nothing, and I mean nothing can beat ff7/8/9/10! They are to date the best FF games anyone can play and I recommend it! The story lines were so pure and amazing, you could sit for hours and hours and not get bored, even the battle systems, so simple but brilliant. Many people already know this, but for the others that don't, know this; this final fantasy XII had a very, very amazing voice acting in japanese and in english! And of course, all of the music in this game; opening theme, ending theme, dungeon theme, etc. that you can to hear while playing this, is the best music ever created for FF series!
I've played FFX and personally I don't like it at all. I get bored as soon as I'm in the water. I have it now but I really don't like it. I have FFXII But it is to scratched up to play...:( I loved FFXII, my favorite game of all time :((((
@CallofDutyBlkOpsXD. FFX is one of the best masterpieces on the history of mankind. You´re just in the beginning. It can get difficult by the end though, as you do must take your time to level up the characters once you reach the Calm Lands (over 50 hours into gameplay).
@VictorHugoBrazil FFX is alright.. I thought the music was great and the characters were cool but it wasn't enough to keep me playing, I got pretty far in but it just didn't do it for me. In my opinion I would have to say I prefer FFXII a lot more and it's my fav cause it's fun to figure out how to use certain items/accessories and spells to your advantage to kill an enemy, and the characters were a lot better!! ( balthier pwnnss :D)
@teo1000t It is simple. No switching modes or anything because you can hit the monsters you see without switching to a battle mode and there's no taking turns. Also, you can set up "gambits" for the party members so you don't have to worry about controlling each one of them. The video shows how it works @ 2:30
Characters can learn both Summons and Quickenings and use them from the Mist menu. Quickenings are special attacks that are unlocked straight off the license board while Summons are optional bosses you can get if you beat them, some are automatically earned though.
Some might disagree but after playing most of the FFs I truly think this is the best one, the story might not be the best, but the characters and voice acting really drew me in and not to mention the awesome battle system which was very unique. I also like that the replay value is much larger than any other FF, you could literally farm any item or make new kinds of specialized characters.

one of my favorite ffs so far i loved the locations in this game so stunning...peaple seem to keep saying ff is going downhill but the only slight fall imo is ff13 and even tht wasn't THAT bad. This can't be considered bad atall in my opinion its a big change but it's still brilliant.

Ok, no, I didn't watch any of the video before I made my previous comment. It does look pretty cool, but I still don't know. It looks complicated. + I have OCD so I prefer non-RPG games, because making choices on who to upgrade and how is annoying to me, because my version of OCD makes me want absolute perfection on all aspects of...everything. I ask because, I saw some of the other ones and they were all Turn-Based combat, which I think is really boring and stupid. Turn-Based combat just isn't fun to me, and I thought this would be Turn-Based. I already got the game (as a present) but I'm debating on selling it still packaged (cuz its worth more) or playing it. I love this game, I love all Final Fantasy games... however, I let my friend barrow this.. and he said he can't find it.. how gay, said someone stole it! Eh, this game was just more than cool. The battle system is awesome but the story... well I have to say it wasn't so well done. I think the stories made for the ps1 games were better... but I still like it. And there's a lot of things to do in the game with the optional missions, lots of skills, the mist abilities, the license board and the summoning spirits. That's enough to keep us busy for a long time.

one thing I hate about one part in the game is how theres a some ninja blade thing that you can only get from a rare drop of an enemy and I didn't get it then saved and you can only fight the enemy once it was a good weapon too

Well, here I speak why the fuckers you liked all the other final fantasy's and didn't like this game was that it was different 7 and this are alot alike but my two favorite Final Fantasy's still have to be this and Final Fantasy 10 Final fantasy 12 was my first Final Fantasy game I ever played I was hooked right when I started playing just because its different from other Final Fantasy's doesn't make it bad this was a great mix to the Final Fantasy Series, I played this game for over 300 hours
@Deffpoised FF got really lame after 9, MMO's sure are part of RPG's but they should have kept real time battles to Kingdom Hearts were we expect those kind of battles, turnbased is what true Final Fantasy is all about and always should have been, hopefully FF14 wone be a complete slop and live up too the success FF11 was as an MMO

I played all the FFs from 1 to 13, and I do think this is the best FF so far. If you can't deal with the fact that there are some people who played every one and love this kind of battle more than turn based you should simply shut the fuck up, and stop posting about "real FF fan" crap from your mother's basement.
I like Hashmal and all cuz all his attacks are pretty powerful and all but his finisher was really hard to activate cuz your character has to have less than a certain amount of HP left when Hashmal is at his last 10 seconds.
i was so happy when i could just "WALK" past my enemies instead of having the screen break, one of the best Final Fantasy games. It had a perfect battle system, i could basically just walk up to an enemy and kill it without pressing any buttons, awesome story (not some lame love story like all the others but of political struggles, ffx and ffx-2 were ok with love stories), literally so much to do, i mean i have 300+ hours played. this game will stay with me my entire life

