  • @ulthori

Just start saving now ;-) Good luck !

    Val

  • Incredibly beautiful and relaxing. I love the way you play this piece. I play it on viola but not as wonderful as you play it on lute. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Have a good night ;-)

    Val

  • BWV 1007 is my fave cello suite and Courante is my fave movement. You play it very nice Val! Glad I found your channel! You play the complete movements and love to hear your lute sound. Relaxing and at the moment, thrilling. Bravo Val!

  • Thanks a lot, this is beautiful music by Bach.

    All the best

    Val

    Valéry

  • Superbly done, thank you for posting this! It's very pleasant (and relaxing) to listen to as I study.

  • Thanks to you for coming and listening ;-)

    Regards

    Val

  • I wonder if most lutists have nails like classical guitarists; it just seems like the lute has a fleshy sound to it.

  • Most of the lutenist play without nails (as I do). Just a few play with.

    Regards

    Val

  • wonderful! thanks for this my friend!

  • Thanks to you for listening ;-)

    Val

    V.

  • Do I take this as agreement ? Yes I do... so Thanks... (try to be more explicit if possible... as I'm an old man...)

    Thanks again,

    Val

  • Very moving, excellent as always. My sincerest thanks for posting this suite!

  • Thanks a lot for the kind words ;-)

    Val

    V.

  • Very Good! I love it!

  • Thanks my friend ;-)

    V.

    Salutations,

    Valéry

  • You give such clarity to Bach that string players always strive for.

    Great performance!

    -Matt

  • Perhaps easyer to get clarity on the lute more than on bowed strings ? (I don't know as I don't play viol or cello...)

    Thanks

    Val

  • i like it.

it must be a great experience to play Bach on a baroque lute.

    :)

  • Yes it is ;-)

    V.

  • beautiful on baroque lute also!

    working hard on Bach? :-)

    nice job.

    Vicente

  • Yes, this month is Bach, Bach and Bach again... but nice to work on this music...

    Thanks and kind regards

    Val

  • Do you have a monthly program? Every month another composer?

  • No ;-) just as I feel but this month I feel playing this suite.. ;-)

    Val

  • Thank You for Your letter, Valéry. Congratulations to Didier, Luthvaliant maker! 4 JRDL 1981, a good exercise: take the score and make yourself a guitar tablature. Segovia, Renbourn, Dadi... it's allright... 4 your hands, thinkin' that Django had only 8 fingers and Maurice wrote a Concert 4 left hand... I'm back to You, Valéry... Why Roma? Did You win the "prix de" like Claude did? I'm jokin'... Yours faithful since 2008, Lucio Belli

  • Roma, because Peo did record the prélude there...

    Ciao Lucio ;-)

    Regards

    Val

  • J'apprécie particulièrement cette position. Bravo, Val ! Très belle musique !

  • Salut Roger,

    Val

  • Very good, Valéry. Gusta Goldschmidt is one of our great legends on the lute. She used to be a harpsichordist first, did you know?

    Salut Ernst

  • Yes Ernst, Gusta was a great Lady... I didn't knew she play harpsichord.

    Amitiés,

    Valéry

  • That was beautiful!Thank you!XOXO

  • Thanks to you for listening and commenting ;-)

    Val

  • Hi Val! Like Bruno, I thought the next Bach would be in 2-3 weeks but here I am listening to my French friend playing my all time favourite composer so well, that I wish I had a lute... I think I will play Bach todat too! Merci mon ami!

    Per-Olov

  • Bonjour Per-Olov,

He hope next week I can post the famous Prélude from this suite... ;-) (but I won't go to Roma to film it hélas...)

    Merci d'écouter, à bientôt !

    Amitiés,

    Valéry

  • beautifully played, val ... many, many, many, many ... many years from now, i think wings will suit you very nicely.

  • Ah Bill, you're a poet...

    V. ;-)

  • Mmmmm....Bach cello suites....

    Is there anything better?

  • Perhaps but one of the better music ever wrote...

    V.

  • Sounds like a lullaby. Amazing inspiration from the old Europe. Tell me, where can I find the tablatures in guitar.

  • I don't have guitar tabs but I think it could not be too difficult to find on the web.

    Best regards

    Val

  • Hey Valerie!

I thought when you said it would take a while for you to post another Bach, it would take a month not a few days! Better for me that I didn't have to wait for so long! BRAVÍSSIMO as always!

  • Thanks Bruno ;-)

(I'm working in parallel, when one is ready, I have to polish the next...) Maybe some will be later other sooner...

    V.

  • Hello

I'm in Poitou (center of France) and my lute was made by Didier Jarny. It is a baroque lute with 13 courses.

    Regards

    V.

  • Well done, Valéry.

And now we are waiting for the Sarabande.

    Regards,

    Trond

  • Hello Trond,

I'm sorry you'll have to wait for the Sarabande a little bit, but I have to go back to the Prelude... (in fact it will depend witch one will be ready first...)

    All the best,

    Val

  • There is not a more beautiful sound in the world than a Bach bass note played on your lute.

    Excellent!

    Amitiés,

    Jasper

  • Hello Jasper !

    Merci beaucoup ;-)

    Valéry

    Val

  • Hi my friend!

    How are you??

I love the Bach's music and you played it exelent!

    My best, Rigo

  • Thanks Rigo,

I'm fine (playing Bach is a joyful experience...)

    Val

  • Hi Val,

thanks for this video! Really nice playing, with much love to the lute and it´s music!

    Keep it going!

    Best Tommy

  • Thanks Tommy,

I know it's not perfect, but baroque lute is so hard to play... and I don't want to do editing in video recordings... But Bach's music is great !

    Regards,

    Val

  • Hi Val,

I never do any editing either in my music videos, more than (sometimes) adding a little reverb and fade in and/or fade out. I simply don´t own that kind of music software to successful cut in the middle of the music making it "better". I always play my pieces uncut from the beginning till the end. But I do like to edit and add (hopefully) beautiful moving pics to the pieces I do play.

    Best regards Tommy

  • Yes you're right, no editing (I've done in some earlier videos, like folias as it was one of the first with baroque lute, but I will re-record it now)

As I said before I like your pics but I'd love to see you play too... (and you beautiful instruments... I want another vid with Pandora)

    Best regards

    Val ;-)
