In answer to the questions. The landing area was not great, so I opted for the "crumpled leg's approach" to keep them safe, plus protecting my ribs & arms. Further along the beach, there is a very steep grassy slope to climb up. I would say its 180 to 200ft vertical, so no freefall.

Nope, the landing did not hurt.On terrain like that, you do not even attempt to stand it up. You need to protect your ankles by doing a PLF.
