It is not a short haired girl...it is a boy. Jonsi (lead singer) is gay. It is a reflection on growing up gay in an intolerant (religious) society. Iceland, while incredibly tolerant today, had its growing pains. The song lyrically has nothing to do with this. The title literally means "a good day for airstrikes" and was taken from an Icelandic weather broadcast during the gulf war. I think it was the second one, based on the year of release.
