  • We have Michael Dowd's book "Thank God for Evolution-How the Marriage of Science and Religion will transform you life, and our World", but I've never got around to reading it. I must do that, as it's apparently such an awesome book!! I also class him as one of my favourite theologians of all-time. Sadly, he's never,(as far as I'm aware, anyway) come "down under" yet, which is a shame, as if he did come I'd definitely attempt to get tix to catch him!

  • I like this explanation.. unveiled eyes see clearly..

  • It's becoming so conscious it can put on seminars and charge a subscription

  • To say that evolution proves Christ isn't going to return is one of the most offensive things one can say in a church. The whole point of Christianity is the advent of Jesus' second coming. There's no Christian spirituality where that isn't a concrete object of hope. To get rid of the Bible's truth claims is to get rid of Christianity altogether.

  • @5555miles What is true is essential and can never be lost, only hidden for a while. The Truth of Love, our natural inheritance and essential being, is closer than hands and feet and nearer than the breath :)

  • I wonder if this guy does sermons for deists? Some of this feels pantheistic, but I feel that he is on the right track. I would argue rather than the universe becoming conscious of itself, it was already self-aware. He might be one of Christians' last hopes at bringing Christianity out of religious dogma, but into a world of reality and spirituality.

  • Brilliant

  • hes actaully saying we are God in a sense. like parts of God. in a way we are the picture God is the painter. the universe doesnt need us to be conscious of itself. God dont need us to be conscious of itself. some of what he says is true but if you listen hes saying the new age junk that God is broke up in pieces as us

  • the universe was allready conscious of itself.. how else did it create. It dont need us to be conscious of itself.

  • @Unityspirit50 We are an expression of the Universe (or MultiVerse) another way the Kosmos is aware (or plays hide and seek) of ItSelf. A universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary. If God truly exists, then we are God in expression. God is but Love and therefore so are we (everything else is of the dream).

  • finally a church or preacher that speaks my language!!!! science and spirituality can coexist after all.

  • wow, he is pretty much verbalizing what i've always felt to be true through my own experience

  • Great what he is saying

  • wow. wow. that's inspiring. stop the arguing, start talking in ways that everyone understands. Evolution is a truly universal and beautiful function of existence. I absolutely love the idea that God is in every part of everything, not some guy watching over us and nudging us to do stuff. We are all God. Also, fact is fact and this view does not try to discredit what science shows to be true. Down with flat-Earth thinking! I'm not stuck, I'm evolving!

  • I'm in awe to think that God's infinite creative forces lie within me and around me. It brings a new energy and sense of purpose to my life.

I am a part of God and I am a part of the Cosmos.
