  • Classic film. Scared my hair off. That darn Signore!! Just hearing the music makes me feel 8 years old again.

  • Another great Canadian flick... I agree with everyone this trailer says comedy, but it creeped the hell outta me as a kid, with the wierd creepy house and the guy that wants his magic hair for paint brushes! Not to mention when he climbs into paintings!

  • So there's where Doc Mitch and General Tullius were born

  • This movie, alone with "IT" and "Return To Oz" has haunted me since childhood. The trailer is just horrible, though. Comedy? Yeah, sure, then I laughed so hard I couldn't sleep for a week!! :(

  • @RozRuss I can feel you on those two. Return to Oz was just creepy as fuck.. Especially that woman with the heads and shit.

  • What a misleading trailer. This movie was really creepy when I saw it as a kid.

  • I remember everyone talking about this at school the next day and I felt left out because I'd missed it...maybe I've been better off for it.

  • Im 33 wow, brings back my child hood.....

  • I am 32 and my brother and I used to love this movie!

  • I had nightmares of this movie. After watching it 25 years ago I only just found out today the name of the movie. Reunited with scenes I havent seen in 25 years is a trip!

  • Although as a child I wouldn't call this movie scary, I saw it as very creepy and unsettling.

  • @vill4no me to!!! This trailer does not show how creepy and disturbing it was, with that guy who took advantage of his hair growth and was pputting him on some conveyere belt and cutting his hair for paint brushes or something? thats waht i remember... im 26 and to scared to watch it lol...

  • when I was a child it also scared me and now that 18 years passed... it seem just an adventure movie!! incredible!

  • I LOVED IT

(Didn't find it scary at all)

No one I've mentioned it to has ever seen it.

  • @jpanim8r Same here.

  • @hwagner81 Same with me! I asked my mom because I remember watching it with her a couple years ago, but she had no idea what I was talking about. But the main part I remember about this is his hair coming out of some sort of machines, and children eating it..

  • This movie scared the crap out of me as a kid.. super creepy dude.

  • I always thought this was Lord of Illusions until just now when I watched that movie. hahahaha

  • Fuck hairclub for men Im stopping by Target to get a jar of Skippy!

  • This was one of my childhood movies that no-one else seems to of heard of! Why is that the same for everyone else that has posted too????

  • @sinkingrosemary me too! I was talking to friends about it and none of them had heard or remember it. Such a good film

  • This just solved a ongoing mystery that has been unsolved for 12 years of my life! i thought i was dreaming! Everyone i know i asked had no clue what the hell i was talking about! I don't feel so crazy anymore!

  • Haha my sister & I loved this movie as kids

  • i loved this movie as a kid......its what inspired me to be a painter.... :)

    el senor, hehe.

  • Hey didn't the kid get kidnapped or something and had his hair used for bristles for brushes or something?

  • Remember when the Chinese kid grew the long pubes? Lulz

  • just ridiculous.

  • Oh Harry, you share the craziest shit I'll give you that.

  • @hwagner81 haha i thought i'd imagined it too. And nobody else remembered it but me. I'm going to have to watch it somehow.

  • Holy frak, the father, is that... Commander Tigh?!?

  • @BernardtheGoatRapist IM A FRAKING CYLON.....indeed it is him :D

  • DONT READ ON IF YOU HAVENT SEEN YET....a few things i would like to know for anyone that is still on this link is #1.....what is tales for all #1?...and 2 what the heck happened to the plot on this movie, dont get me wrong i frikkin love this movie and i just saw it for the 1st time in like 20 years, but why did the senor seeing the fright make michaels hair stop growing?and how did connie know thats how it worked to trick him into seeing it? and did connies hair stop growing cuz he yelled stop?

  • only part of this movie i remember (at least i think im thinking of the right movie) is when the ghost is banging the cabinet doors and the kid closes his eyes and cant hear..and then when theyre open he can hear them....freaky stuff

  • IT'S AMUSING! AHA!

  • o.O

  • I just watched it... very creepy! Like especialy the sweet shop part and the bad acting

  • Comedy adventure my ass.

  • I barely remember watching this movie when I was a kid but jeez...now that I've remembered it I'm a little creeped out. Some kids movie!

  • i have the vaguest memory of this movie from when i was probably 5 or 6 years old. this is the creepiest plot ever

  • An creepy, out-of-work art teacher spoon-feeds yogurt to a young boy, who was given a hair tonic by two ghosts and whose hair now makes magical paint brushes, abducts 30 kids and puts them to work in a sweatshop. What else needs to be said?

