  • hey guys.... google this sweet cover of stargazer...>> youtube.com/watch?v=tOA0iCb2U1E

  • Perfection

  • Awesome song, I wish it was on the dvd

  • Rainbow was my first concert, "Long Live Rock and Roll" tour. They were actually the warm-up band for Cheap Trick, who though also outstanding walked off stage when a "fan" blew off an m80, one upping lots of other rowdiness in the lower deck at the Chicago Amphitheater. But the real fireworks started during Rainbow. They did Stargazer almost like this to a T, culminating in Blackmore's destroying of his guitar. Blew me away, I was a Rainbow fan immediately. No party of mine went Rainbow-less.

  • The band by the time they did Stargazer was no longer called "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow"only Rainbow.Just in the first albun was R.B's Rainbow

  • el inicio del power metal..

  • rip ronnie, long live justin bieber...

  • R.I.P., Ronnie James Dio.

  • seen richie blackmore with pat travers in cleveland music theatre in the 70s early 80s he did not come out for oncour'' in cleveland what are you stupid , he got booed and pat travers came out with snorting whiskey drinking cocaine and smoked it he did 4 oncours noke cleve.

  • @jhnnookie65 -- Before you call anyone else stupid, you might want to learn how to spell so YOU don't look stupid. It's E_N_C_O_R_E.

  • @rovibe ..another stickler for the English language.. nice ..

  • I remember this tour. I saw tham at the Palace in Albany NY. Thin Lizzy was supposed to open for them but didn't show.

  • Great stuff Ronnie how quick we forget the legends, and Ritchie.

Love it the mid to late 70s, how could I forget!

  • What an awesome stage set up!!!!

  • noooooooooooothe best line-up ever and i will never see it wit my own eye and ear it whit my own ear live nevvverr

  • コージー叩きまくり、ロニー唄いまくり、リッチー弾きまくりな曲w。コージーのドラムは凄かった(リッチーより自分の世界に入ってたもんなぁ)

  • @harrypon

  • why stop half way through, the camera man needs finding,,if only we had mobile fones then, this is the only filmed version and its cut short.he looks so tiny till that voice stuns you into silence.

  • one of the greatest 'underground ' songs ever

  • Love this song...

  • the best song ever is just magic and melodia!!!!

  • this is wha I call PURE HEAVY METAL POWER.

  • Where is this footage from?

  • Ronnie James Dio... They smashed the mould when you were made... Thanks for the memories!!!!!!!

  • Wish I was there

  • Rising is my favourite rock album of the 70's (along with Captain Beyond's first one).

Man, Dio has just made every single band he worked with even better. Black Sabbath, for example, was already awesome with Ozzy, but when Dio came... it became freakin' godlike.

RIP Dio, Long Live Rock n' Roll!

  • 29 Idiots don't like this masterpiece. Burn in hell with your disgusting music

  • @MrTennis234 maybe that it's the sound quality that they don't like... i mean...i can be their advocate if the reason of their vote down is the sound quality of the video...otherwise if they don't like the music...so i can do nothing for them... they diserve to be pushed in the heart of the enraged volcano... some sacrifices for our gods are sometimes essential for a good harvest

  • epic

  • RIP Ronnie Jame Dio.. Stargazer is my all time favorite Rainbow song!

  • I believe! oh I believe!

  • you ask where is your star?...its you sir R.I.P. DIO \m/

  • R.I.P ronnie

    ronnie is italian american?

  • @GODKHaaaaaaN yeah... i dont know really.. but more or less.. kinda gypsy guy...

    his grandmother was a gypsy...

  • @GODKHaaaaaaN Yep, born in NY

  • Why the fuck did they not include this on the On Stage album or the live in munich dvd?

  • @lrewopf : Good question. Only reason I never bought one of these two releases. Best song ever in music history.

  • RIP The Great Wizard!!RJD

  • the true master of vocals at work. miss you ronnie.

