"Is Atheism on the March?" The title of a pamphlet i found on my doorstep today by Jahova's witnesses. Looks like the religions are now waking up to the new atheism movement. They porbably think the end times is comming. I just hope whatever happens in the comming years that the theists will keep the violence against us to a minimum.
This is awesome! Wish I could've been there, but do yall remember the Godless Americans March on Washington? I was there for that, and it was really fun. We need another major march like that there now. Thanks for posting this!

I remember my brother telling me when we were very young (he's a little older) that he didn't believe in God and I said what's God? He said he didn't know but he didn't believe in it. I decided right then that there must be a God because he was dumb. :)
I'll lower myself to your level. You use ridiculous arguments with no backing in fact, and if you believe in that style, you are more 'dumb' than your brother. And if you are that 'dumb' then there must be NO God.
However, arguing this on a personal level is ridiculous because there is a vast number of religions with the wise and the 'dumb' minds spread evenly throughout them all (well, there are less dumb atheists, as research has shown)
Actually, I was talking about when I was a little kid. Just making a joke. I'm not sure where you're coming from... Anyway, good luck w/ all that. Incidentally, what do you like better, Coke or Pepsi?
Well, its a start. A very, very humble start. However, I have confidence that if the Atheist community is persistent, the numbers will multiply tenfold by the end of summer, and continue on a steady incline from there. Good luck, and well done!
FUCK YEAH! BY TENFOLD, LETS END RELIGION!!!.......er uhhhh how are we going to multiply tenfold by the end of summer? I would like to know the uplifting secret you know. :)
Theres hundreds of Atheists in America, this is only roughly 15-20. Ten fold would be 150-200. In my view, this is underwhelming. 200 Atheists compared to the 301 million+ Americans is an obvious minority. But, in light of these cirumstances, Atheists should feel more obliged to march along side of their fellow Atheists.
Anyhow, You failed to realize that gatherings like these really shooks up the public in giving them an idea of the fact that religion is no longer the majority, and that they now can dare to think freely.
One smercuri by name stated that atheists hold evolution as a faith. As if to say that faith and belief are one in the same. Namely the theory of Neo-Darwinism. I do not believe in "faith", faith implies I believe in something without premise. Theories are upheld by facts, may I point one out especially: "Evolution is the change in the inherited traits of a population from one generation to the next." Now if we want to argue over how evolution works, that can be surely debated.
Correct. Evolution can mean different things. What I was saying is that both atheists and theists have faith. Atheists beleive that Evolution created the universe, while theists believe that their God did it. Yes, we can argue over how evolution works, and how it does not work. One series here on YouTube that I found interesting was "Evolution and Dawkins smashed to pieces with proof of God". Okay, maybe the title is a bit arrogant, but I liked the videos.
"Actually this is a march for all Americans. All Americans are Godless Americans, becuase there is no God! God has died, and Satan has survived." -Ellen Johnson
I have made no statement about the existence of God on this thread yet. As Johnson decided to make a statement on that, the ball is in her court, and yours. Please provide evidence that 1)all Americans are all godless , 2)God does not exist, 3)Satan has survived, and 4) that God died. If you cannot do these things, then you need to modify your statements about the existence of God in the future so as not to come off as ignorant or arrogant. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
I put those words in Quotes because it is something that Ellen Johnson has said at the march. I do not believe the same thing as her. I wrote that comment to criticize her.

A devastatingly flimsy gathering. Appears to be an after-school scrabble club more than anything else. To call this a "march" reveals the inherent tendency of Dawkinoids to overhype their sagging agenda, to try anything they can to save their precious "new atheism" from an inevitable belly-flop into cultural irrelevancy. Newsflash: the rest of the world has considered your message of intolerance, and you've been largely rejected by intelligent people of all stripes. Move on already.
message of intolerance? are you mentally ill? atheists are the most tolerant of everything except blind stupidity. atheism is the fastest growing way of life, maybe people are finally getting smarter
Rejecting someone's opinion simply because it is different from yours shows blind stupidity. Atheism and religion are both illogical because they both rely on faith. Religion relies on faith in a higher power, atheism relies on faith in Evolution. There is no indisputable evidence for either one.
who said atheism has faith in evolution? faith does not come in to atheism at all, atheism is based on logical conclusions, and even your pope has admitted the scientific accuracy of evolution.
