  • "I play to win. But I lose."

(By the way, Mouth, YOU were the one who needed luck after the flop. Raymer's the one who was favored with that flop.)

  • that's what you get for being friends with hellmouth....all that negativity comes back to bite you in your ass...anyway, raymer was destined to win it that year. he almost repeated the task the following year! pretty amazing, since it was the start of the great poker boom.

  • I <3 Mike

  • I love when a douche hopes for something to happen and the opposite happens

  • yeah lol how the fuck is it 11 diamonds ya duche..there are only 13 in the deck, while there are 2 in his hand and 2 on the flop...

  • i would have said " i got big bahonniiii, u got little bahoniiiii"

  • Matusow is pathetic

  • I would have told Matusow: WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW? HE LET U DOWN COZ U MEAN NOTHING TO HIM

  • mike made a good call

  • How did he get "unlucky" raymer was ahead post flop LOL. He had so many outs count the outs he had. 3 jacks 3 aces 11 diamonds. a total of 17 outs? If he wins that more then half the time he made the correct move to shove. Good move this win prolly won him the tourney.

  • @ReRaiseCiti, only 9 diamonds as outs, but the rest is correct.

  • LOLOL Matusow is a fuckin bitch

  • 3b to 36k, shove 230k on the flop, nh

  • The only thing Mike does right is his opening raise. After that he just transforms into a superdonk calling station. This is a top pro? Bring it!

  • AAA JJJ 9 hearts and running straight outs... that makes GR the favourite when the chips go in. Strange call.

  • @Shiplodicus I think you mean 9 diamonds.

  • @moonomatic probably.

  • Earth to Mike Matasow - You were BEHIND on the flop - BAD CALL!

  • props to mike you gotta have faith in your reads cause without them you have nothing.

  • Big call Mike. You're right with what is all ready in the middle. But ballsy.

  • "thanks for busting me mike" hoahaohaohaoao

  • karma

  • by the time you count the chips in play, I'd say this was really close to a 50 50 flip, in which case both Raymer and Matusow made the right play and that's what poker's all about.

  • @CribNotes Not really, you have to take into account you are in a tournie. Now that may mean calling is still the right deicision but if you do know what is going on then why not get most of your chips in 4 to 1 ahead rather than on a coin toss?

  • @Shiplodicus You're right about tourney play, but deep in a tournament, you need to take a few flips to make the final table. Matusow's record shows he knows how to play a tourney. This hand is one of those moments where he feels he needs to stick his neck out and not play it safe if he wants to final table strong.

  • @CribNotes I do tend to agree.

  • Greg Raymer is a fat ass

  • Visit FullTiltPoker. All Players welcome (USA included!)

You're welcome, you just can't play. But you're welcome.

  • what a goof ball i cant stand mike

  • wow what a douche..

  • Hmm. 9 7 of spades 10 9 3 2 diamonds, 241 thousand to win 80 thousand. I've only got 36k invested why dont i throw 241 thousand into 80 thousand like a stupid moron donkey that I am and yell out "don't let me get unlucky one time". If you have a moron throwing in 241 thousand chips into 80k you should just wait for a better hand than a pair of 9s with a shit kicker. You don't need to call the 241 thousand chips if you only have 36 invested with only 1 pair.

  • no mike is a fish for raising with garbage

  • In my opinion you deserve getting sucked out for yelling "one time".

  • héhè_ì_sígnéd_ùp_ät_fúll_tîlt_poker

    _usîng_refêrràl_code:_You600_äñd_got_ã_600_ÐØllar_bõñûs

  • the joke is that raymer was actually the slight favorite to the coin flip...but matusow says "dont let me get unlucky"...actually, he should have said "let me get lucky"

  • @What7else lol raymer was drawing so technically mike was ahead so him saying dont let me get unlucky wasnt wrong u douche

  • @muckemsayuhhh18 what are you retarded? look at the percentages you dumb shit

  • @What7else oh my god u waste of human tissue just because it says raymer is favorite doesnt mean he is ahead it means he has more outs. Mike had the best hand and only way raymer could win was to HIT his card u act like Mike was the one drawing get a clue before u act like u know what yer talking about

  • @muckemsayuhhh18 never play poker again. you will be wasting your time and money. unless you want to play me of course lololol. i will enjoy spending the money i win from you on panties for your mom lololol

  • @What7else grow up and get a clue

  • Oops. Guess that means god doesn't give a shit about poker tournaments. Or Mike.

    Or exist.

  • raymer said "YES" like he was a greek god! LMAO

  • Matusows a fucking retard, him and hellmuth are a pair of fuckin clowns

  • mike matasow looks like that guy from diners drive ins and dives on foodnetwork

  • Comment removed

  • They both played the hand well. I realize it can be frustrating when someone's continuously raising you out of your hands pre-flop, but Mike acts like an amateur when he keeps ripping on him the whole time they were at the table. Even though experienced players make that mistake from time to time.

