A stupid question: What exactly does 'user' mean when talking about GAE4B? Does it mean 'a person who can access the console and/or contribute to an app'? Or does it mean 'a person who can, using a Google Account, sign-in into the published application'? While a) sounds too good to be true ($8/month with no API/data quotas?), b) on the other hand sounds usable really only for an enterprise environment, i.e. 4Business.
c'mon guys, he's probably gay but that's how it is - they are amongst us... i bet he listens to comments about the way he speaks all his life... at least he can articulate well
So ....why not put someone who doesnt get nervous or has actual speaking skills. This guy should have started speaking at smaller conferences or something.
@crumcon Yeah. I can't really stand his intonation to subject myself to it for a few minutes longer. I had to skip over his presentation, sadly. The guy seems strung out and just needs to relax.
You are are brutal. You're going to feel pretty stupid dissing him when you hear his voice on radio advertising clubs with the deep echo reverb. Then he will show you all and won't you feel dumb then!
I don't think good companies will ever be as much of a "victim" as you say they will. You speak as if to say Google will have all power, but Google needs to work together with other companies to make these standards and applications come to life. They seek collaboration everywhere and are, for that, not dictators, but more like organizers of this great community. And if I would have to choose a company to represent the community in the future, it would be Google. HTML 5 shirt gogogo!
@Boehoehuahoei Android is a phone OS and Chrome OS is a desktop OS. Also Chrome OS is going to be based around web apps where Android is for native applications.
privacy, internal informations security, google is a foreign entreprise in all the world except US, there apps are services (you will pay every month for ever), you can not move to an other platform, does apps developed today will work in 10 years on the "newer" engine, you are stuck to develop your apps in the language(code) they choose to offer., only google know the true about the informations they gives to you,
@hdzsound you pay for a service as long as you want to use it. you don't have to pay for upgrades like you have to when you use Office, not only but if you want/need a new version of Office you my need to buy a new version of Windows and most likely a new computer with it.
@hdzsound Services improve at no cost for you and you will pay for their usage for as long as you need it and no more. You are stuck to develop your apps in a platform only if you develop apps for desktop computer (very 90s) for Microsoft for instance.
"You are stuck to develop your apps in a platform only if you develop apps for desktop computer for Microsoft for instance" AND google Android, AND Google App Engine AND iPhone AND Blackberry, and iMAC and ....
@hdzsound Developing for the web and for services instead gives you flexibility and choice. Especially when you develop on open standards. I am afraid also that the information stored on a laptop on a closed source system like Win is no more secure than information stored on a remote service.
population tracking ( you need a cellphone number to activate a google account), google will know everything about your compagnie and competitors, massive population/entreprise studies that you will never ear off, google use the open community for their own profit, etc.
@hdzsound it seems to me that Google gives to the open community a lot, and monetizes on targeted ads click and display, which is even useful IMO. you are surely free to not trust Google or any other company as you are free to not use/buy their products. However you should refrain yourself from posting troll-like comments that are not backed by any real data nor proof.
