For the record, Kurt Cobain was by no stretch of the imagination "one of the best song writers ever to walk the earth." He was a mediocre guitarist, and mediocre song writer. He just happened to find a niche to exploit in a new generation and target a large number of adolescents and young adults who didn't know who they were or what they wanted. He was not the pioneer of grunge, he just used his addiction as a fuel and brought grunge to the mainstream.
