  • I always hate it when people talk during an acoustic performance. Obvious that they have never played before or respect the artist pouring out his soul.

  • When I saw this man play this song, it was pretty much silent, and this was at Jazzfest. That's how it should have been here.

  • Some dude said something about a friggin "sippee cup"... dumbass, watch the stage and try to learn something from a man who loves, appreciates, and represents the blues as well as anyone does in today's time.

  • @mudducks10801: Actually these songs would be played on countryside porches pouring out their troubles to anyone willing to listen. And in my opinion the crowds not even listening to the music, their fit to be at a heavy metal rock concert shoutin like that.

  • Hey all you know it all elitists f-heads.....When these songs were performed by the original bluesmen they played them on the streets to passers by and in juke joints that were rockin and havin fun.....They didn't have crowds of white people standing around in silence. You want silence? go to the Opera. Why does everyone just want to bitch about everything?

  • Dirty white yuppie scum

  • Wow I can't believe this crowd man, Shut the fuck up!!

  • Fucking dipshit pub crowd! I can hear idiot conversations more clearly than his singing! Was the intro supposed to go that long or was he hoping they would quieten down?

  • sounds so good

  • Whay can't those fools shut tha fuck up??

    Man singin his heart out.....

    Morons... Yuppies

    J.C.

  • Blues ain't no yellin' music, blues ain't no happy music, blues is a cryin' music.

  • man im 18 years old and listen to this and can still appreciate it...it makes you forget all ur worries and kick back.

  • This crowd makes me wanna give them a personal damn tour of the killing floor...

  • College kids can be real douchebags.

  • i know...what is that? no respect

  • haha yeah white people dont know whats good. i dont know maybe he needs a german shepard up on stage with him. bet they would pick up the shit too.

  • What's with the stand?...I'm sure he knows all the lyrics, also where has that beautiful resonator gone?

  • Chris Thomas King is severely underrated. but that's no surprise. kids today wouldn't know real music if it walked up and smacked them in the face with it's cock.

I wish there were more videos of King playing a greater variety of his music.

he has so many incredible acoustic blues hits and covers from the Delta era. but there's hardly any videos of him other than "Killing Floor" because everybody saw that Farley Brothers movie.

  • @BigCM06 Actually it was the Cohen Brother.

  • @iwasaiwass yeah........ noticed that just after posting. and you can't edit comments.

    oh well, point remains.

I would love to see more of King's music on YouTube. all you can find is Killing Floor and poor recordings like this.

  • @BigCM06 that's not necessarily true, I'm 14, and love Chris Thomas King, and hate the type of music that most people my age like, and, there are others like me.

  • @chewycakes of course there are exceptions to every rule.

    I was speaking generally.

  • @BigCM06 your absolutely ignorant because i happen to be 14 years old and i love this song and i hate the type of music most kids my age like

  • Agree, sad crowd for something so special.

  • amazing

  • What a disrespectul crowd. The guys up there performing and the audience is just yapping away. If people aren't going to listen to the guy then why the fuck did they go see him?

  • jeez, i wish i would get such a sound of my lungs and hands...

  • man, I'm only 20 years old and this music gives me the heebies. I've been a blues fan ever since I can remember good music. It's not only Jay-z that's the problem, but shit bands like Nickelback and all that other gay stuff that sounds exactly like them. They need to outlaw those kinds of bands, because it's killing my generation and all the other ones after me.

  • @Tuck1911 same here, I'm 20, I'm currently trying to catch up a Blues Band more based on garage rock blues, its usual for the mainstream to kill the generation, it has nothing to do more than with fashion-money or any other stupid social action based on apparience, you just try to enjoy while you can.

  • King really made me appreciate blues...... Truly amazing

  • hey its tommy, i love "oh brother where art thou"

  • Sounds like a good human being, I'd love to experience a moment with someone who is passionate. I wish we were all blind sometimes, I think we would see each other for who we are better without knowing what color our skin is, who our ancestors were, or what country we come from. We would see that we are all the same, each one of us is no different from our neighbors. In fact without a neighbor, we couldn't put a roof over our heads.

  • I met this guy today!! he played songs and told us stories and stuff at school. Amazing.

  • @xXDylanTylerXx Thats a dream come true for me!

