Jagger was a rock'n roll showman, and he moved with the times as many other 60's icons did. The Stones were not in to the hippy, easy listening California rock of the 70's. They were more like the early pimp style funky performers. They didn't go over the top like Parliment or Kiss.

With him, they were able to leave their mark during a time when black music was still overshadowed by a predominantly white industry. I'm not a racist or anything, just stating the facts. Mentioning that creep in the same breath as Mick Jagger is sacrilege. In reality, there's good reasons for wearing a glove on the mike hand, because it's cold and you have to grasp it so hard it hurts; while the other hand needs to be expressive. The end of this was with mikes that don't need to be hand-held. Jagger's affectations were the eyeliner, but they were just coming off the Brian Jones era and Mick seems to have enjoyed androgeny.
