I have to admit, that this kind of hunting seems pretty brutal and unnecessary to me, the way its done. I mean, common guys, we have guns and its not necessary to kill animals with knives and dogs. I've been out with my father hunting roe's since I'm like 8 years old and I've always loved hunting, but this is more like slaughtering than hunting. can you give me some tips? i plan on hunting some dense shrub along a creek side where it looks like the hogs all meet up. its deep into the weeds, with 2 feet deep water. the shrub is deep and hard to walk through. i can only use a shotgun because of regulations. what type of shell? how quiet do you have to be? what time do you hunt? do i worry about scent? how long of hunting before you know youve been beat?
@LeaveTroll my best advice, get a lease of your own,use Hog cages,I use an 870 pumpshotgun with 3in double O buckshot,you can find a brand that works for you,as for deep water, couldnt go wrong with flat bottom boat,maybe 14 footer. as for being quite ,I mean you dont really have to be quite as you would be deer hunting,I was trapsing the woods and had herd of 12 hogs run me up a tree.,and Hog hunting ,at least here in Texas is year round,because they are a nusiance animal,Good luck on hunting

What are feral hogs endangering? Deer fawns, wild turkey, quail and other ground bird's eggs and chicks, various reptiles and amphibians, young rabbits, pretty much anything on the ground that they can catch. They do a lot of damage.

I highly doubt that the natural predators of any given area don't control the problem. The pig numbers will drop to a point where they cant affect much once the food source numbers drop. They wont eradicate all deer, turkey, lizards and other ground animals. More likely they will eat off of insects, roots, and farm crops

We dog and knife hunt hogs and it's less inhumane than shooting them with a bow. Many people just have a problem with up close and personal killing. In one of our videos you can see just how quickly they die when you know what you're doing. I make a couple of quick stabs and in 5 seconds it's all over.
@BrisbaneGoFish I wasn't asking about the knives because we do it all of the time. But if you're curious, I use a custom Ruben Calo pig sticker with an 11" blade, we are also sponsored by Cold Steel and they have sent us their Boar Hunter which has an 8 3/4" celtic style blade. We've also used Cold Steel Recon Tantos but the longer thinner bladed knives work better.

There really is no way of justifying this kind of hunting when stalking it then killing it with a gun or bow is so much more humane. The only reason people do this kind of hunting is they get off on the excitement and the suffering of the animal, or because its easier since the dogs do most of the work.

@hairyamos I have no problem with hunting. But the fact is there are much more humane ways of killing the pig. Not only is shooting it more human, its less work and doesn't require dogs. You go out of your way to hunt this way because you get your rocks off getting up close and personal with the pig and wrestling with it as you stab it over and over again. Meanwhile your dogs are doing all the dirty work for you.
if youre no tperfect with a bow or even a gun it'll walk around bleeding and suffering until you can get close. As for "being attacked by dogs is horrible for the animal" most animals die by other animals eating them, so being hunted is pretty natural. I'd never go knife hunting cause id rather not go stab animals to death, actually its more the dogs than the knife that seems cruel tbh. knives are pretty quick if you just pin it down and slit its throat, but good luck pinning a pig by yourself.

I have no problem with people hunting them, in fact I think all states should put a bounty on them to prevent further ecological damage. But the fact remains that simply shooting them is a much more humane and efficient way of killing them.
@StewartLucrative We shoot them and trap them too but dogs are also a very effective method to find hogs that are way out in the woods. It's not always possible to stalk them in the places they're at because they'll hear or smell you long before you get into a position to shoot them. It's obvious you don't know much about hunting or removing depredating feral hogs because your argument is ridiculous. Shooting them is easier but it's not always the most effective method of removal.

can you give me some tips? i plan on hunting some dense shrub along a creek side where it looks like the hogs all meet up. its deep into the weeds, with 2 feet deep water. the shrub is deep and hard to walk through. i can only use a shotgun because of regulations. what type of shell? how quiet do you have to be? what time do you hunt? do i worry about scent? how long of hunting before you know youve been beat?

