I dunno I live here... and to be honest I've met a LOT of people who speak french, just about all of Quebec speaks French, and in places like Halifax, and toronto, there are tons of French immergine schools that only speak French.
It might also be a coincidence that you have met people in Canada who speak French, since that's one of the languages that are taught in many of the schools due to Quebec and its "French culture" side. I'm not saying that there aren't people who speak French, but it is a bit over exaggerated that you said HALF of Canada speaks French.
It is true that there are French immersion schools that only speak French, but the thing you have to keep in mind is that many if not all Universities and Colleges in Canada teach in English, even those in Quebec. It is also true to say that English is more of a dominant language in Canada, since way back Canada was tied to Britain.

As well as French immersion schools, there are French only schools in the French communities pretty much everywhere across Canada.

And, contrary to popular belief, French culture in Canada didn't start in Québec but it started in NS and NB with the Acadian population. There is still about 1/3 of New-Brunswick that is composed of French speaking Acadians. There are also French communities all across Canada.
There are also French schools and French Universities as well as French immersion. 1/3 of New-Brunswick is French and there are French communities throughout Canada. I went to French school (not the same as French immersion where you go to English school but learn everything in French). The "Université de Moncton" is a world renowned French University in New-Brunswick. People come from all over the world to study there.

Incredibly interest video, I had to watch it a couple of times. The music was perfect for what you were trying to do, I thought. Incredibly interest video, I had to watch it a couple of times. The music was perfect for what you were trying to do, I thought. What were you thinking when you made this video, were you scared how people would view it and the comments they would make? For what it is worth one of the best videos I have seen.
