I've always wanted to try to make these delicious deep fried Sesame balls (one of my favorite) but never really actually do it but now I'm going to try it out and will let you know the outcome :). Why do some people use coconut jam? You didn't use coconut jam in yours. What's the difference? Please advise.

  • Is that 1 or 2 tbsp. mung bean filling. sorry for the multiple postings, but your descriptions are vague.

  • How long to steam the mung beans for?

  • How many peeled split mung beans are in the bag? cause I keep each of mine in a jar. Is that 12 0z.(ounces) of beans? Also how much of the Rice Flour, and Glutinous Rice Flour.

  • How many peeled split mung beans are in the bag? cause I took mine out and keep in a jar. Is that 12 0z. (ounces)?

  • moo

  • the way we make it we don't use coconut milk instead we use coconut jam and we don't add mashed potatoes flakes in it.

  • I made this last week, but it didn't taste sweet enough. Today I tried making it again, but this time I added 2 cups sugar. It turned out really good. My kids ate all of it. I didn't have any mung bean so I made it without the filling inside. Still taste great!

  • I had something similar to this at a Chinese Restaurant, on my recent trip to Hungary, and it had a chicken filling. Your balls look great Kai. LOL :)

  • It's called Banh Cam in Vietnamese.

  • or lao people say BOT ET TINH KHIET!!

  • mortar and pistol. LOL

  • i tried these from a book and they came out so wrong! oh well trial and error, il try these ones next

  • where did I went wrong? My pop, and almost ended in the emergency room!!! The oil was spatter everywhere. Almost got a third degree burn from trying to make this.

  • @fanboran Did you heat the oil so high, and then throw the stuff in? LoL. Thats not good. Mines different from this guy's cooking =0 Mines is 2 bags of glutinuous, 1 bag of rice flour, 1 ib of coconut jam, a cup of water (just use the can of the coconut jam), 1 small bag of baking powder, and sesame seeds. Much simpler than this. You add everything together, then you know, roll the dough into small balls, and roll and sprikle sesame seeds on them, then put them in the deep fryer thing and done.

  • @Syaaj17 You'll make a great fortune teller. Yep, I heated the oil until it's hot, then throw the dough in, and less than 1 minute, it started to pop. It didn't even really bloom, it pop first. And, when it was brown, the inside still have uncook dough. Thank you so much for the recipe, but may I ask...coconut jam?? I heard of strawberry, peach, grape etc. etc...but what's is coconut jam? Is it the same as the coconut milk? Do you have a link to your receipe?

  • @fanboran Haha. Put the sesame balls on Medium oil gosh. High oil is gonna make the oil splash everywhere and cook the outside rather than the inside. Its "Yeo's Kaya Coconut Jam". You can find them at asian stores. Just coconut jam haha. I guess its the same as coconut milk. I dont have a link, but I can just tell you how to do it. Ill send an email^^

  • Ahhh, ขอบใจหลายๆเด้อ!! :P I have been looking for a recipe for these alot, but had no idea what their name was in Thai, but found this recipe by accident!

    Very good! :)

  • Oh Man Kai...These are great! I used real mashed potatoes, from Idayeeehaaaahoe, cut out the water, and still had to add a good 3/4 cup of flour, just used regular flour, that sweet rice flour isn't cheap. I love the texture. Plus the bags of stuff I get all seem to be 30 oz. and yours, at least the mung beans are 16oz. Glad I didn't use the whole bag. Thanks again. There's a house down the street for sale...why don't move on over here...?
