I helped re-roof "The Manor" at Shipton on Cherwell.Saw Richard Brandson having a look at the work from the side door of a helicopter as work was going on.Brandsons gardener stayed to work for the new owners. He told stories of the ppop start who used to stay there,it was almost a hippy commune.I love the booklet in the Mike Oldfield boxed set, tells how he and a friend would go to the local pub, come back loaded, drop things down the stairs, like tea trays, record it,and work on sounds next day.
@goback3spaces Do you really think they look both male and female at the same time?
I was brought up and lived through the 60's when rock musicians were rough and ready and their fans all had long hair. It was part of the unspoken code to show what music we affiliated ourselves with. It all went a bit pear shaped when the likes of Bon Jovi came along in the 80's with their primped to within an inch of its life hair though.
@goback3spaces No offence taken my friend :) i can see where you were coming from though because in my eyes its difficult to tell the differences between the sexes when it comes to Goth's. I suppose i come from a different time line.
@Ivangekko I've watched it several times but that doesn't up the ante, I'm afraid. Also watched it so see Pierre Moerlen and other great people perform, but Mike is still the best of all!
@lejimi2 There are listed credits at the end of the part 3 video. I know the guitarists are Steve Hillage, Mick Taylor (who was still with the Stones at the time) and Fred Frith (from Henry Cow - another band signed to Virgin at the time) and one of the keyboard players is Mike Ratledge (from Soft Machine) can't remember the rest offhand, but check out the end :)
I love this piece. It is among the first that turned me on to Instrumental Music. Mike Oldfield is a musical genius. I love this very much. Under the old rating system, I give it 5 stars!

Branson mentioned that he gave up his Bently (wedding gift from his parents) to Mike Oldfield just to make him go onstage and perform that day.
MO didn't perform live since then.

In my mind that was when real rock music died.
Peace :)

@RumbleGuts2112 Yeah, sure, no offense intended. I actually prefer the look of Oldfield and his crowd to the 80s look. Salud.
