I have a 2nd gen ipod that I love to death. I was wondering if you could post a video on battery and lcd replacement. It would be a life saver. I've searched YouTube everywhere.
I have tried resetting it several time but I always get a screen that says "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore" but when I do that and connect it to itunes, i get another error message that says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I click on restore and nothing happens. the screen turns black and

My apple Ipod classic 80gb just stopped playing sound..... the console itself is working, I can select a song, turn the volume up, etc, but it remains silent when I put headphones in it or put it on the docking station it wont play any sound at all. Can you tell me what is wrong with it..........please help!
@TerrorNoctus Haha, i'm TRYING to open mine to replace the screen and cover (sadly it's a plastic one instead of the nice metal one). It's been a REAL pain.
hi guys. my i pod classic 80 g. works fine, until i put it in my loose fitting shorts pocket. might you know what is the cause of this? i have dropped it a few times, but it works fine otherwise. thank you .
my ipod classic has an ipod with a sad face on it i dnt kno wat is wrong with it wen i connect it to my laptop it says that the battery is low but then it shows the little ipod with the sad face idk wats wrong will it b expensive to fix it or wut is wrong with it help plz!
my ipod classic 5th gen was working fine yesterday but this morning I tried playing it and everything works except the music bar wont play (as in it will always be on 0:00 unless i fast forward) as a result there is no music coming from it. ive tried different speakers and headphones but to no avail and am pretty sure its not a a headphone problem. The top left sign says it is playing
i think its a hardware problem because i think i can hear a loose part. any help?
@acardiel1122 yes we can fix it. We repair water damage on all model iPods. We actually just received a new high end cleaning system for water damage repair. Ise our diagnostic service on the repairsharks website.
@acardiel1122 or you could have been smart and turned it off and put it in rice but instead you left it on and tried to restore it. great job you permanentally fucked it up
how do you know whats wrong with your ipod classic i'm trying to fix mine and i was thinking of buying a battery but that might not be the problem. the problem is that it wont charge i plug it into my laptop and the ipod says 'very low battery please wait..' and then it shows an ipod with a sad face and tells me to go to the apple website. it makes an awful scratchy sound too. any help would be greatly appreciated
@EmmaNiamhKiernan sounds like more than just a battery issue. Send it in for Diagnostics on the repairsharks website. We can take a look and let you know what the issue is. Thanks!
Hello. I realize this vid is old but I am trying to fix my friend's ipod. it is a classic that when it turns on it gives the red x screen. I can hear a clicking or small scratching sound inside when i attempt to turn it on. Is there anything I can do in order to pull the files off (preferably free, but if not i can deal). Thank you so much! Good to know someone knows alot about Ipods!
@SimplyCoolVids Old yes but very active still. We repair tons of these. You have a bad drive, you can smack it on your palm hardly a few times to see if it can read again, if not most likely needs to be replaced which we can do for you. Getting the data off in this condition would be pretty expensive and you would possibly need a data recovery service.
Well this poor guy seems to be almost braindead from all his ipod fixing experiences, so i think it probably best to try get a new one, or one that has been already fixed. My ipod is not working, hard drive failure i think, but i'm too young for a lobotomy, so I'm not going to pry myself into an early grave. Was considering it, but am just going to look for a reconditioned one. Normally i'm fully on for fixing something, but i'm getting a bad vibe of all of this :-(]
Hey buddy my ipod is totally F*****D I dropped it after a gym session and whenever i try to to turn it on it makes a grinding noise, when that happens it shows an image of an ipod with a sad face and says something along the lines of "go to itunes.com/support/ipod" i dont know what to do. the only thing i want from it is the music and playlists as it has some important music that was difficult for me to obtain can you help me in any way? IF so PLEASE contact me asap? Thanks.
@bsangoz Drive sounds bad my friend. You can slap it a few times to see if it recovers but you may need a new drive. To get the data off at this point you may also need a data recovery service which is rather pricey I believe.
I have those green tools that you do but they're crap, one broke when i attempting to pry a first clip. What should I do? :/ Ive tried Stanley blades, knives and most usefully so far a fondue fork, but still cant do it
@ipodrepairguys And like i tried to restore the default settings but still no good. and like when i try to scroll, i can here it like beep when i try to scroll up and down
what a great help!!!!! I have definitely ruined my share of backplates for the 6th generation and with your video i got one open in a couple minutes which is record time for me. thanks so much.
Hey i think I have an Ipod classic 1 or 2g and it will not charge I use the right charger but it still wont charge! The charger is a good charger works on Iphone,Ipod touch,Ipod Nano,Ipad, and almost all of them.Is it the charger or the ipod, the charger fits perfectly but doesnt charge it.
You guys talk about opening them as if it is surgery. When I open them, I get it open fast and a small flathead and some tacks are all I use to open it.
@dadasmithywinkle Haha, thanks for the comment that was funny. This video only applies to the 80GB Think 6th Generation Classic Model. We also do this without bending or putting scratches on the faceplate or back casing. We have since evolved our techniques and can fix some of the most demanding repairs on these iPods including all types of water damage, logic board reflows, surface mount soldering, etc.