  • i'm sure it is. I know there are many people that would have paid good money to see what i saw

  • Lucky, I'd love to hear what this guy has to say

  • the audience are a bunch of sorry bitches....have some repsect for a genius

  • i agree with u all cept i would have my lighter out or my phone swaying back n forth

  • @critickkk I probably would have just shut the hell up so I could fucking hear

  • yea the audience does bother me... at least you all noticed too

  • faggot ass audience needs to pay some attention....fuckin whitey.

  • @xZOMBIESLAUGHTERx dont just blame whitey.......i'm black and a blues fan and i dont even see any of us in the crowd....black people under 50 dont even know their own heritage....sad sad

  • dude, i'm white...it was a joke....but i really do hate when people do that to an awesome artist like that.

  • aye. too busy with the newest rap fad. kinda sad. but when you think about it thats how life treats us - what we come from gets long forgotten for whats relevant in the newest generation's lives. the greatness of our own time, for instance, will be overshadowed by the newest popular thing. even white people are more interested in their miley cyrus and fall out boy than we are mozart and the like. times change, and those old times are just dust-covered distant thoughts that people don't want

  • I'm with you on that. I discovered blues music about 5 years ago and was blown away by it, particularly the acoustic delta blues. I wished I'd been exposed to it more as a kid. It is a shame that this music has not been carried forward to new generations (of black youth) but i'm doing my part by passing it on to my kids.

  • excellent performance, fuckhead audience.

i wouldve been sitting criss-cross applesauce by his feet listening intently

  • Great performance, CTK! 5*.

    Shameful performance, loudmouth audience members.-5

  • Hes probably one of the only black people song artist i like =D

  • I would fucking love to hear this man live.

  • he should have stopped and walked off stage, fuck em.....not one there knew blues. fucking disrespectful fucks!

  • If you don;t love the blues you got a hole in your soul.- Albert King @_@

  • Great performance, and very impressive - the man was right in the zone all the way through, despite semingly little or no support/respect from the crowd. What a bunch of arrogant spoilt vaccuous tossers, really - i mean , there's no need to kneel down an light a candle or anything, but at least shut up, actually listen for a bit and give the guy a chance, when he's putting all he's got into what he's doin .Shamefull.

  • I get chills everytime I hear this song. <3

  • Amazing!

Stupid kids dont even know what is in front of them.

Woulda been silent in m town.

  • i WAS thinkin the same thing......

  • same here

  • Dead silent where i live =D

  • sippy cup crowd zero!

    Chris Thomas King 10000000000000000000000

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful... to bad the drunks in the crowd don't appreciate good music

  • I saw Stan Rogers stop playing and tell the (college) crowd to shut up while he was playing - and they did! Too bad Stan wasn't at this concert...

  • this seems like a college frat crowd. More beer please. they don't know what they have in front of them. sad

  • @smock66 thats the younger generation for ya my friend, they have no clue as to what great music really is, they think someone like jay z is a musical genius because he knows how to rhyme....

  • @bloozeman1969 hey man jay z is a composer. hes got some good shit. and dont judge before you know. im 18 and i know tons of people who love good music

  • Absolutely no respect for the mans playing or this song...this isnt carnival you know! CTK playing this song somehow reminds me of Jerry Ricks in the old days...keep the blues alive

  • no man, the ignorant ass crowd makes it seem that much more special because despite them CTK keeps it as soulful as music is ever gonna be....Beautiful performance of a sad song, the way music should be...

  • if you think music should make you sad then i feel sorry for you

  • Well, theres a reason they call music like this the blues. Whether it makes you sad or happy, I think the important thing is that it's making you feel something.

IMO, that's not such an easy thing to find these days.

  • thats not what i meant... im talking about the intention. ask 99% of musicians out there if theyre music is INTENDED to make someone sad or upset. theyll say no every time. but yes, i am glad that music has the capacity to create such deep emotion

  • @Bradbssargdons

    really man? 99%?

what about bob marley or the beatles

  • @weewizard200 I have never heard a musician say "yes my music is supposed to make you upset" or anything along those lines. and I deal with them every day.

  • H.S.N.I.C.

  • Philistine audience ruined this.

  • Yep, 5 stars for the singer, 0 for the ignorant public... I would stay quiet even 2 days after

  • @chipontachipon It does seem that American audiences talk through about everything. Had an American friend over to see the Lost finale, there was a gag order put on her mouth :o)

  • @hotgerrard Hahahaha, well we´ve got some of those kind of friends here too!! Maybe we could send them all to an island and say they are "Lost"..hehe

  • these people aren't respectful at all..

