@morrieswigs That's a bit of a stretch to say, but yeah... pretty great accomplishment. I'll take one super bowl ring over four appearances any day though.
Bills should have gotten more yards and closer for Norwood, sure it wasn't the longest kick of all-time but they really let up....just my opinion.... also i think Parcells and Bellichick cam up with a better gamae plan....just look at time of possession, Giants ran the ball and stuck with it!
Steve Christie would have made that FG. Maybe the Bills don't make it to the next three, if the kick ia good. Guess winning one super bowl is more valuable then going deep into the playoffs year after year.
I still can't get over the fact that The Bills were favored over The Redskins in Super Bowl 26...obviously the Cowboys were no joke in that decade because they won the most Lombardi's, it makes sense that they were favored against The Giants cuz they lost to Buffalo during the regular season when Jim Kelly went down, but Washington really embarrassed them when this team was at it's best.
I remember this game from when I was 15, my best friend was a Giants fan, and we watched this game together, Ive never seen him so upset and so happy within 5 seconds of each other, he didnt even watch the kick, he heard WIDE RIGHT, and then came the in your face!! Still love my Bills tho <3
@vishalb94 I know what you mean. I'm a Patriots fan too. I met Wes Welker the other day. Him and his wife. Real nice people. They treated me with dignity and respect. I love the Patriots more after meeting him. Sunday is a big day. I'm hoping they win BIG!
@waterhead001 Cool that must have been awesome! But ya but after losing the superbowl 1 time im affected so much and never can stop thinking abt it and the Bills losing it 4 times in a row god help those people! if the patriots lost 4 in a row id kill myself and thats really the truth!
@vishalb94 They should have won that game. That's hard enough, but losing all 4! It would take me awhile to get over that. They say going to the Superbowl and losing is more devastating than never going at all. Remember the 1998 Vikings. They were 15 and 1. They rolled over everyone. I think they probably would have won it all. They lost to the Falcons, at home in overtime in the NFC Championship game. That's gotta hard too. I really hope the PATS win on Sunday. Take care :)
I never liked Buffalo, even back in these days, but to go to the Super Bowl, and barely lose, then go back and get blown out by both Washington and Dallas, but have enough courage to go back one more time, is really something. They deserved to win a Championship. Of all their players, I really enjoyed watched Jim Kelly back in the day, and its sad as great as he was he never got a ring.
@LivingWorstNightmare Amen Brother !! And a lot of people forget Kelly called his own plays! A great QB and true Hall of Famer! Andre Reed should be in there too! 2012!
I'm really shocked about the love the that Bills are getting in the comments. I think that's great, and it makes a Bills fan appreciative of what they once had (cause they ain't got nothin' at the moment). I give the BIlls the #1 spot...I'd rather go to none and wonder, than go to four straight and flutter.
giants fan here. If I had known they would have lost 4 in a row I would have hoped they would have won Super Bowl 25 but that day I was rooting for the GMEN.
giants fan here. If I had known they would have lost 4 in a row I would have hoped they would have won Super Bowl 25 but that day I was rooting for the GMEN
I'm a skins fan, FROM dallas. And yeah... The bills deserved atleast one. I would of enjoyed it if they beat the shit out of the G-men or the Cowboys....
I am born and raised in DFW, Texas so I am a Cowboys fan, but this installment of the missing rings is a tear jerker. I know quite a few people call the cowboys the team of the 90s but damn buffalo was AFC champs for 4 straight years in the 90s and it one of which they mounted the greatest comeback in NFL history to get to the super bowl. They did really deserve the ring especially against the dipshit Giants hahahahaha!!!
If anything, the Buffalo Bills had the BEST Offense in all the AFC for all those years. The only team that can be argued was better, was the Oilers, but the Run and Shoot destroyed them in the end.
