many 2 wheel users move around London during the day so will pay many times. The charge is discounted to £1 but is £1.50. There is a service charge on top of this for certain payment methods.

Great vid Chalie. If only there was BAFTA for campaign ads. At last I have wheels taking the day off as well so I can get to Ace Cafe or help out at Trafalgar Square. Looking forward to a nice long slow ride around Westminster causing mayhem. Must remember the fliers to hand to the onlookers. Handy for all riders to have 20 or 30 stuffed in their pocket.

Well...the new tax didn't really affect me - I just go elsewhere to buy stuff where parking is free.....

I do feel immensly hacked off at all those bikes that have no option to pay for parking in Westminster and hence will be there Monday to air my grievences.

Why oh why Boris and Cameron are keeping their mouth shut about this? Isn't it bad for their reputation as the next elections are coming up? A simple call from either of them would do the job. I personally stopped going to Westminster and buy whatever i need in adjacent boroughs. parking is still free there. But for how long?

The ruling establishment rely upon congestion to boost the reliance on oil in order to maintain its price. This is one reason that the Falkland Island oil fields have not been released into the market. The recent move to charge motorcylists to park is an obvious revenue generating scheme both directly & indirectly through increased congestion.

The gangster operaters, worried about opening the floodgates to free parking, needed to quickly nip the idea of free parking for low congestion vehicles in the bud.

This agenda has been supported by a national scheme of road work changes designed to narrow town centre roads in order to increase danger to cyclists & motorcyclists in an effort to dissuade the rising numbers of commuters who choose two wheel transport.

Couriers, supposedly allowed 20 minutes for each drop off, are always immediately tickets and have to produce individual invoices for each drop in order to defend parking penalties. Motorcycle courier operators typically do not operate such an invoicing scheme.

This response from Westminster Council was initiated from Tony Blair himself after sight of a major petition to provide more free 2 wheel parking in London to reduce congestion.

Westminster Council claim that: "The demonstration is in response to a scheme being trialled by Westminster's parking bosses whereby for a maximum of £1.50 per day, motorcyclists can park in a dedicated bay anywhere in the borough."

What a bold faced Orwellian lie!

A significant point is that a motorcyclist CANNOT use the same charge payment for every bay in the borough. They would pay £1.50 for Each bay they park in during EACH & very day.

first, I'm completely against the charge and I'm going to the demo on Monday. but,

it's true that you pay ONCE per day and they allow you to park everywhere

however, it's not true that you pay £1.50: when they send you a text to confirm your payment, they say that they add £0.20 to "include service charge"...

what still I don't understand is how the service charges are not already included in the £1.50!

they're like vampires, they just want to suck as much money as possible!

When you see the passion behind this campaign and the rubbish that comes out of WCC (Susie 'Duh'-bridge being a perfect example), there's no way they can resist the pressure unless they're only doing it to try and save their own face.

The last demo was absolutely astounding, let's get back on the streets, let's get even more guys and girls behind us, and show them who's going to be left standing at the end of this!
