...in our own personal ways akin to the larger-scale ones of large corporations, government, and some of the most wealthy? It is easy to see and point a finger at the entities that are notably in excess. But what of our own excess even if this is difficult to recognize and acknowledge? Large corporations can ONLY stay in business if we choose to purchase their products. Yes?? Thus, the choice is ours. So - let local, nutritious, and fresh food be a priority and a right for everyone.
Hearing (and loving) your impassioned discourse! Empowerment to we-the-people! Let's recreate our priorities - clean water, clean air, clean soil - and food first! Let's use our dollars (what are left of them) in other ways that show our priorities as well. How many people are gobbling up mass-produced merchandise at the multitude of chain stores on this day after Thanksgiving?? Are we acting in accordance to our Occupy ideals? Or are we perpetuating the materialistic status quo...
man i can feel your passion ! you almost lost it a couple times lol, you just plain rock! i actually teared up watching your video, xlnt info, thanks for all you do for us!
wow Man Claim down guy I know this idea needs to be implanted into the people you screaming will not get people to really listen Yes I am I have been interested since 1975 but many thought that i am insane If you are inside so you can edit a few seconds of each plants and seeds but you clammily explain that the people needs to grow their know food GOD bless your wishes
I'm voting with my wallet!... I just ordered the catalog... i don't even have a garden right now... but someday... I'm feeling like hoarding seeds... so what.... some day they will call me an "OUTLAW"! Thanks for all that you are doing!!!!!
seedsavers are amazing, heard about them years ago. i will join this year,
Eliot Coleman speaks highly of them too, he's like my organic farming HERO. see tis video on seedsavers and using soil blocks. i just received my soil-block-makers from the guy that runs this channel, Very pleased. arrived in 2 days from ordering.cross country.OR to NY.
The Digger's Club in Australia did extensive trials on traditional heirloom and open-pollinated seeds vs modern commercial hybrid seeds. Interestingly, they found that the heirloom varieties almost always outyielded the commercial hybrids - usually because they provided a longer period of yield - exactly what the home gardener wants! They also tasted better! The idea that we need hybrids and GE crops to "feed the world" is a dangerous MYTH!
I have been wanting to join them for a while now, and will when I get the space and energy to garden. You are certainly passionate, you looked to be on the verge of tears a couple of times.............growing good nutritious food and feeding people with it is certainly something to get behind!! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks John! I wish everyone could hear you speak about growing your own food. I have grown inside over the winter, expanded my outside raised beds, put up a hoophouse and now a permanent greenhouse thanks to watching you and Praxxus. My husband is amazed at the amount of food I have been growing. Just planted leafy greens outside and started warm weather crops inside. Thanks again and I WILL keep on growing!
John Kohler is the person who inspired me to start growing. Great message in this video. We do vote with our dollar and we must reconnect with our food supply. Gardening is a skill that is almost gone - so start growing something today.
john, i hope your enthusiasm and passion for growing food spreads like wildfire! Keep up the good fight, i really appreciate the hard work you put into your vids! Thanks, Terry.
I'm feeling it, so many places could be growing the food we get by invading the last bits of undeveloped land with modern agriculture. I strongly encourage everyone to look at the artwork of world renowned Patrick Blanc's Vertical Garden system. With a little knowledge of drip irrigation we can grow food almost anywhere.

My first adult garden I planted hybrid seeds because I just knew no better. They tasted better than the grocery, but just barely.

Another great reason to grow flowers near the bed, it to attract the honey bees, to help the polination of the veggies you want to grow.
Always help the wildlife, as they will in return help you, we can't survive without one another ; )