@sillverscorpion This video is 2 years old if you didn't notice. It was literally a first attempt at opening the device. Some models of this series are much more difficult than others. The real Classic models thin 80, 120, and 160 models are rather difficult to open without damaging. We can open these without putting any damage to the original front or back casing. The video just became popular so we left it up.
I am on your website and I want to just get a battery to do it myself...i have an ipod classic 6gen 80 gb... if i buy the battery will the tools come along with it?
@munkeytron Yes it does but the tools are meant to break before damaging the iPod or components. We recommend additional tools such as a razor blade or metal type pry tool since the device is very stubborn at times. We can do the installation for you for $39.95 including return shipping. Well worth it in our opinion given all that can go wrong during this process.
@ipodrepairguys So if i buy the battery for $20, i get the tools? I would want to send it, but, i have no patience for that kind of stuff...the packaging...the sending the waiting to receive....and im in california and you are in ny so that alone is like 3 days of shipping.
@munkeytron Yes it comes with 2 tools, just email us at support at repairsharks dotcom and we will send you extra opening tools for Free with your battery, no problem.
@munkeytron We got it thank you very much. I am upgrading to you for free to Priority Shipping and including some extra tools. Thanks again! Email us at our main email for questions. Can't add it clearly here it gets blocked but you can find it on our contact page on repairsharks website.
@munkeytron Just take your time, its a patient process. You will need something like the metal nail file I recommended in the video since it is more rigid than the opening tools. I generally start on one side then pop the top tab then the other side and bottom. Thank you for your business, the battery is going in todays mail.
if your going to open your ipod order a back plate because you WILL mess it up.Took me 2 hours to open mine and no matter how carefull i was i still warped the back plate.id think twice about doing this own your own.
@TheCelticknights Thank you for the comment. We do not ruin anyones back plate. You will get your original back which matches your logic board serial number. We have perfected the opening of this device so that it will not be damaged or scratched during the repair. In extreme cases if the back plate is not useable we will replace it for you Free of charge.
my ipod says it has 0 gigs left but i have nothing on it, i click on settings and the bar is full with "other" stuff. i cant put anything on it and theres nothing to take off :l
@ISMFOFbetch Sounds like your having a Hard Drive issue. We can take a look at it for you and see if the drive can be saved, if not we have replacement options available. Visit the Repair Sharks website for details.
cannot snyc "insert song name" unknown error occurred (-69)
what should i do? this happens whenever I try to sync any large amount of music. it just stops on a random song and give me the error message. should i send it to apple?
@tobesss That's pretty funny. We get a lot of great comments here. Maybe you shouldn't be attempting something you aren't qualified for. We will use tobesss as a great example as to why you should let a professional do this repair.
they gave me a ipod classic but its not playing the songs i push play but no volume i checked the menu and the volume is all the way up whts do u think the problem could be
@inzendio Could be a drive issue, could also be a audio problem. Try playing it through a dock player like an iHome and see if it works through there. If it does you might be having a headphone jack issue.
can you help me , when i want to put videos on my ipod classic 6g it doesnt work , itunes library contains the videos and i have converted them with many converting porgrams but it says my ipod cant play the videos i want to sync ..... plz help me

Hi guys...I have an 80gb classic that is having issues. iTunes won't recognize it. My computer will recognize it, but when I try to reformat it through Windows XP, it hourglasses then times out. I've tried 2 cables and 4 USB ports with the same results. I even uninstalled/installed iTunes with no luck. I'm beginning to think it's the unit itself.

