What are we, insane? By 2040, 220 mph will be considered slow, and America will once again be behind the rest of the world. This project is proposed to take far too long and as a result costs far too much. There has to be a more efficiant way of development.
@gibb1991 I agree, the US needs to take a quantum leap in technology and funding. They have to be dead serious as to how they want to stand in present and future development in high speed rail, and having a high spped rail network throughout the US could be the one thing that makes the US a greater economic power house by inner city expansion and the creation of new markets for development.
@Trainmaster189 the shot at :19 isn't a website, it is video footage of a display board at the Amtrak news conference. You can download the PDF with all the info from Amtrak's online newsroom.
agree, the TGV 560KM/H run is a theoretical test, this speed isn't test for conventional , whcih is why you do not see any 560km/h TGV train in SERVICE, the most recent CONVENTIONAL test train is CHR380A in china on Sept 30, set the new record to 416km/h with PASSANGER, the train actually put in service rihgt away. (shanghai - nanjing). TGV is still the fastest in terms of just speed (regardless put into service or not) but china will catch up. i
It is a good idea for both US and China to build more HSR lines to reduce the use of cars, hence to reduce CO2 emission.

At 0:19, do you know what website where the Amtrak high speed rail concept is from?

I don't like how slow we are going on high speed rail in america we need to get more
aggressive on planning and funding.

@Darksteelbeast Yup, US need to be as aggressive as China. enough with "long term vision and planning", just start building already! =P
