@metalfnofin XFX is a brand. The Chip is from ATI (of AMD now w/e) but they dont sell the cards. XFX, like others (MSI, Asus, Sapphire) are putting coolers on them, sometimes design the whole pcb again, and sometimes only a sticker. There isnt really a differnce between an XFX 5770 and an Asus 5770, as long as they have the refference pcb (like usually) and have the same clock speed. The biggest difference is their warrenty.

I am seriously wondering how did you get such good framerates on that benchmark. I can barely get 28-30 on average, even when the card is over clocked.

I know this is off topic but I heard that for the motherboard you have, it detects 1600 MHz RAM as 1333 MHZ. I would buy the motherboard in a blink if I knew it wasn't true. What are your experiences with your 1600 RAM on the MOBO? Oh and nice Video Card. I am going to get it soon.

your cpu is bottlenecking it, the 5770 can achieve higher :P

@ZairiamFilms To be fair mate the CPU limiting you receive from that is going to be pretty much nothing at all! People always exaggerate bottlenecking. I seriously doubt that your CPU hits 100% usage on a regular basis during games. Besides, when you do get an aftermarket HSF you will be able to clock this to around the same performance as a stock Q9650. MayB even higher!!! Cheers for the vid, but is the fan on this card loud? Thats all i want to know.

Yes it can get noisy above 65% BUT unless you set it there manually it really never goes that high. I do set it manually because I would rather have a little background noise and a much cooler card than a quiet card with a hotter temp. I have kept it around 50 after a couple of hours of gaming with a slight overclock with 90% power.

also note that it isn't always best to get the latest drivers for newer cards sometime depending on your rig the ones on the disc run better. I tried 3 different drivers with this card & all 3 versions worked just fine. currently running 10.2 I can't wait to benchmark Bad Company 2 with this card!! Maybe 2!!!

In terms of Benchmarks , An AMD 945 @ 3.0 is Definitely Middle of the Road , Most Intel's Overclock at 4ghz on air , Any i7/i5 and sometimes even an i3 will beat it , and so will Quads like the Intel 9550 , Clock for Clock ,AMD 's do less, It's Still a nice budget build...

plus the i7 is more for multitasking & programs that put a load on the CPU not for gaming. IN 3D applications the i7 isn't that far ahead even with triple channel you only see a 2-5% performance increase in most cases with triple channel. You don't need the latest CPU to have something that can run anything on high.

I would say try finding some benchmark videos or reviews (google) for the gts 250 and find the same ones for the 5770.

I can not say the GTS 250 is better not but i will say that I chose the 5770 over it.

I have a GTS 250 and I just bought a 5770 on Newegg this morning... its a great card, but the 5770 is better, it supports GDDR5 memory and it runs DX11... I like Nvidia better than ATi, but I would rather go with the 5770

its crazy how the cpu and ram dont matter too much when it comes to gaming because i have an athlon x2 4800+, a 300watt psu, 2x2gb ddr2 and an xfx 5770, i used the same settings on heaven benchmark and got 25.7fps and 644 as my score

Yeah, you will notice a difference with faster better parts but the GFX card plays a huge role. like GTA IV requires more than just graphics power. It takes alot of CPU and RAM look at my percentage used in the benchmark. also I would highly HIGHLY recommend you upgrade your PSU 300W isn't even close to the minimum requirement for this card. its 450W minimum i have a 500w and i still wish ii had more power. I am using literally every connecter on my PSU.

det everything max and view distance at 32 and you cn run it smooth try it a lot of people with the same spec have these settings and they get 30fps or above average which isnt laggy and better quality and forget about the green thing which tells you about the memory usage