Raymer's World series win was one of the few respectable wins in the Main Event in the last decade.

I can't stand his yell after winning, thanks to the WSOP repeating it over & over.

  • @virtuesss1 yeah, i see that kind of stuff everyday, im a croupier and EVERY night i see a good player make dumb decisions bcuz he is tired or angry or just dont like other players.

  • craig raymor sat on my face in a dream, i came so hard, it was my first wet dream :)

  • Mike called off his chips because of his ego. He let his emotions get in the way of clear thinking here. There's almost no reason to call a reraise with a 7 9 of spades, and then call with a middle pair after the person moves in on the flop. I think Matusow would have laid it down against anyone else, but he felt that he needed to show Raymer that he couldn't be pushed around.

  • i wish mike would of won that hand raymer was shitting his pants lol

  • OH COME ON MIKEY!!!! Pick a better spot to put your chips in. Great read though, but I'm sure Matusow would have gone deeper in this tourney if he laid this hand down, and picked better spots

  • "You know why I called him before the flop? Because I knew what he had before the flop."

LMAO at Matusow trying to defend his amateur quality of play. He's nothing special, just your average degenerate. Good for tv though.

    1. If you knew Greg had a suited A-J to your mediocre suited 9-7 why did you call it?

  • @bobbydavecci "He's nothing special, just your average degenerate. Good for tv though"

    Total tournament winnings; $7,422,170

    WSOP bracelets; 3

    All Time Money List; 25th

Deep runs in the main event; 3

    WSOP Tournament of Champions 2005

    WPT final tables; 4

This man can play, and if you don't know it you're an idiot.

  • @censortube09

    great player, little man..

  • i hate raimer

hes a big fat baloni dick

  • I like Mike, he can be a very good player at times. But he always loses it all with stupid calls like this.

  • @4DCrunch it wasn't a bad call, he knew he had the best hand when he called. raymer just hit his draw which sucked

  • Mike is a retard

  • Raymer has the lamest was of celebrating wins

  • asking for gods help in gambling ?? hahahaha nice one mike

  • @asifineededaname hahaha good point

  • Its just always nice to see Mutusow lose his chips!

  • Matusow has balls...but his play here was pure ego. He knew better than to make that call..but he let his ego get the best of him.

  • Greg Raymer is the man

  • He may know what's going on too bad he doesn't know what cards are coming.

  • @aspectra he had the winning hand when the money went in....period

  • No he doesn't. He is ahead when the chips go in although Raymer is the statistical favourite.

  • @Harlingtonjnr3

Exactly. He raised 12K and got re-raised 36K. Flop comes and Raymer moves all-in and he was hellbent on defending his 9s? What was he thinking? You see this play in online tables A LOT. Donkeys defending their middle pairs like they got the nuts or something.

  • Raymer was a favourite to win the hand and double up, what more can you ask for?

  • imagine mike winning that hand, no one would've known greg raymer :P pretty funny to put it in perspective imo

  • I would have gone with my gut like Mike if I only didn't suspect he had those diamonds.

  • a fucken donk all in... i hope he has a heart attack for eating too much grease that idiot fuck!

  • HAHAHA

  • he's not a donk for going all in on the flop, he did it to scare Matusow out. It was a donk move for Matusow to call with a shitty pair and small kicker when Raymor raised him pre-flop. Raymor was just continuing his position and status. A donk is someone who calls with nothing and wins not going all in in first position.

  • ohh shit we got a pro here!! just means ur a donk too!!

  • never said i was a pro, i just know more than you

  • @darkenlight111 It'd be a donk for him to fold on the flop (he's not folding), It's a donk move to push 240k to win 72k-75k. You would learn the same information if he bet 60k. But he is not folding on the flop. "Even if a nuclear bomb is dropped"

  • Raymor wanted a fold, not a call...so by pushing he wasn't "looking for information" as much as just trying to scare him away. you can tell he was cause he corrects Matusow about how much he has left in chips. I mean who calls an all-in with 9-7 when a person raises you pre-flop and goes all in on the flop, but im totally not trying to argue just speculating.

  • Not only was Greg ahead, he had a good deal of fold equity by pushing. Mike made a bad call...

  • A-high is still nothing pre-flop; no matter if it's AK, AQ or AJ

  • Ace and Jack were overs. 2 chances to hit those or a diamond. That's why >50% for Raymer.

Flopped 2 overs and a flush draw = shove almost every time (unless flop is paired or 3 straight cards).

  • Incorrect, simple math dictates otherwise. Raymer had two overs as well as the nut flush draw and with two cards to come...

  • @adam27adam27 Incorrect eh? what did he go all-in with? There are always better spots to put your money in.

  • its something when the other guy only has 9 high...

  • I guess Mike will always have more balls than chips ......lol

  • this is a joke

I can't take people who talk about themselves in the 3rd person, it's the definition of cockyness.

