@bungholio989 Yes, it took awhile but SNLove decoded it for us a few months ago, the Farina brother's 1959 hit Sleepwalk. Great that you could identify it since so many folks know the tune but cannot put the names to it. The YouTube video of their 1959 performance is great, by the way.
What is that opening lick? I know that's not part of the studio version of OSB... anyone know? I have a feeling it's from an old 1960s song or something?!
@SNLove15 This version of Old September Blues was released as the "ga-ed out" version on the Heartbreakin Man ep. It is superior to the other versions in my opinion. The intro does sound like a 60's beach movie instrumental, like Duane Eddy or Dick Dale. It sounds very familiar to a teen movie theme song I cannot place at the moment. Of course, Jim nicked Hawaii 5-0 for the intro to Off the Record, so he very well could have an ear for some of these old instrumentals. I love 'em.
@ztimeisnow This has been driving me nuts. I've been listening to this version a lot (I just bought Heartbreakin Man on eBay), and I found out that it's a cover of Santo and Johnny's "Sleep Walk." Check it out! It's a great song. A great cover too.
@Villeslgr Otis Redding? Santriani did a good cover, too. Never seen Sleepwalkers, but the original tune is used in the soundtrack. Modest Mouse did an interesting cover as well.
This is absolutely brilliant! How did you separate their show from the rest of the footage? I've always wanted to do this for this show and NOW its done! Reason I asked is I produced and webcasted this show way back in 1999, (you can see my 52media banner in the background). Thank you for offering this incredible moment in music and MMJ history for everyone ztimeisnow., you rule...Flo-
@52media Years ago I saved this stream from the web, don't recall if it was from 52media or Google Video or what format. I downloaded trial software until I found something to convert it into an editable AVI format.
Recently I got a camera to vid my newborn baby requiring me to buy video editing software (Majix Movie Edit Pro) and found I could fairly easily resync the sound and extract the songs. If you helped facilitate the original, thank you. If you have better sourc file, let me know.
The opening song is "sleepwalk" by Santo and Johnny

@SNLove15 I was just joking about the Otis Redding part, he just has a ton of songs that start with that very first part in it.