  • @MrSamPoulos If I could give you a million thumbs up I would happily do so.

  • I found this looking for something else... but my GOD! the happy derpdederp of the VO guy in the trailer is worth scorn enough. but the way that happy derpdederp pimps the movie into something other than the creep fest puddle of depression it is?

I just don't have any more words!

  • Top ten scariest movies of all time. So weird, too.

  • this movie scared the shit out of me when i was younger

  • People would just look at me crazy when I tried to explain this movie..and here it is!

  • yeah.. now I feel like a fool.. this movie scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.. It was dark and scary... this preview now doesn't even seem like the same movie

  • @mikelholloway81 i felt the same way!!! the scenes at the factory when the kid was kidnapped were really dark!

  • @mikelholloway81 i feel exactly the same, this was so creepy when i was a kid i actually thought it was a dream i had, til my sister brought it up.

  • I'm here cause of ij too :)

  • thanks ij...thats for screwing me up. cause now i have to watch this movie.

  • i just came here to see what the crap ijustine was talking about lol

  • @chicklebird ijustine was talking about this? :D

  • Wow this is so wild...how certain bits of art do reach certain folks, and how these things, as little as they seem from glancing, are small yet beautiful examples of how much alike we all are..and that humans, despite class, creed, race, gender etc...can relate to ART, Beautiful, weird scary, everything that this movie was, it STILL IS. #HopeForTheBMovie

  • You'd think the dad would have remembered this solution when he found himself in the unfortunate circumstance of being bald and being XO of the battlestar galactica

  • @hwagner81 I thought it was a figment of my imagination as well. Everyone thought I was crazy. No one I know remembers this movie.

  • "Ghosts can go anywhere."

  • @TheCeltiberian thats what she said lol

  • lol @ all the comments. I only remember about a boy sleeping kidnapped by some guy making magical paintbrushes, I can't believe I found what the movie is called... I'm not gonna watch it again

  • OHmahgod! i accidentally stumbled on this link fter watching the return of tommy tricker! holy crap it was totally wiped out of my mind! i only remember the kidnapping in the back of thetruck?!

  • Try describing this movie to someone whose never seen and try even harder not to sound like a psycho not making it up as you go along. "And the kid yells at his pubes, and they grow...and he smears peanut butter on his head--you know, the solution the dead hobos taught him to make, and his hair grows to the floor. Oh, and there's sweatshops. Canadians. And I'm not entirely sure, but there may also be pedophiles. Oh...and Celine Dion."

  • @sweetprism00

LOL I was totally in the same boat! I seriously thought this was a nightmare I had as a child until my sister started talking to me about messed up movies we use to watch as kids! We start talking about this kid with long growing hair that gets kidnapped.. our husbands busted out laughing like we were crazy!!

I will never see this again! I got the same creepy feeling just from watching this clip!!!

  • FUCKIN PUSSIES

  • I too also remember this \as a pretty weird/ scary movie

  • I 'm from Czech Republic,Europe.Year 1980.This film destroy my child's mind.I couldn't sleep very much nights.Fucking creature, and i hope, that man what did this film, don't working for any goverment. He is devil. And now, after twenty year,i have upright every fuzz on my body. Fuck him!!

  • I used to love watching this movie. I thought the part where the bully rips the guys wig off was hilarious.

  • oh my goodness. this movie gave me nightmares. I also thought it was just a figment of my imagination... as if this was real. Friiiiig.

  • I sure is funny how many people have never heard of this movie. I watched it several times when i was younger. I never thought of it as scary. Does that make any sense? So many of you are traumatized by it.

  • Gosh I sure remember it. I found it creepy but the movie that scared the shit out of me was Return to OZ...I had nightmares for years that the queen was trying to cut my mom and mine's heads off!

  • Weirdest movie ever...

  • This movie sucked. Depressing, scary, dumb!

There is a reason that no one remembers it; virtually no one saw it, and those of us that did wish we could erase that horrible memory from our minds.

  • Oh my god, I am not crazy. I saw this on t.v as a kid. ever since I seem to remember little bits about it about once a year. scared the living hell out me. i would not go in the basement at home for years because of the ghost people.

  • I took my 3 year old to see this in 1988. I had to take her screaming out of the theatre, crying, "oh poor boy... oh, poor boy." Thankfully, she has no memory of this incident.

  • THIS MOVIE IS FUCKED UP AND SCARRED ME FOREVER

  • i was terrified of this movie when i was younger.

  • Many kids killed themselves after seeing this movie, pure evil I tell ya,pure evil.

