Hey Jason, thanks for all your videos! Very informative and useful! How does this phone compare to a HTC Touch Diamond? You mentioned the diamond is newer but it seems to have alot less features (no front facing camera, no memory slot etc)
Depends on which version you're talking about - the one I'm looking at here has a 400 Mhz CPU. There may be versions of it selling from carriers that have a faster CPU. Or maybe you're thinking of the new 2009 Touch Cruise? It has a 528mhz CPU. This video was shot over a year ago, in June of 2008, so it's pretty unlikely that I'd be reviewing a new 2009 device, right? :-)
Thank you so much for this review. My friend has a similar HTC phone that he bought off a friend for about $200 and I was pondering about whether I should get one of these High Tech computers. From this review I have finalized my decision and just started saving up.. On a tangent, I wanted to ask what type of camera you are using for your video recording so I can look up the specs for that also...?
It's strange, you used to be able to buy it from Best Buy, but I just checked and they don't offer it any more. Expansys USA has it for $684, but that seems pretty expensive to me.
The company of the phone? I don't understand your question. The phone is made by HTC. It's sold by various mobile phone carriers around the world - it depends where you are. It can be purchased in the US from Best Buy or online around the world from Expansys.
Using a rogue device means it's not officially supported or sold by your carrier. An unlocked device that you bought somewhere else and you get to work on your local carrier's network is also known as a rogue device. :-)
I've only had a short bit of time with the Diamond, but it seems superior to this in every way - small, thinner, better screen, faster CPU, more RAM, etc. Although this device isn't very old, it's "last gen" compared to the Diamond - but the Diamond is also going to be more expensive.
Yeah, AT&T has bumped the monthly data plan by $10/month, so that's $120/year - and the new plan doesn't include any text messages, so you have to add $5 or $15/month onto that to get text messages. So the reality is that the new "cheaper" iPhone ends up being more expensive overall than the previous generation iPhone. Apple & AT&T are really doing a number on their customers (again).
so is there any confirmation or any website that i can go to that will have something about something new from microsoft i think most people are thinking its going to be a zune touch do you have any reliable news on it?
It really depends on your needs - Windows Mobile is great for applications, choice of phone carriers, choice of phones, etc. Apple has one basic product (well, two now: 2G and 3G iPhone) on one phone carrier in each country. It's a matter of picking the best match for your needs.

@iamwagh There's no easy way to change the language. Buy the phone in the language you want to use it in.

Iam wondering do u get sponsored or do you make your own money and buy the products?
bhagwant32 3 years ago
It's a mixture - in this case, HTC USA sent me the Touch Cruise to review. Sometimes I have to buy the stuff (like the Dell Hybrid Desktop).

The particular type of camera I'm using is a Canon GL2, but it will soon be replaced by a Canon HF100.

I understand what he's asking. He is asking which carrier has consumers using it. I'm curious as well, for I don't see it on any carrier websites.
fckalvey 3 years ago
Oh, ok. It's not being sold by any carriers - you buy it as an unlocked device and use it "rogue".
- Jason

Thanks. Although, I'm not sure what "rogue" means.

So you mean that you can buy it and use any company? For example, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile,
TaylorChloe821 3 years ago
Any GSM provider, yes. So that's AT&T or T-Mobile. But not Verizon or Sprint, they're CDMA.

cant wait for the review! i hear that smart phones often lags with only 128mb of ram. hope tat this is OK
seggsygal2 3 years ago
Well, no, 128 MB RAM is usually just fine for most people - 64 MB is the problematic level of RAM.
