The plane is called "Shinden" or "Magnificent Lightning" in English. It's supposed to be made a multi-role jet intercepter. The propeller powered one is just a prototype. Unfortunately, the jet version of the plane was made too late to change the tide of the war.....
@riskygjk damn this is why I hate reading comments left on youtube by New Zealanders, we come across as barely literate assholes thanks mate for letting the country down again... Japanese goods r imported by NZers, bought by NZers, hows that Japans fault numbnuts? Japan was devasted in the 40s/50s and rose to become an economic superpower, NZ was top of the OECD in the 50s, now down around Mexico that tells you all you need to know about our two peoples. Sorry for my dickhead countryman every1.
I heard that this was going to be 1st jet fighter of japan , but the ship that carried the jet engine from Germany to Japan never arribed to japan , so they had to put a propeller instead of the jet engine , is that true?
It´s not, because Plane first constructed for 18cyl Engine, but configuration was very good to reconstruct with japan-made Axial- turbines, as later planned.
Like the swedish Saab J-21, first flying with V12 Daimler, later Rolls- Royce Nene turbojets.
@TeutonicWulfKnight Would've been a hell of a plane. Doubtful that it would have changed the tide in favor of Japan because of the late development. Do you have any idea what happened to the one that was captured?
@TeutonicWulfKnight If they had gotten that plane in the air by spring of '44 it would have stopped the B-29's dead in their tracks. I often wonder what happened to the one shown in pic's with the U.S. soldiers.
@stevecast65 The Maiden flight of this plane is August 1945, too late to change anything. Development starts Summer 1944, very fast to get in air, though.
Thank you for your comment. The source of the fascism of Japan was scholar of constitutional law ,Hiroto Tomizu, Shinkichi Uesugi, Sumi Hiraizumi, and Narumi Hijikata who were the professors of The University of Tokyo at that time. They made the emperor's deification thought, and this became a big factor to maximize the power of the military consequentially. And, Japan began China War and has advanced to the Pacific War.
@kasukabe1947 I'm glad you actually have knowledge and and are honest. I've recently watched an NHK documentary that agrees with you. Japan's leaders slowly marched the nation to war themselves. Some dissented, but unfortunately, the ones in the right places did not. As more lives lost, money, equipment, and men were plowed into the war in Asia, it became harder, and harder to justify ending the war. Also the military wasn't very unified in its leadership either.
With a top speed of 440MPH and armnement of 4x 30MM Cannons it could've been a deadly thorn in the Allies side, if piloted by the more experienced Japanese pilots.
Bring 'em on.....We had operational P-80's back in the states, that could have been based on your Iwo Jima.... your Me-262 copy was only a prototype... and THIS aircraft was neither.....
Our experimental Curtiss XP-55 "Ascender" was of a similar canard design.... we passed on it....
I guess an over 10 to 1 kill ratio for us navy aircraft is winning by numbers? And it took TWO bombs to END THE WAR. Yeah you're right we won by numbers...get a clue
Germany was overcome because Hitler was an idiot. Yes Germany had incredible technology I'm fascinated by that the rest of the world took after the war. And my grandfather was a mechanic in the Luftwaffe and I'm proud of that, but I am an American so I can say "WE" if I want to. And US tech may have been behind Germany in 1945 but not today. "OUR" ZR1 and CTS-V blow the doors off the very best from Porsche and BMW and our military aircraft are YEARS ahead of anything being built in Germany.
Germany has the best machine and assault guns (g36 type) the best and most silent sub in the word with fuelcell tech (type 212) the best tank (leo 2a6) and germany has stealth navy ships (cooperation with sweden) and us cant take on us...
yes inded... but america grown by taking copys and van brown to united stats. germany is still a super power, but they dont wast their time on military like america does. what america is today, and the all world... a part of these achivements goes to germany. luftwaffe 4ver

@stevecast65 Sry, no idea, but you doubt right, this plane would´ve changed anything, at this moment japanses Industry was quite dead, I guess.
But the plane is still amazing me.

Lovely plane. Stupid argument.
And correct me if I'm mistaken, but
Didn't the Wright brothers build the first rear-drive...? Just curious. IMHO, nothing new in aviation between Kittyhawk and Jets. Have a nice day.
OiAnjinSama 2 years ago
@OiAnjinSama Actually no, the Wright brothers plane was a mid drive, not tail drive. But that's OK.

Jagerfaust,
I know very well that wasn't the Japan that
started the war,and know that for them there wasn't another way to assure the survival of the nation. The Adm.Kimmel
book about the background of Pearl Harbor attack shows very well who's the
guilty.
