Hi Darlene I have never heard of this, but it seems like a relative to to traditional Quebec sugar pie, which I just love. Is this a dessert that someone who detests the taste of buttermilk would probably like? How buttermilky is it?
@bagelboi66 Hi Guy, i don't like the taste of buttermilk myself. I have a lot of recipes that use it. Buttermilk syrup, buttermilk icing, buttermilk fudge, etc.... when it's cooked in deserts, it tastes like a rich buttery toffee. No buttermilk flavor. I have never had a sugar pie. I looked at some recipes. I think they are relative. Buttermilk pie has a crunchy sugary topping and a soft buttery custard middle. I think if you try it you will like it. Merry Christmas, Darlene
@DownHomeCooking Thanks Darlene, that's what I thought but figured I'd better ask. I'm no buttermilk fan either!
Have a very Merry Christmas! Wish us good fortune, we're driving through the Rockies Dec 23rd to spend the holidays with family in Kamloops. With the new year comes so many possibilities, I look forward to your 2012 Down Home recipes, and I look forward to being a student again in cooking school! It will be such a fun year. Blessings to you and yours always.
@bagelboi66 Have a safe trip and a wonderful time with your family. I too am looking forwards to your videos. God bless and be well and happy, Darlene