" Don't let him get lucky " what the fuck.. Raymer has the best hand

  • i wouldnt call in that situation

  • This guy Matusow apparently uses the wrong part of his body for thinking. LOL!!

  • matusow was an idiot, he thought he could bust someone with a pair of 9s-shit kicker, lololololol

  • Yeah of course he did...he was ahead! Not favourite, but he was in the lead...

Great opportunity to win an awful lot of chips and get rid of your biggest competition!

  • The hand most likely to win by the river is the better hand.

This is of course assuming that the definition of the "better hand" is the one that is most likely to win by the river.

If you have a different defintion of "best hand", then your definition is not logical.

Which hand would you prefer to have at the flop, Raymer's or Mikes? Obviously you would prefer Raymer's. This is further proof that Raymer's hand is the better hand.

  • Just talk properly and don't be such a knob!!

  • matusow is a much much much better player then raymer..Hes ridiculously good at cashgames..

  • raymer is multi-millionaire. matusow is always broke. he gets backers, which is the only reason he's allowed to play and has an endorsment deal. he was behind before the flop and after. he lost like he should have.

  • ... are you kidding? You just summed it up yourself. He was behind before the flop, and after. But the thing is, ALL the money went in ON the flop while he was ahead. I notice you skipped that part...

  • what? he was never ahead at all. he lost and im glad. he has emotional problems too. did you see how he acted? the man has issues. lol

  • He was ahead. When he had pair 9, and called raymers all in, he was ahead. Raymer had percentages to win the hand, but his hand was ahead. You dont go by percentages with that, you go by who has the best hand then and there. He got all the money in with the best hand, and if you deny that, it's obvious you're just ignorant and refusing to listen to reason here and you're whole argument is based on the fact you dont like mike.... owned

  • On the flop it was a coinflip. However, Raymer had the upper hand not because of percentages, but because he moved all in. Raymer played his hand better and got Mike to call all in with a 97 mid pair of 9s.

  • ...you're so very wrong... 10J of hearts with 9h Qh As is a favorite/ahead over pocket fours. even though fours is the made hand. It's just that most of the time, the made hand has the better percentage...not this time though...learn poker?

  • Totally agree...Mike wasn't favourite, but he was ahead! He knew Rayme had either AK, AQ or AJ...pre flop, great read...

  • What if i have 2h2d and the flop comes Jc 10c 10s and i decide to go with my read cause i KNOW i have the best hand so i call an all in for 75% of my stack, and the guy shows Kc Qc... who has the best hand? RETARD

  • @funkacybin Even though Matusow had a made hand Raymer had a slightly better chance of winning on the turn or river, since he had a slightly better chance of winning it may be considered the better hand even though it's not a made hand yet.

  • @funkacybin Sure he was ahead on the flop, but the percentages were in Raymer's favor. Think about this hypothetical: you have the best hand on the flop, but your opponent's hand has a 99% chance of winning by the river. You still wanna go all in? Obviously not. Just because he has the best hand on the flop doesn't mean it's right to call.

  • he was actually behind on the flop too fool.

  • hahahaha... thats fuckin mean but ridiculously funny

  • The reason why this call could be called questionable is because of the pot odds. Calling a bet of 230K into a 75K pot doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense to me. He's not even getting 2 to 1, regardless of how strong his read might be. That's a hell of a way to gamble for most of your chips.

  • I'm going to give you a pass here because it's pretty obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about. If you call 3X pot-sized bets with middle pair, however, I'm sure that you are broke, giving you all the time you need to shit-talk two month-old comments left by strangers.

  • You couldn't give me a pass if you owned a bookfull. Enjoy counting your pennies.

  • Okay kid. Have a nice life making useless claims and trying to insult strangers. You are sure to go far and be a worthwhile and excellent person.

  • Thanks!

  • The move by raymer makes sense. only hands Raymer is worried of is 9/9 or 10/10 or 10/9 the other hands he's flipping against, and could be a slight favorite like this case.

  • matusow has the spirit, but that call was more about his emotions, and was rather shitty

  • crap call from matusow - the best he was ever going to be was 46%

  • matusow is the biggest dipshit i ever saw

  • Aggressive players make aggressive moves and most of the time it works.

  • its a risky play, but its how u win tournaments. and if i recall correctly... wait did mike win 2004 or 2005?

  • bad call..v.bad..at minimum raymer had overs and he was still only racin...he put most of his chips in on a min race...v bad call

  • If Raymer had just overcards on the flop, Matusow is a 3-1 favorite; overcards with a flush draw, Raymer's a small favorite. I don't know what to think of Matusow's call. Things had gotten personal between them, so I suppose the likelihood Raymer was pushing with something like just two overcards was somewhat higher, I guess.

  • small favorite with about 20 outs vs 5 outs... u must be kidding...

  • Raymer had 15 outs, not 20. He was a small favorite, 54%-46%; look at the percentages on the screen. I was looking at the hand from Matusow's POV.