Yesterday morning i was watching a movie on the ipod then turned it off and put it on hold. after that i i went out and it was off for the whole night. this morning i tried to turn it on and nothing happened. i tried to plug it in and everything with no result. what happend to it? i'm on the verge of prying it open.
my whole music collection is in there. and i didnt put it on through itunes. :/
@sammysaba Oh.. In my case, I unplugged the iPod while it was syncronizing and it hasn't worked properly since then. Would've that burned the hard drive as well?
I got an ipod classic 2gen 30gb and it suddently stop charging an now it wont charge with anything i think its a battery problem please help if you know something
i have a 160gb ipod classic 6th gen. and it got water damaged. i tried to get the songs out but my computer wont recognize the ipod whenever i plug it in...nothing happens if i plug it in or anything. is there anyway i can get the songs out?
A few months back my brother stepped on his ipod classic. He ordered a new screen and replaced it, but now it is stuck on the sad face screen, if I plug it into my computer the computer doesn't register it. The ipod will say "Please Wait Very Low Battery" which I highly doubt. I've tried restoring it without avail. Anyhow, it sounds like a hard drive issue to me and my brother just got an i touch and said that if I can fix his classic then I can have it. Any ideas?
@sammysaba I've got exactly that problem. Perhaps something inside went out of place, something involving te hard drive. Now I'm trying to find out how to open it and see what's wrong..
@nagmeyazgin I am curious to know how you actually use the dental floss. We have evolved our techniques with opening the Classic drastically from this video. We can now open the case rather straightforward without any damage to the faceplate or case for that matter.
my ipod video has been going strong (well, apart from the fact that it likes to re-set itself once or twice a week at random times) for 4 1/2 years and i havent noticed a decrease in battery life like people were saying at the time (its always been rubbish but it hasnt got worse...) and then yesterday the center button stopped working... was going to buy an ipod touch but i have become so attached to my video ipod i thought it would try to re-vive it! lol
Hey, I washed my ipod a few years ago and it wouldnt work so i left it in the drawer for a few years and hooked it up, and it shows the apple logo with a "Clicking sound" and a few minutes later it shows up "apple.com/ipod/support" with a large red X and i dont know how to fix it, i reallly dont want to let apple do it and pay a shit load to fix it, Ide rather do it myself because the warranty is like 2 years over. any suggestions?
@mitenoo7 dang, Mine is like 2 or 3 years old, i bought it, it got washed back when the ice storm happened in ky. it wouldnt work so i left it in my kitchen drawer for years and i just now foudn it :(
i have a problem with my 30 gb ipod...everything works fine except the sound....i can't hear the music unless i apply pressure near the bottom right hand corner...any idea what this could be?? thank you
Excuse me, i have a problem, i hope you could help me
My ipod classic 80Gb started being slow in my class and tried resetting it, but noticed that it lasted more than 10 second, and well today, i tried to restore it to original factory setting, but it says error every time, and when i try to use it without connection it just freezes in the apple logo.
I got an ipod 5th gen, 160 gb 2 years ago and i spilt water over the wheel at Christmas 2009. At the beginning everything was normal and now I can't turn it on. Please help!!! Thanks!
hey okk i have a problem i dropped my ipod nd the back flew off i snapped it back on and evrything was working BUT the hold button and i cant hear anything any solutions?
Uh repair guys i need help when i was laughin at skool i forgot my ipod was in my pocket so i laughed so hard i fell and leaned on the screen and some liquid from the screen ruined the screen so now it is super hard to see the screen everything else is fine except the screen. Please talk back.
I got my 160 ipod classic for almost a 2 years now, but no my ipod it kept freezing whenever I play it, specially the video. I had to reset everytime my ipod freeze, and its very annoying. Somebody told me that once you reach over 80gb its freeze a lot, is this true? Also I had Pioneer Avic GPS which I'm able to control my ipod there, I'm able to browse the menu, playlist all that, but once it plays the video it freezes within 3minutes or so. Do you know what is the problem with ipod? Help me!!!
@MegaWaxz Sounds like you are having a drive issue. I would try reformatting the iPod first. Best if you do a complete FAT32 format of the drive in Disk mode then try to restore it through iTunes and re-synch your music. If that doesn't help then you may need to replace the drive. Contact us for a quote or you can also send it in for free diagnostics.
@MegaWaxz Thanks for the reply, but how I'm going to format it using fat32? Do I need to click my computer and right click the iPod & click format? Or can I just use the iTunes recovery system and that will erase the whole thing? If you can tell me in detail that would be great, & if doesn't work still I will definately ship it to your shop.
@MegaWaxz i have a 120gb and it hardly ever freezes. i've had it for almost a year now. it might have something to do with the quantity of GBs that are being used
@peter5448 isn't that is the reason why you have that kind of storage space, for us to use it. Well I check my Ipod I only have 86gb just little more than half of 160g. So don't tell me if I pass more than 80gb I swill start to have a problem? If that is they shouldn't sell that kind of storage if yo can't even use them.
Maybe you can help of how I can resolve this, w/o me paying a whole lot of money. Thanks though for the response.
hey, i forgot to turn off my ipod in the car, and the next day the battery was completely discharged (of course), and now i can't turn it on. It wont recharged, start up, or anything, I even checked out apple's technical support to try and fix it, but nothing.
@Blessinghand Plug it into an Apple OEM wall adapter and Dock Cable. If that doesn't work you can send it in for diagnostics and we can have a look at it for you, no problem. Visit our website at RepairSharks