@JBhag21 they all are different story's you didn't have to play the game before this one to understand the story , but FFX (10) has a sequel FFX-2 (11) and so far is the only FF game that has a direct follow-up

kinda like both, you basically have an attack bar near you life stats bar ,and once the attack bar fills up your character attacks. each character has a seperate attack bar so they each attack indvidually when their respective cast bar fills up regardless of whose turn it is. so it is not a classic rpg but its not completely like kingdom hearts.
Considering it came out on the PS2, it's pretty obviouse that it's not going to be as good but it's still better than some next gen games. For example Dragon Age Origins looks horrible on console, FF12 is better.
Granted the console versions of Dragon Age don't look as good as the PC version but saying they look "horrible" is an over exaggeration. Besides graphics don't make a game. I'd rather play a game with mediocre graphics but good gameplay and story over a game that has amazing visuals but plays like crap and has a boring story and charaters you dont care about. I personally didn't think FF12 was that good. The storytelling and characters in Dragon Age were much better.
It depends. Unless you have a PS3 around 2006-2007ish, then you can play PS2 games onto the Playstation 3.
However the newer models, like the Slim, don't have backward compatibility which makes the system impervious to playing PS2 games. If you update the new PS3 for a bit, then eventually it'll have the capability of playing PS2 games.

@shivendramohannn Um I absolutely loved the game FFX. I loved the combat, it managed to be tactical, rewarding and fun. In my opinion FFX-2 was the beginning of the end for my beloved Square. One day they may realise their horrible mistakes of not listening to consumer feedback. Still waiting on KH3, a turn based RPG by them and hell I'd even settle for a FF7 remake if they find making a compelling story and gameplay system difficult. From what I've seen of this FFXII it does not appeal to me.
You're missin' a great game. As I just said, the story's entirely negligible, but if you're talking about "tactical, rewarding, and fun", I think it's better than FFX.
I'll try this game when FF2000 comes out. For now I'll stick to diablo 3

what I dont like is that every character shares the same eyes, they are dead looking eyes. THey arent white, more like the same color of their skin.

Well, here I speak why the fuckers you liked all the other final fantasy's and didn't like this game was that it was different 7 and this are alot alike but my two favorite Final Fantasy's still have to be this and Final Fantasy 10 Final fantasy 12 was my first Final Fantasy game I ever played I was hooked right when I started playing just because its different from other Final Fantasy's doesn't make it bad this was a great mix to the Final Fantasy Series, I played this game for over 300 hours

@Deffpoised FF got really lame after 9, MMO's sure are part of RPG's but they should have kept real time battles to Kingdom Hearts were we expect those kind of battles, turnbased is what true Final Fantasy is all about and always should have been, hopefully FF14 wone be a complete slop and live up too the success FF11 was as an MMO

I played all the FFs from 1 to 13, and I do think this is the best FF so far. If you can't deal with the fact that there are some people who played every one and love this kind of battle more than turn based you should simply shut the fuck up, and stop posting about "real FF fan" crap from your mother's basement.

I will say this about this game....the gameplay was solid and reminded me of earthbound, since the wandering enemies you could avoid battles at times

I like Hashmal and all cuz all his attacks are pretty powerful and all but his finisher was really hard to activate cuz your character has to have less than a certain amount of HP left when Hashmal is at his last 10 seconds.

i was so happy when i could just "WALK" past my enemies instead of having the screen break, one of the best Final Fantasy games. It had a perfect battle system, i could basically just walk up to an enemy and kill it without pressing any buttons, awesome story (not some lame love story like all the others but of political struggles, ffx and ffx-2 were ok with love stories), literally so much to do, i mean i have 300+ hours played. this game will stay with me my entire life

@JBhag21 they all are different story's you didn't have to play the game before this one to understand the story , but FFX (10) has a sequel FFX-2 (11) and so far is the only FF game that has a direct follow-up

@meganeves No, you can swap out to have 3 guys :) but it can get pretty rough so you kind of have to use ''chicks'' if you want to get through well.

kinda like both, you basically have an attack bar near you life stats bar ,and once the attack bar fills up your character attacks. each character has a seperate attack bar so they each attack indvidually when their respective cast bar fills up regardless of whose turn it is. so it is not a classic rpg but its not completely like kingdom hearts.

Considering it came out on the PS2, it's pretty obviouse that it's not going to be as good but it's still better than some next gen games. For example Dragon Age Origins looks horrible on console, FF12 is better.

Granted the console versions of Dragon Age don't look as good as the PC version but saying they look "horrible" is an over exaggeration. Besides graphics don't make a game. I'd rather play a game with mediocre graphics but good gameplay and story over a game that has amazing visuals but plays like crap and has a boring story and charaters you dont care about. I personally didn't think FF12 was that good. The storytelling and characters in Dragon Age were much better.

It depends. Unless you have a PS3 around 2006-2007ish, then you can play PS2 games onto the Playstation 3.
However the newer models, like the Slim, don't have backward compatibility which makes the system impervious to playing PS2 games. If you update the new PS3 for a bit, then eventually it'll have the capability of playing PS2 games.

Yes. Well to begin you obviously need to make your own PSN. From there, you get updatesof demos, news, DLCs, etc etc.
I forgot when your PS3 automatically install backward compatibility, honestly, but I believe its one of those updates that come first.

You can play on the 80gb model. I have 80gb model and can play regular ps1 and ps2 games. That's the way to go if you're getting a ps3.

@shivendramohannn Um I absolutely loved the game FFX. I loved the combat, it managed to be tactical, rewarding and fun. In my opinion FFX-2 was the beginning of the end for my beloved Square. One day they may realise their horrible mistakes of not listening to consumer feedback. Still waiting on KH3, a turn based RPG by them and hell I'd even settle for a FF7 remake if they find making a compelling story and gameplay system difficult. From what I've seen of this FFXII it does not appeal to me.