I find it hard to beleive that atheists do not have faith in anything, even Evolution? How then, did this world come into existence? Did life come from nonlife, against the rules of cell theory, or was it created from something or someone? And if it was someTHING, then who created IT?
did your god come from nothing? if not, who created him? why is it so easy to believe your god was always here but the universe had to be created? it is not logical.
That's where faith comes in. Faith in Evolution vs Faith in God. It's a bit difficult to understand, but if God was here from the beginning, before the Universe or even time began, then why does he need a creator? Faith is illogical, it doesn't matter what that faith is in. IN short, just ebcause you believe in atheism and Evolution does not make you nay more logical than me.
yet i try to prove my beliefs with science, not wishful thinking. when i see a child die it is more logical to believe there is no god. anyone who stands by and allows evil to occur is evil, this includes the gods. and stop telling me i have faith in evolution, faith is a religious word meaning there is absolutely no proof, there is plenty of proof of evolution
Since you are so itnerested in science, look at the top of the "Related Videos" area. You should find a video titled "Evolution and Dawkins smashed to pieces by proof of God" There is a series of five videos total, and when you are done watching them we can debate this further.
"Faith (fath) noun- Confident belief in the truth, value, or turstworthiness of a person, idea, or thing." American heritage College Dictionary
What a cowardly act of posting a video without letting people to debate on it. Anyway theists have nothing worthwhile to contribute except to fill in the gaps with your delusional fantasy. Don't you think it's a waste of time to debate on a subject based solely on some crap stories created by some nutty rabbis of old.
Then why don't the scientists show that proof, instead of trying to silence creation scientists? They are not dancers, or athletes, or musicians, they are scientists. Why do they get so upset when Creationists ask questions? And finally, have you had a look at the website for the new movie coming out in February? Ben Stein is in it! Visit expelledthemovie (.com of course) for more information.
I'm upset with anyone who doesn't bring justifiable evidence to backup their argument, debating instead with blind faith and emotions.
Why do creationists try to make their points about creationism and radiocarbon dating in churches, talk shows, and kid museums, instead of in respected scientific journals like a seriously proposed scientific theory?
Because they don't have a shred of evidence that stands up to peer review.
Richard Sternberg got in big trouble for allowing an article in favor of Intelligent Design to pass the peer review process and be published in a scientific journal. So much for tolerance of other's views.
My boss is a fundie and he ranted about how scientology was a religion of evolution and i defended evolution.....all he said to counter me was i believe in micro ev but not macro ev. I said "carbon dating" he said "thats a lie" i said "geological column" he said "i dont believe that". Thats all they have for an argument is to stick thier fingers in their ears!!!
Actually yes I did. A few weeks later I was told to stop by the office on my way out and bang "jason we are afraid you wont be needed here anymore" Translation: We havent liked your liberal hippie talk from day one so heres the door!
Maybe they get upset for the same reason anyone would get upset--they don't like con artists pushing their agenda, asking loaded questions and wasting their valuable time. It's great to have a dialog with someone who has honest questions about evolution, but that's not what most creationists are all about. They are not interested in considering the arguments; they are interested in pushing their agenda.
Wow, impressive "March on Washington". Why, there must have been at least two dozen people there, maybe more! There's safety in numbers, they say.
If nothing else, quite possibly, this video proves better than another other video of its type, that women are apparently further evolved, thus more intelligent than men. At least she brought her own banana.
some of the latest polls are finding atheists closer to 12%. It all depends on how you ask the question, but we are also finding about 25% that fit the "I don't believe in a theistic god" category. The numbers raise as you decrease the age group. Atheists make up 20% of people under 30.
omg the camera movement and the hectic music is unbearable. sorry fellow atheists.
