Mark Wahlberg is Very Convincing

Initially I expected this to be a scary movie, however I realized that something was off when I saw that M. Night Shamylan was responsible for its creation. He seems to be incapable of making a decent movie anymore... I enjoyed this movie as a form of comic relief and believe that it was worth an hour and a half of my life just to hear this line.

@FckYourMorals No, it's more terrible acting than terrible screenwriting. The writing's not great, but it's not godawful- Shyamalan's done worse before and it's come off as more convincing. It was a unique premise, and good actors could have sold these lines. For some reason, Mark Walhberg just decided not to act for this movie and Zooey Deschanel is cute but she can't act full stop. There isn't a single line in this travesty the two of them didn't butcher.

@FckYourMorals Well in this case there was no real problem with the inflection- the real problem was with the pace and tone of the line. It was much slower than someone's real reaction would have been, and it came off as a little patronising to the old woman, which is why some people think it comes off as not very genuine of convincing. He's supposed to be shocked that she would think they're trying to kill her. TBH, this line wasn't that bad- there's just a general lack of emotion throughout...

You people do realize this film is close to a parody, right? The acting is terrible because the actors were intentionally giving B-movie style performances. Although in the end Shyamalan failed with this overall idea that was his initial intention. Not making excuses for the film, it IS a complete failure in the end, but giving you the reason for why the line readings in scenes like this one are cheesy and badly delivered.

I loved the trailer and story plot of this movie but ended up EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I hated the acting the most. Very unbelievable. Characters showed no emotion and unrealistic paranoia that it made you not even care for any ones death. Just left you waiting for how the next suicide would play out. I read tha M.