  • Listen to that jackass imitate the guitar at 2:30 with his mouth. I'm willing to bet that place was full of yuppies.

  • A true blues revivalist.

  • people are driftin door to door. can't find heaven where they go.

  • Comment removed

  • Chris King is the man.

  • i feel like slapping the guy talking about a sippy cup in the f#cking face

  • exactlly...beautiful music being preformed and thats the best he can say...disgracfull

  • i agree. how can people just ignore music, ecpecially a great song like this.

  • I would still shut the f up and listen with all of my attentiveness possible

  • STFU!

  • Cast (Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?)

    George Clooney... Everett

    John Turturro... Pete

    Tim Blake Nelson... Delmar

    John Goodman... Big Dan Teague

    Holly Hunter... Penny

    Chris Thomas King... Tommy Johnson

Not one comment on the acting ability of this fine performer!

    Oh YouTubers, Where Art Thou?

  • fit the bill perfectlly....im there...lol

  • Excellent!!!

  • It's true that they cheered at the end, and it's also true that at small bar gigs people do talk a lot and don't pay much attention,

But, if you haven't played a gig before then you don't understand how annoying it is when people do talk over your music,

And, the man is sitting there with acoustic in hand singing his soul out, and people are just blah-blah-blah-ing away (if you watch you can actually see one guy with his back to the stage), and that's just... uncool man

    Well played

  • man i wish these people would shut up so i could here chris better

  • some frat house party..

take me back to Tabby,s blues Box.

    BR La..

  • I don't know what you guys are getting so raged about, have you never been to a small bar gig before? People talk and don't pay attention even to the headliners. They cheered at the end they were obviously listening.

  • SMARTEST COMMENT ON THIS PAGE

  • Ahh Chris Thomas King is a great bluesman, i saw him live in DC, and love Skip James who wrote it. These poor people in the audience deserve sympathy, i'm sure it ain't nothing that all the old great bluesmen and women didn't have to put up with back in the day...unappreciative unmusicallyeducated drunk bastards hah

  • man, i couldn't agree more with most of these comments... most of the audience had slim to nil respect for this very, very moving song that every respectable musician wishes he/she wrote. this song stops me dead in my tracks everytime i hear it.

  • He didn't even write this song, its a Skip James song...

  • audience needs to shut the hell up, nobody there even understands what music is. they probably came to hear some rap music

  • No shit! This is one of the most haunting blues tunes I've ever heard.....It's beautiful. The audience has no clue what is being laid out in front of them. I would be standing there mesmerized.

  • Well this is a small time gig, usually ppl dont really pay attention to much to the song, but they cheered him in the end so...

  • inexcusable

  • its just simply beautiful!!! an i deff would be right there with ya damikestrgmail. for sure man!!! you know whats up!!! haha im trying to play it, its hard as hell!!!

  • Its very hard to play when the audience is like that. I think those people talking robbed the people listening of a better performance. He rushed the tune and is spirit wasnt into it as it should have been.

  • i cant get over how well he plays that guitar god it sends chills through my body...id give almost anything to sit at a camp fire smoking s spliff on the beach and listen to him play...thats my heaven

  • Finally, somebody is doing some good ol Mississippi Blues. I've been listening to my old albums and C.D.'s wishing somebody new would come along. This is the first new performer I've really liked since SRV passed. Thank you and keep em coming.

  • Awesome song, awesome singer, awesome performance... WTF is wrong with this audience? I hate it when an audience bitches out like this and doesn't even pay proper attention, especially given the calibre of the performer.

  • This music has and will outlive many a great grandparent, and it will outlive the fools that prefer some of the noise that passes for music among the foolish today. Mr. King has more talent in one plucking finger than most of these teen fools have in their entire bodies.

  • I absolutely cannot believe the quality of comments that get spat out into this site. I mean, like, whatever for? For what possible purpose? There's this beautiful video playin' and all folks can think of to do is to bitch on and on about nuthin'.

    Ooops.

  • I cant believe someone says f. americans when listening to a song composed by an american (I am from Brazil, the place where no one has respect for anybody).

  • whish those fuckin arsehole would shut the fuck up when someone is doing such a brilliant performance.

its such an insult to a singer.

these shithead just dont give a fuck.

and they dont know good music if it bit them on the arse.

    fuckin americans.