@LeaveTroll my best advice, get a lease of your own,use Hog cages,I use an 870 pumpshotgun with 3in double O buckshot,you can find a brand that works for you,as for deep water, couldnt go wrong with flat bottom boat,maybe 14 footer. as for being quite ,I mean you dont really have to be quite as you would be deer hunting,I was trapsing the woods and had herd of 12 hogs run me up a tree.,and Hog hunting ,at least here in Texas is year round,because they are a nusiance animal,Good luck on hunting

Hunters in most cases help perserve and protect unimproved land, land where animals live and reproduce. It is their right to manage that land as they see fit as long it is legal. If all these so called animal rights people put their money where there mouth is and went out and bought their own land they could let all the little animals run around in harminy, which would be great if thats what they wanted to do with it. I highly doubt that the natural predators of any given area don't control the problem. The pig numbers will drop to a point where they cant affect much once the food source numbers drop. They wont eradicate all deer, turkey, lizards and other ground animals. More likely they will eat off of insects, roots, and farm crops

the only reason i dislike most hunting is because its done by guns which makes it as easy to hunt as going to the store. With a gun, there's no sport or challenge in it. We dog and knife hunt hogs and it's less inhumane than shooting them with a bow. Many people just have a problem with up close and personal killing. In one of our videos you can see just how quickly they die when you know what you're doing. I make a couple of quick stabs and in 5 seconds it's all over.

@WildHogHunters Its still very distressful for the hog to be attacked bit and pinned down by a bunch of dogs. There really is no way of justifying this kind of hunting when stalking it then killing it with a gun or bow is so much more humane. The only reason people do this kind of hunting is they get off on the excitement and the suffering of the animal, or because its easier since the dogs do most of the work.

@StewartLucrative Oh yeah cause we like animals to suffer, your a dumbass....Atleast this pig got to live free instead of inside a concrete box, where it is over fed and waiting to be slaughtered...This pig probably had a very happy life...And catching hogs with dogs is no easier than going to the store and buying a pack of bacon...That bacon your eating came from a pig that a terrible life in captivity, so quit watching videos of this shit if you've got a problem with it

@hairyamos I have no problem with hunting. But the fact is there are much more humane ways of killing the pig. Not only is shooting it more human, its less work and doesn't require dogs. You go out of your way to hunt this way because you get your rocks off getting up close and personal with the pig and wrestling with it as you stab it over and over again. Meanwhile your dogs are doing all the dirty work for you.

if youre no tperfect with a bow or even a gun it'll walk around bleeding and suffering until you can get close. As for "being attacked by dogs is horrible for the animal" most animals die by other animals eating them, so being hunted is pretty natural. I'd never go knife hunting cause id rather not go stab animals to death, actually its more the dogs than the knife that seems cruel tbh. knives are pretty quick if you just pin it down and slit its throat, but good luck pinning a pig by yourself.

@StewartLucrative The hogs are killed, I'm sure they're a little distressed over that, but that's life. Also, if you think this type of hunting is easier then you're a complete moron. You try chasing a bunch of dogs running through the woods, through creeks, up embankments to get to a hog. We do it because that's the only way you get to a bunch of these hogs that we have to kill to keep them from tearing up crops. Go back to your little MMA fantasy world, the men are talking over here.

@WildHogHunters I'm not anti hunting, and I am fully aware that they are a non-native, invasive species. I have no problem with people hunting them, in fact I think all states should put a bounty on them to prevent further ecological damage. But the fact remains that simply shooting them is a much more humane and efficient way of killing them.

@StewartLucrative We shoot them and trap them too but dogs are also a very effective method to find hogs that are way out in the woods. It's not always possible to stalk them in the places they're at because they'll hear or smell you long before you get into a position to shoot them. It's obvious you don't know much about hunting or removing depredating feral hogs because your argument is ridiculous. Shooting them is easier but it's not always the most effective method of removal.

@WarriorJRD97 kills the hog alot faster. and so many animals including hogs get shot and run off and live in pain for a long time. i used to be against this shit but honestly its the most humane

i don't get why didn't they use a gun. what i'm to be impressed they use a knife. they had hunting dogs drag it to the ground. now if he would of fought it with some man vs pig action and took it down in a epic battle it would of been awsome