  • HEAVY METAL POWER

  • A great singer from New York State ! Playing since the late 50s. He did start the Italian "evil eye" horns as a kind of anti OZZY peace sign during the HH or Mob Rules tour can't remember if he did it during H & H definitely did it on the Mob Rules tour !

  • шикарно!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • have always thought this is no 1. of the 10 greatest songs ever made. See you over the rainbow+++

  • My greatest Rock'N'Roll Hero...Ronnie James Dio...I want to come to your concert when we Rock In Paradise...

  • DIO ALWAYS BE MY HERO,MISS ME SO MUCH,THE BIGGEST VOICE EVER R.I.P RONNIE LOVE YOU SO MUCH

  • Comment removed

  • When we gonna meet in hell....Please, sing for me!

  • @dimit1967 Ronnie was an atheist but he so loved to piss off established religion thou.so no hell for Ronnie....or heaven.. Hmmm, were have I heard that before?..The king is dead...long live the king

  • This song is un-fucking-believable (too bad you only got half of it). I know Sabbath came first, but as far as I am concerned Stargazer established what it means to be metal. It is mythic and powerful; it takes hold of your conscience and transports it.

  • @DarthRandall

Rainbow was the first majestic heavy metal, or "power metal" or however it's termed now. Zeppelin did it in rock, Rainbow was metals version.

  • Dragons & Dio

  • miss Dio already...man, what a performer.

  • King of Metal, RIP Dio I will never forget you

I will teach my children all about you and music....you will live forver!!

  • Such an amazing man. So happy i lived to hear his beautiful voice.

  • RIP Ronnie

  • Dio took the bridge to Asgard, and dwells there now.

  • NOW WERE DO WE GOOOOOOOOOOOOO WITHOUT DIO

  • Heavenly, to say the least. RIP RJD, we miss you dearly!

  • DIO & BLACKMORE... A MAGIC COMBINATION

  • R.I.P .. You´ve been rocking my life since 1974 thanx

  • RIP Dio, the greatest stargazer ever!

  • R I P dio will always be one of rocks greatest!

  • RIP Ronnie.

  • @Fireblaze63 i bet he knows it, that comment was posted 9 months ago, it's like a kind of prediction... well, DIO, rock in peace. :'(

  • All celebritys will be gone by 2013 my guess. seriously, Dio, David Cherokee, Billy Mayes, Les Paul, Michael Jackon, Farren Fasset, etc

  • RIP Dio, you were the best!

  • Greatest Rainbow song!!

  • unfortunately he passed away, too many legends die

  • Found out about Stargazer, and I'm amazed.

So much awesomeness in just one song.

    Epic.

  • Rest in peace Dio. Like so many he was my main hero when i was a teen and in my early twenties. Still love all his music. I think this clip is interesting where he comments about losing the appellation "Ritchie Blackmore's" in the name. In truth, it was always Blackmore's Rainbow. That's why Dio and countless others left the band. In the end it was just a vehicle for Ritchies ego.

  • "We feel that our time has arrived

The world spins, while we put his dream together

A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky

    Oh I see his face!

    Where is your star?

Is it far, is it far, is it far?

    When do we leave?"

  • Esteja em paz Deus do METAL ......

Sua musica e sua voz jamais se apagarão de minha memoria

  • REST IN PEACE RONNIE JAMES DIO

Your music was very much a part of my teens and twenties. I still have so many dear memories closely tied up with your music and the way it privided part of the back drop for such an important stage in my life. A true rock god.

  • @barnicle7

Yeah, same here. It's like a part of me died with Dio. R.I.P. you master of the heavy vocals!

  • RIP RONNIE JAMES DIO.

You were and always will be a true rock god. Your music contributed in no small way to my teen and twenties years. It' is so very sad to hear of your passing.

  • I see a rainbow rising ,Look there on the horizon And I'm coming home Coming home, I'm coming home.... ---RIP RJD

  • Rest in Peace dear old Ronnie, thank you so much for bringing us so many great songs over the years.

  • ...se nos fue un dios... pero nos dejo todo su legado, gracias por eso y mas, no es un adios, es un hasta luego... R.I.P.