In terms of snakebit franchises, you have to put the Browns at number 1. The Browns have back luck period. At least the Bills made it to the Super Bowl 4 times, 0 Super Bowls for Cleveland. And everything seems to go wrong for Cleveland. In 2007, all Cleveland had to do was beat the 5-9 Bengals and they make the playoffs, and they blow the game. I can't leave bottle gate out for Cleveland's back luck. And in 2002, they blew a 17 point lead to the Steelers.
@patsrule213 now that you think about it, according to NFL networks top 10 snakebit franchises, i would change it up to have the Vikings at #3, the Bills at #2, and the Browns at #1. i would put the Bills at least higher on the list than #10!!!
I wouldn't put the Bills at number 2 on the top 10 snakebitten franchises. I would put them at 10 but I have to move them up to 9 because the Saints aren't snakebitten anymore. And here's why. In 1968, Buffalo gets lucky when the Eagles hand them the number 1 pick, whch that year was OJ Simpson. And I'm referring to his football playing days. And you have the greatest comeback in postseason history. So you have to put the Eagles and Oilers ahead of the Bills.
@illman300 I have to agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's some excitement but men are more excited by accomplishment and a kid finally popping out of the womb is not really the man's accomplishment.
this is still my choice for the most exciting Super Bowl ever..." a classic battle of wills" as NFL Films put it in their SB XXV film. people forget how good the Giants were that year--they started off the year 10-0, lost their starting QB and still finished 13-3 and beat the 2-time defending World champ 49ers in San Fran...NY also allowed the least amount of points defensively....I felt for the Bills team and fans and the character it takes to come back from a loss like that is immeasurable
a great season, that pity that there are lost, one of great super bowl that eh seen in my life, I am fans of steelers but great season of bills, a greeting from Mexico
when are we evr gong to get amother team like this? god it seems so impossible that we ever had a team this good..i mean the team we have had for the past several years is so predicatble...lynch up the middle..then a dump off to a slow tight end then its 3rd and 14..so we call a play to the sideline for a 4 yard gain...I AM SICK OF IT!!..wheres the passion..the guts and the domination and attitude we once had..chain gailey better figure it out FAST!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
before 1991 most people did not give a damn about iraq. and suddenly everybody is gushing with patriotism. nobody ever bothered to ask, why are we sending troops there. disgusting
They should have won SB XXV. If they would have, I don't think that they would have been to four straight. They may have made it back the next year, but Washington would have beaten them, albeit in a much closer game because the Bills wouldn't have been as uptight with a title in their belt.
@troyterry2445 I'm a Niners fan--so I'm SPOILED by Super Bowl success, 5 FOR 5! ;)
But yes, the Buffalo Bills deserved a Super Bowl win...making it to 4 straight Super Bowls isn't quite winning won, but it's pretty damn close...Jim Kelly, you NEVER have to hang your head in shame.
Rex Grossman--YOU DO! ;)
And on another note--this really just goes to show that you should play for the TD sometimes, NOT the FG...Brady's made a LIVING off of Vinatieri's leg, but still, go for the TD...
@troyterry2445 Thank you. Im a Bills fan from Buffalo and I agree with you! Even though the Dolphins are our hated rival, Back in the day if the Bills were out of it I rooted for Marino, Shula and Miami. We all respected them here.
@troyterry2445 As a Giants fan, I rooted for Washington the next year because I actually kind of like Washington, but the last two against Dallas I wanted to see them win. It's an unfortunate case of running into teams who are just a little better. I always thought they turned the ball over so much in the final three because they never really recovered from Wide Right. Maybe they wouldn't have won but were better than to get blown out the way they did.
It sucks but at the time the NFC was so much better than the AFC too. People called the NFC Championship the 'real Super Bowl.' From the Bills perspective, they were at the time the absolute best team in the AFC, and regardless of what happened in the Super Bowl itself, sure they deserved to win one, but just making it there 4 times is a pretty big accomplishment. That in itself ain't easy to do.
The Bills should've went for the touchdown!!!