  • I agree with you except for this- twenty years ago I was a professional musician in Europe, played for the Dutch, English and Germans, and had to endure people talking in every one of those countries. Unfortunately, bad manners and a lack of class are universal characteristics of the human race!

  • You only performed in white countries :P.

  • Seriously. This audience sucks

  • dude WHAT THE FUCK, if I was in this audience my mouth would be to the floor just stuck in awe of pure genius...these people have no idea what they are missing

  • por que mierda el publico habla?

y no disfruta de una hermosa cancion, que falta de repesto!

    que ignorantes!

  • La Purisima Verdad

  • who would TALK the whole time during such a performance?

  • Coz Jonas bros make money for they`r record companies and blues artists don`t.

  • Fucking audience. STFU.

  • agreed.

  • this is the reason i wanted to learn how to play the guitar...i would play this song for hours

  • And I would listen for ours, and days, and weeks!!!!!!!

  • nah, its just that people have very little respect for musicians unless they are on the mtv or big names. its a great song.

  • What's with the idiots in the crowd yapping their heads off while this guy is killing this tune? What a bunch of morons....

  • It's too bad most blacks let this music go.They really had something

  • They didn't, in fact, there are probably more blues performers of all colours playing worldwide today than there were when this song was written. It's just not so mainstream, sadly.

  • Uh, yeah, dreamon. I play lots of writers nights and nobody shuts up while you play. That only happens in church. The rest of the time it's like screw you, we're here to get drunk and pickup chicks...

  • It's sad that no one is willing to listen quietly to a great song, Chris Thomas is playing a song that's much more mature for this era of people and Skip James would probably love to see a guitarist such as Chris do this song so well put.

  • nice song

  • This tune comes from way down deep. And it's timely for 21st century global economic collapse.

  • people can't respect for a minute one of the most amazing blues song that I ever heard... Desperate

  • Great Song, Cant get this tune out of my head!

  • i think everyone in that audience has lost there talking privaleges so i vote they all get there vocal cords removed neone second that?

  • Chill out.

It's not a control issue it's disappointment. The chatter is annoying don't deny it.

Song deserves silence and the fact that nobody else in that place can feel that is...well...kinda disappointing. :P

  • Just for writing all that you deserve a mushroom stamp.

  • Or maybe, like most people who actually want to hear this soulful and beautiful tune played live by a superb performer, he is annoyed at the disrespect of the audience who like the sound of their own voices too much to shut their traps for just "three and a half minutes of their lifetimes". As you said, probably drunk, as if it's an excuse. It's everybody's right to judge as it should be everybody's expectation to be judged.

  • @thedude309 that was mean spirited

  • Gotta add as well...your just a clown if this song doesn't make you shut up and pay attention

  • Audiences like this suck! It's times like these that culture and art become a commodity for an ingrateful upper-class....the rich write history but the music makers suffer. It has everthing to do with knowing the blues.

  • This is an amazing performance of Skips tune and of course no one is paying attention and if they are I just don't think they get it.

  • Those idiots aren't even listening!

  • This song makes me think of my dad. His name was Gad. We used to call him DADGAD.

  • chump, Skip James liked to play (and played this song) in open D minor, which is DADFAD.

  • What are you talking about, stam? What the hell is open D minor? I just wanted to tell you guys about my dad. His name was Gad.

  • Chump, D minor is a guitar tuning and he explained it if you had the sense to read it The strings are tuned to the notes he listed at the end of the comment

  • What are you talking about, Jupmiester. I just wanted to tell you guys about my dad--Gad was his name. His father, my grandfather, was named Fadilo, or "Fad" for short. We used to call him DADFAD. He once wrote a great tune entitled "Cross Note Tuning."

  • Ok you may stop the mind tricks...hehe

  • Fuckers!Great music, when I can hear it

  • Underappreciated artist, sad. I do know Skip James would be proud of his cover, best one anyone has ever done.

  • wow, that is really frustrating. Shut up friken idoits

  • yeah these people are so stupid and rude. i hate shitty people that can't appreciate good music.

  • "Oh. If you like authentic blues, you really gotta check out Blueshammer. They're so great."

  • Crowd needs to STFU. piss on these turds.

    Love CTK

  • seeing this makes me feel like slapping someone

  • Are these people in the crowd lost?

  • lindo d+ velho pqp.

  • Agreed. What kind of twat talks over this song?

  • man i wish these people would shut up so i could here chris better