  • I am astounded that so many people thought this movie was something they dreamed up. What an odd thing to have occurred. I am in the same boat. All I could remember was hair, peanut butter and a kidnapping. Traumatising childhood movie for sure.

  • I used to watch this movie a lot when i was little....i had to really remember part of title name in order to find it. The plot is a bit obscure. Goodtimes, goodtimes....

  • this movie also scared the shit out of me when i was a lil kid...not even funny...i had nightmares...... i couldn't sleep....

  • lol @ everybody saying that this movie was a childhood nightmare, not a real movie. It is amazing that a movie can cause an unanimous response.

  • How WEIRD. I also looked for this movie for years. I saw it when I was 10 years old or something and all I could remember was the guy making brushes and the boy's hair growing out of the house. I thought it was one of the scariest movies ever and to this day I've been thinking it like a couple of times very year. Today I just randomly googled "boy grow hair brushes painting" and the first link was the movie on imdb. Funny but WEIRD, truly weird.

  • Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait... Doesn't the kid actor have cancer? My friend said this movie haunted him because the subplot is about a kid dealing with cancer... Never seen it... Not trying to offend... Any truth to this theory?

  • This is not heart warming. Its a horror movie

  • i remember when this first came on HBO when i was probably 8 or so. i saw it then and it was really weird but i liked it. after that, i never heard anything about it again. i never could find it and nobody i know has even heard of it. i knew i didn't dream it though cause i remembered it clearly and one video store in town had one beat up copy of it on vhs. they are out of business now and don't know what they did with it. but yeah, i totally agree with these comments.

  • I use to love this movie as a kid... I don't remember it being scary, what a bunch of wusss....

  • OMG!! My ENTIRE LIFE I've thought this was an old nightmare of mine! Still traumatized.

  • He should have used Nutella. It's the perfect blend of hazelnut and cocoa. Plus, it spreads on real nice, creating that extra "zing" factor.

  • Looks really cool, I'll have to track it down on eBay

  • why doesn't it mention the scarey part of the movie? the only thing that I remember from watching it was that it was really creepy.

  • the Nostalgia Critic should review this!!!!!!!!

  • I loved this movie as a kid! I wanted to paint magic paintings and walk through them.

  • "It's in the FRAKKIN' peanut butter!"

  • HAHA. The comments here are killing me. I remember being scared of this movie too as a kid!

  • I loved the part where the guy said "You got your penis in my peanut butter" and the other guy was like "You got your peanut butter on my penis!"

  • funny thing, at the end of the movie the main kid says:

"you know what I really discovered in that old spooky house? is that the biggest part of the fright is in your imagination."

i found it quite telling, considering that upon rewatching it, the movie isnt scary at all.

  • hahahaha i have the exact same experience, but i only vaguely remembered the details of it all these years (the kidnapping, being very depressing and spooky, the ghosts, the kid ripping off his wig) until finally rewatching it recently. i'm glad i was scared by it as a kid! it stuck with me for years and i will definitely show my kids when I have any...

  • it's funny that the general consensus is.."this movie scared the shit out of me as a kid."

    scared me, too.

it's like "Return to Oz." weird movies, kids.

  • WOW I've been looking for this movie about 2 years now and finally found it!!!!!!! Like most of you, this movie scared me as a kid lol SAME as turkaderr, the haunted house part and trying to escape. Had to be around 4-5 years old.

  • this movie scared me as a kid..the whole part about the haunted house and the bas guy who makes brushes from his hair.

  • lol all I could remember about this movie was a kid with peanut butter on his head and him sliding out a window.

  • Saw this as a kid in the 80s and want to see it again. I don't recall it being scary. I cannot find it on netflix...wtf!?

  • I have never met another soul, besides family, that has ever even heard of this movie... crazy lol

  • I love how this turned into a Peanut Butter Solution Post Traumatic Stress support group. I'm one of the many who watched this as a child and spent years believing that I made it up. THIS MOVIE MESSES WITH YOUR MIND. Especially the wig removal scene and the dream he has where dogs are attacking him and pulling his hair out. NOT COOL, CANADA!

  • I recently was having flash backs on this movie but couldn't remember the title. Just bits and pieces and I remember being really creeped out. I started thinking the movie really didn't exist and I simply had a twisted dream! finally found it on Yahoo questions and was amazed to see I wasn't the only one with the same problem. This movie may not have been a blockbuster but it sure stated in ones subconcious!! I was five when I saw it!!! I'm 30 now! Lol. What does that tell u??

  • SCARED THE FUCK OUT OF ME!