  • RIP

  • DIO descansa en paz hermano \m/

  • tune!!!!!!!!!! the dogs bollox rip!

  • 怪物が、英雄が、神話の登場人物が、ああ!また一人、舞台から退いた!

    ロニー、あなたの記憶はボクの中に消えることのない傷跡として残り続け、

  • RIP Ronnie

  • R.I.P. Ronnie James, sure glad I got to see you perform live..

  • ronnie is amazing. ritchie is pretty good on slide. great stuff.

  • Rainbow vs Whitesnake, who's better? Ouch...!

  • @ilyrfe

i'd vote rainbow myself :) but whitesnake rock too

  • what a band of thire time .

  • dude whats with the sound??

  • There is no other song in Rock comparable to this.

Drama, most powerfull playing, new scales, Munich Orchestra as icing on the cake.

Unfortanately the recording quality of the original LP and the CD is crap.

  • mbmbmmb

  • Ritchie`s Masterpiece.

Simple Riff but all this drama and forcefull playing, the Munich Orchestra is the icing on the cake. New scales from Ritchie.

Overwhelming. Unfortunately a very bad mix in the original recording, sound is awfull.

  • i love much more the paul simon version

  • Get it to DVD !!

  • I love this song. It's also worth checking out the Dream Theater version as well!

  • @Drummachine22 Hey, I will check that out. Never knew Dream Theater did a version of this?

  • this song brings you into the place call stargazer...ride with them dude..

  • ahhhh!!! METAL!!

  • Get well soon, Ronnie.

  • @TommyDGNR8 welp he's not gonna be getting any better now.

  • @TommyDGNR8 He's dead now!

  • I SEE THE RAINBOW RISSING!!!!!!!!!!

  • Curious if anyone sees Light in the Black as a continuation of Stargazer?

  • State of the Art, Magnum Opus, Masterpiece, Chef-d'oeuvre, I subscribe to all these epithets and more, but even these do not describe in full what a great song "Stargazer" is and it is rueful that it does not get the credit it deserves, especially in the US, where I do not hear it played enough on the mainstream airwaves. When I heard it first on the vynil record back home in Tajikistan, my parents had to put up with listening to the same tune for over a month. Heavy Metal song of all time!!!

  • @HasaniSabbo If I had heard this on the radio once in the last 35 years, I probably would have dies of shock!

  • @2taintme I wonder if people would say the same after 35 years about today's shitty music

  • stargazer is the mother of all metal songs past, present and future,Period.

  • Comment removed

  • dio played bass in his band in 1957, a few bands b4 elf.can also play the sax.........wish i was at that concert

  • Get Well Soon Dio!

  • Id sell my soul for water? Dio is the king of dark lyrics! This was long before it was trendy or profitable! When Heaven and Hell came out my Uncle told me he saw Dio perform in like 1962! He couldnt remember the name of the band as it never made it big. I replied your crazy! Hes not that old! He said and Ill never forget this, Hes older than the fucking Beatles. I think he was right! Needless to say,The man always looks good for his age! Even here he was probably pushing 40!

  • i think it's Elf its before ritchie jumped in kicked the guitarist and the kebordist to get a new one.

  • Thats ritchie! and this is raibow!

  • I believe the band was called "Elf" . RJD is truly a great artist.

  • No it wasnt Elf, way before that one!

  • Hmmm. I am unsure then. I wonder if it can be Googled? I am curious...

  • State-of-the-art Heavy Metal!!!!

  • Cozy Powell is dead. He crashed his car like any respectable Rock Star should do!

  • way not to make any sense bro

  • No complete live footage of this epic song??

  • This is the voice, folks. I have seen Over the Rainbow on 2009.oct.15 in Praha, Joe Lynn is so far from this, totally wasting time to play this song. I gave great respect to Joe, but this just not his song at all.

  • Dio has been the god of metal before Lars and the rest or Mefagita was even thought of.

  • @Angry0212

Yeah don't forget guns n poses too.

