ive got a good story bout one of these..........it was called lex and an ex guid dog and his owner got ran over by a buss and we always say i hope he didnt do that!
Primarily it is the coat, short for the Malinois and long for the Tervuren. As the Malinois has been used extensively for police work their breeding has perhaps changed their character more away from the totally loving dog. They are territorial, but ours are quite happy to be left alone without any problems at all. Once you have had a Belgian I doubt if you would ever choose another breed.
I have to agree! I'm a BIG fan of mutts but when comes to choosing a particular breed, for me it's a Belgian Hands Down!!! once you have one in your life you just can't go back!
they are, i have a female, and she is very vocal and territorial. they are very clingy dogs though, and a lot of them get severe separation anxiety and destroy things if no one is home
i have one to she deffinitly lets you know if someone is to close to the house..she trys to herd traffic as it drives by lol..but she barks more at us when we leave than anything else. I love my dog so much shes almost 13 now and i have had her since i was just a kid and she still acts like she did when she was 1 great great dog
Beautiful dogs - doesn't matter what their coats look like or the colour! Belgians have the most wonderful personality - fun plus! As for your husband 'gingergargoyle' I suggest you move or get a new husband!
Giotto the older dog (2 years) is a Grey Tervuren not a Red Tervuren and is very light and was out of coat when this was taken. Mars the younger dog is just a puppy.
Okay that's explains it...a coat that's blown never looks quite right no matter the base color...I know Fritz's coat got better as he got older-we didn't get him until he was over 2yrs so it could be that I just haven't seen enough coats of younger dogs. They are a lovely breed, I wish I could talk hubby into getting one but we live too close to a highway and we're afraid they would chase cars-Fritz jumped on a city bus once that he was chasing.

Some people say that Tervueren is more easy-going than Malinois... I don't know if it really is, but...

Coats don't look healthy-we had a terv. Are they really young, perhaps? They have female coloring and shorter coats then our Fritz did.