@ipodrepairguys hello my ipod classic when i insert my headphones only one ear works. and i have tried my headphones on otger devices and both ears work , when i looked inside my headphone jack i found out that one of the two metal connectors is pushed in how could i fix this thx :)
@FinalDestiny1000 You can send it in to us, we will install a new headphone jack for you for $41.95 including insured return shipping. Turnaround in 24-48hours tops. Problem solved. Visit our site, call or email us.
@panzuman It works on the first pin but not the rest usually. It's also not a permanent fix but it does work in a pinch, best just replacing the jack with a new one as it is cheap enough.
hey my ipod fully works...it charges and everything....but itunes will ask to restore it every single time, EVERY SINGLE TIME. But when I go to the settings and then about, it says that it has no available space....and it supposed to have 160.....what is wrong with it? it was working perfectly not too long ago
Hey, I could really use your help ipodrepairguys. My ipod will not stay charged no matter what. Even if it's turned off the battery will still drain. I've fully charged it, turned it off, and the battery was dead the next day. I'm not so sure a new battery will help because this started happening right after leaving the ipod out in the rain overnight. If you've encountered this problem before please let me know what's wrong. Thank you in advance.
Yes actually, that is a great guess. It was a big Saltwater tank, we miss her. Had to take her down when we moved locations. She was running for about 7 years.
This was an early video. If you read through the comments we explain this. It actually does take a while to open a 80gb Classic, much longer than this video takes if you do it correctly.
I've got a 80GB ipod video and theres no sound at all. The clicker works but that is it. I tried reseting the whole thing but that didn't work. what do I do?
your best bet is simply that you bent the metal prongs inside your head phone jack if you get a light and a little screw driver you should be able to just bend those metal prongs back into place its not ussually a software issude
Unfortunately this doesn't fix the problem always. It is very hard to reach the internal contacts and these headphone jacks are completely sealed internally. Lack of audio can also be a logic board issue as well and we see this quite often.
yah it is pretty annoying, because i have seen it a lot also, and that is true but i like what your doing though using youtube to promote your business.
I have a 2nd gen ipod that I love to death. I was wondering if you could post a video on battery and lcd replacement. It would be a life saver. I've searched YouTube everywhere.