  • @Angry0212 Well I Like Metallica,I Like Iron Maiden and I met Dio because of them, Dio is god of metal?yes he is. But doesn't mean desrespect the other bands, just because theiy come after....

  • @s2ths2 Not other bands, just metallica. Lars spoiled it for me. He has such a big head and acts aloof whenever interviewed. I met Dio in the eighties when I worked for a record store. Before show backstage, he was respectful and appreciative of all his fans. Metallica isn't and going after Napster and users was very low. And they sold out. So fuck em'.

  • @Angry0212 this sounds so underground syndrome for me. Well, its perfectly fine that you don't like them ....I don't like slayer for example....I think is boring, just because they change their sound?WTF...I mean, i dont like ac dc that much because sounds the same for me, if musicians dont explore their music....you will be stuck forever in the same hole. I still see metallica as the same guys of Kill'em all. I'm just saying.

  • @s2ths2 stuff that Metallica did covers of "turn the page" a freaking Bob Seger song? Just lost respect for them. But all is cool. Everyone has their favorites and reasons for being their favorites. I'm just saying Metallica got weak and soft and lost me but gained a lot af main stream metal fans, folks that like Slipnot, Buck Cherry and new Van Halen etc... and shit like that.

  • @Angry0212 yeah but still got loyal fans of the old days. Like me.Whatever, Dio Rocks.

  • Super line-up, hope to see Ritchie doing something like this! come on dude, fuck Candice, rock needs you! :(

  • i think he is fucking candice...

  • these 5 guys got together meaning this lineup dio, powell, bain, blackmore, carey, and wrote pretty much a perfect album

  • The 3000 light rainbow was controlled by a portable computer. The first one of it`s kind.

  • Riči je kralj!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best Rainbow lineup! Blackmore, Dio, Powell, Bain and Carey. Too bad it was so short lived. But Rainbow Rising definitely has to be up there as one of the best metal albums of all time. This is the blueprint.

  • Every band where Dio steps gets better, don't you think? I think, for example, that Black Sabbath's got better and better with Dio, today resulting on the best band combination ever (Iommi, Butler, Appice and Dio)!

Let's hope Dio lives forever, because when he dies... well... there's still gonna be Bruce Dickinson...

  • and rob halford

  • Oh, sorry! I forgot to mention him! Thanks for the advice!

  • And still Rob Halford.

    Sad times though!

  • @MisterForsyte Well Dio's gone :( but we do still have Bruce, Tate, and Halford!!

  • @MisterForsyte Well Dio's gone but we still have Bruce, Geoff, and Halford!!

  • @metalcruzer yeah and only that trinity could equal ronnie!

  • I agree with this statement 100%!

Dio sounds like a straight singer but he's far from one. There's so much dimension to his game it's not even funny!

  • what do you mean by "there's so much dimension to his game"? sorry english is not my primary language and that sounds kinda interesting:).

  • "Game" means his skills, his art ect..

  • Thanks! Yeah, then you're right, just saw him at Wacken with Heaven and Hell and he's outstanding.

  • I think he's close to 70 and he still sounds great! Not many singers sound good after 35 let alone 60.

  • RJ DIO have a nice voise! Sorry if i made mistakes in letter

  • Comment removed

  • But is still his name.

Anyway. That was an awsome band!

  • Ronnie James Dio is my favorite HM vocalist of all time. That being said he is also one of the biggest hyprocrites around. Listen to how he says the band should just be Rainbow because everyone contrubutes not just Richie. Yet di he name his band anything else besides Dio? Hyprocrite!

  • Well, Dio is agood name for a group. :o) After all, he didn't call his group Ronnie James Dio's Rainbow.

Anyways, I still think that Stargazer is the first real heavy metal song ever made.

  • "Anyways, I still think that Stargazer is the first real heavy metal song ever made"

Man On The Silver Mountain was the first....Most heavy metal songs after were written in a similar format...The days of Piano were suddenly over..

But then again, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin may have something to say about our comments

  • was that before blue cheers summertime blues im not sure but if so your right
