Of the 33 ackowledged developed countries of the world 32 have universal healthcare. Sadly the USA is not one of them. Medicare is a one payer healthcare system that works. We should simply extend this benefit to all U.S. citizens. It makes sense to have universal healthcare because it is for the common good of all citizens. It also makes good economic sense for the nation as a whole. The Reagan presidency was the beginning of America's decline in every aspect of what once made the USA great.

This is Ronald Reagan being on the wrong side of history and speaking against medicare. That is, healthcare for old people. Today, the sanctity of medicare was used against Obama's healthcare bill. Even the most conservative republican believes it is a good program now. Reagan was such a pile of shit

You know what is funny about this? Ronald Reagon was PAID to say these things by the AMA to oppose Medicare... I guarantee if people knew this, they wouldn't be touting it around trying to scare people into being against this new law. Ronald Reagon was an ACTOR at one time too, people.... Also, if you ask the people that are benifeting from having medicare... to give it up... I guarantee they would not.. even if they are against this law.

this is exactly what insurance companies have done to the family doctor. The insurance companies dictate who gets covered, and they dictate the medicine that our current doctors practice. You can not post a 50 year old message and think that it applies in this situation. You have to understand who the intended audience is, and the state of medical system at the time. We also had blatant racism, bigotry, and woman were second class citizens, lets all go back to the ideology of the 50s.

50 years ago the Polio vaccine was invented and Smallpox was eradicated. So when we advocate their use or state the benefits we are also somehow advocating racism and denigrating women's rights?
