Angie, or not Angie? Some say (including her) that she was a small but vital part of his transition from folksy rock to a more androgynous (and therefore Ziggy and therefore all that followed) look, but he was pretty darn androgynous before that anyway. Bowies career is littered with right time/right place people (Alomar, Rogers, Eno, Visconti) who, although great in their own fields only "worked" with Bowie whilst he wanted so. I've read that it was a marriage of convenience (I think it probably started out that way), but I also think that he truly loved her and was terribly hurt by her.
