Is it me, or does anyone else think this car should have some wider tires? I think it would be much better for the cars stability and handling, although straight line speed might suffer a it, but the car is is so quick anyway and unless you are racing for seconds on the clock, it won't really matter.

@TheTruthHurtsYup no probably you're wrong. I firmly believe that engineers made the best (possible) choice for mainstream tracks. Adding a larger tire would add extra weight and grip which will translate into higher 0-60. I think that it's faster this way.

@atma weird, you basically said what I said while tellin me I was wrong xD I said it would make the straight line speed suffer, but I'd be willing to sacrafice that for better grip becuase I don't drive for seconds on the clock. I've driven a Atom and the thing gets squirrely and the tires just aren't large enough for the power and weight. That is why when you see a Atom accelerate hard it is jumpy and the back end doesn't plant down the power.

Yes, there is. While the car will create less drag and have a higher top speed, it will be a lot less stable and will be much slower on mid to high speed corners. The aerodynamic properties of the car would fall dramatically if you removed these features (they are the most essential, after all).

Its just a chassis with a honda motor on it and a superchager. Its only has 300hp its fast because it has a amazing weight to power ratio. That means its really light.

@redghost105 That would not be very smart. those engines are big and heavy and would screw up the performance. People are getting 700+ hp out of these engines. I would throw a turbo on it and get the hp up around 500-600 to the wheels. anything over that would be counter productive... hell, even 500-600 is probably.. you can see it burning tires in 3rd gear stock.

@Greendude33 multiple tests of the zr1 repeatedly result in in 11.5 1/4 mile mark. Getting in the 10's takes a LOT of horsepower and/or weight reduction to a normal sports car. a 1 second difference doesnt seem like a lot, but in drag racing it is huge. At 128 miles an hour that is about 188 feet difference. Maybe with slicks and a great driver and some weight reduction a zr1 will, but did you see how bad the atom was spinning out and STILL did 10.6 with an average car test driver?