You have a bad drive, you can smack it on your palm hardly a few times to see if it can read again, if not most likely needs to be replaced which we can do for you. Getting the data off in this condition would be pretty expensive and you would possibly need a data recovery service.
ipodrepairguys 6 months ago

Thanks.
bsangoz 7 months ago
@bsangoz Drive sounds bad my friend. You can slap it a few times to see if it recovers but you may need a new drive. To get the data off at this point you may also need a data recovery service which is rather pricey I believe.

I have those green tools that you do but they're crap, one broke when i attempting to pry a first clip. What should I do? :/ Ive tried Stanley blades, knives and most usefully so far a fondue fork, but still cant do it

ipodrepairguys 10 months ago
@sillverscorpion This video is 2 years old if you didn't notice. It was literally a first attempt at opening the device. Some models of this series are much more difficult than others. The real Classic models thin 80, 120, and 160 models are rather difficult to open without damaging. We can open these without putting any damage to the original front or back casing. The video just became popular so we left it up.
ipodrepairguys 11 months ago
I am on your website and I want to just get a battery to do it myself...i have an ipod classic 6gen 80 gb... if i buy the battery will the tools come along with it?
munkeytron 11 months ago
@munkeytron Yes it does but the tools are meant to break before damaging the iPod or components. We recommend additional tools such as a razor blade or metal type pry tool since the device is very stubborn at times. We can do the installation for you for $39.95 including return shipping. Well worth it in our opinion given all that can go wrong during this process.
ipodrepairguys 11 months ago
@ipodrepairguys So if i buy the battery for $20, i get the tools? I would want to send it, but, i have no patience for that kind of stuff...the packaging...the sending the waiting to receive....and im in california and you are in ny so that alone is like 3 days of shipping.
munkeytron 11 months ago
@munkeytron Yes it comes with 2 tools, just email us at support at repairsharks dotcom and we will send you extra opening tools for Free with your battery, no problem.
ipodrepairguys 11 months ago
@ipodrepairguys new question, i just ordered the battery, and chose standard shipping...how long would it be to get it?
munkeytron 11 months ago
@munkeytron We got it thank you very much. I am upgrading to you for free to Priority Shipping and including some extra tools. Thanks again! Email us at our main email for questions. Can't add it clearly here it gets blocked but you can find it on our contact page on repairsharks website.
ipodrepairguys 11 months ago
@ipodrepairguys Well thank you very much, that is generous of you :] Wish me luck!
munkeytron 11 months ago
@munkeytron Just take your time, its a patient process. You will need something like the metal nail file I recommended in the video since it is more rigid than the opening tools. I generally start on one side then pop the top tab then the other side and bottom. Thank you for your business, the battery is going in todays mail.

MegaWaxz 1 year ago
@MegaWaxz Sounds like you are having a drive issue. I would try reformatting the iPod first. Best if you do a complete FAT32 format of the drive in Disk mode then try to restore it through iTunes and re-synch your music. If that doesn't help then you may need to replace the drive. Contact us for a quote or you can also send it in for free diagnostics.

rogerdot2010 1 year ago
@MegaWaxz Thanks for the reply, but how I'm going to format it using fat32? Do I need to click my computer and right click the iPod & click format? Or can I just use the iTunes recovery system and that will erase the whole thing? If you can tell me in detail that would be great, & if doesn't work still I will definately ship it to your shop.
MegaWaxz 1 year ago
@MegaWaxz i have a 120gb and it hardly ever freezes. i've had it for almost a year now. it might have something to do with the quantity of GBs that are being used
peter5448 1 year ago

She was running for about 7 years.

you take forever to explain how to open -_-

This was an early video. If you read through the comments we explain this. It actually does take a while to open a 80gb Classic, much longer than this video takes if you do it correctly.

It's ok to open it while its on right? Someone help

Shouldn't be too much of an issue. You can turn it off and set the hold switch if you like that will keep it off.
