I live in birmingham and I remember that day. I remember thinking I was going to die and mostly half of alabama because it was four tornadoes that day. and birmingham was right in the middle. I even saw two tornadoes at once that day. It was crazy. R.I.P. to all those that did not make it through the storm you will be truly missed.
i live in east limestone in north alabama, its like 12 miles west of huntsville, and a tornado JUST LIKE this barely missed my house, seeing this brings back memories of watching that EF5 tornado, it sends chills down my spine. but everyday i cant stop thinking about how devistating it would have been up here if the EF5 tornado here had struck just 8 more miles to the east, it would have wiped out decatur, madison, AND huntsville..... luckily it only traveled along the northwest sides of them.
@Soturi92 It was awful what happened that day. I live in Decatur, can't believe that EF5 was so close to us and my family in Athens (went right between us, through Tanner). I saw the damage that same tornado left behind while helping with donations and clean-up efforts in both Limestone and Lawrence County--just unbelievable :(
I live in Downtown Birmingham and was so frightened when this happened. GOD is just. HE saved me. For the people that lost their lives, HE cares about them just as much as HE cares about me. No one understands death, but it says in The BIBLE that death comes upon the righteous to save them from destruction ahead. Who knows? Maybe there was destruction ahead spiritually for the people who lost their lives. A spuritual death can happen to where they won't enter heaven because of sin. GOD cares.
i live in mississippi and we had three days of this but the damage wasnt near as bad as the damage in birmingham in the thirty seconds that changed many lives
not sure which is more creepy the twister or the music. but anyways the storm was declared a weak f4 winds toped around 200 . f5 is 260+ .big difference in damage and lifes lost, was still a massive storm though
Having my family live in Birmingham, more specifically Gardendale I can tell you my heart sunk when I saw it. My mom call me Crying while I watched in horror. Very bad time. I can understand someone being in awe of something a mile and a half wide but obviously they are not thinking of the lives lost. Not mad though.
I was in this storm. The sound was insane. Sounded like blasts going off. My city and many others are destroyed. I pray for everyone who has lost their loved ones and homes. There is so much destruction across Alabama and into other states from this tornado. I pray for the EMS and Fire Departments and Police Officers who have to clean and all people who are willing to help. Thank you.
Laughing while filming an F5 tornado is pure stupidity and heartless for those that are in the path of that thing! Not to mention how stupid you sound. The whole thing is the tornado and yes a tornado does turn that is what makes it a tornado!!! I still can't get a hold of my Uncle who lives in Birmingham. Think of the devastation a tornado causes next time you want to laugh while filming one!
Given that tornadoes predominately occur in the United States (especially the Southeast), I can't fault them for being awed by the sight (given the foreign accents).
Yes, they would certainly be singing a different tune if it was coming towards them, but I digress.
@09TwilightGirl they were not laughing at the people getting killed or anything. some people just think that seeing a tornado is cool or something. i bet they were not laughing at anything like that.... I hope all your family is ok though down there..
It is really foolish to be standing in the window of a multi-story building with your video camera during a miltiple tornado outbreak! You're lucky to not be dead.
This video shows the power of mother nature and also the stupidity of the "children" laughing at the destruction at someone else expense. Grow the f*ck up and take heed that God is sending a sign to LISTEN" My thoughts and prayers go out to those that lost family and loved ones. A home can be rebuilt but as a human life cannot be.
The little funnel coming off the right was probably just a spin off. The giant mass in the center probably has a much larger tornado inside it, and the funnel is just masked by the rain. If you see something like this, you really should take cover. Don't wait for the "freight train" sound or for the sky to get darker.
@plowkid1 Condolences to you and your loved ones. I ,too, had friends/family involved but by the grace of God, no one was hurt or killed. May our Lord heal your aching hearts in the coming days ahead and mend your broken bodies.

What is the soundtrack for this video? The quiet, understated electronica contrasts well with the storm.