  • movie way creepier than this shows

  • I don't remember this being particularly scary but I was glued to the screen watching this. I was six or seven when this was on tv and I still remember it pretty well. Kind of odd for a movie I only saw once. You could say it left an impression.

  • That blows me away that you all vaguely remember the film and remember being scared about it as a child... AS DO I!! I can't remember why it gave me the willies, but I know there was a haunting element to it. I thought it was just me being a weird little kid or maybe a bad memory; I have to revisit this... This trailer seems awfully misleading.

  • this was one of the scariest but coolest movies I ever saw as a kid! the paintbrushes that made paintings come to life and you could walk into them! freaky!!!

  • Wow this trailer is sooooo misleading....i had nightmares watching this as a child! it was pretty disturbing with the freaky old man that kidnapped him and feed him yogurt to keep him asleep while he stole his hair to make magic paintbrushes..arrrgggghhh!

  • I was a glutton for punishment though even though it scared me I would watch it over and over again.

  • This movie scared the shit out of me when I was younger!

  • HOLY FUCK, I DON'T REMEMBER THIS MOVIE like that. I just remember, kidnappings for long hair to turn into paintbrushes! Nightmares for 7 yr olds!

  • The lead child actor now owns a well-respected yoga studio / massage centre in Montreal. Trés drole.

  • I spent thousands in therapy as an adult trying to convince myself that these horrifying images I had of this film weren't real now I find out they were. Why the fuck would people show this movie to first graders it fucked me up bad......lol

  • @Goblues1980 stop being so dramatic

  • @corynandmarvin it was supposed to be funny buddy get it laugh haha but This really shouldn't be shown to kids IMO

  • This one and La guerre des Tuques (aka The Dog Who Stopped The War) were the best Contes pour Tous.

  • this DID exsist! we were forced to watch this in 1st grade.

  • @klr181979 lol. Was u in my class in first grade? cause I remember seeing this in first or second grade.

  • it was sooooooooooo creepy when I was child...I want to see it again

  • YEAH! this movie scared the shit out of me when i was a kid! i remember it being depressing and terrifying. i remember something about kidnappings, hair being ripped off his head, ghosts, people falling out of windows... fuck this movie.

  • @flipperbombbaby lmao so true

  • @flipperbombbaby It's true. This trailer makes the movie out to be some cheeky family movie but I saw it as a pup and I was terrified for days.

  • ...ughh.h...

  • Holy crap... I was talking to some friends about a movie I barely remembered... I only remembered a boy with a bald head, peanut butter, and that it royally creeped me out. I'm so surprised to see that I'm not alone in this. This is insane. I'm going to have to watch this again to see what was so creepy. again, I don't remember much.

  • COLONOL TIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just got flashback from the movie I never forget I was a kid about 6 years old, Funny I'm 30 now lol wish watch again and yes was kind scared.

  • I was never traumatised by it like I was by eraserhead. I do remember it pretty well though. Iam trying to find it again to let my daughter watch it :)

  • dude this movie scared me to death as a kid. seriously one of the trippiest movies i have ever seen. it's nothing like this trailer depicts...CrEePy! i would love to watch the whole thing again now that I'm an adult to see if it's as scary as i remembered it.

  • This is a trailer for my favorite cult film of all time, not to mention my favorite Canadian film. I first saw it when I was seven or eight. And, I know it wasn't a dream. They played it on HBO after it came to VHS in the States.

  • I have finally managed to find this movie.Glad im not the only one who still remembers it.

  • Thanks but I still don't understand y every one thought that they had dreamed it that odd

  • @RATTfan95: not dreamed as in literally. More the fact that it's not well known. Also many couldn't recall the title & when speaking about it to others. The reaction was an odd look from the person, which is understandable, describing peanut butter, rotten eggs or none stop growing hair isn't very normal. The fact it was tricky to find & no one had heard of it, It felt as if the movie may not exist. Hence the feeling that many just dreamed it up. That's just my take on things at least.

  • I was reading some of the comment and could some one please tell me y this movie is so weird and freaky because the trailer looks so innocent

  • @RATTfan95 It's hard to explain, you really need to see the movie yourself. The full version is floating around on-line. Depending on your age, you may not get the full effect. I saw it again at 31. It helped to heal some old memories. Seeing it when it first came out at 6-7 years old. It scared me for weeks after & thought I dreamed it. The trailer sugar-coats what most of us experienced in our youth. Again depending on your age. You had to have the childhood experience at the time ;-)

  • @MosGuy What a trip, I am fully intrigued now that other people found this movie to be creepy as a child... I thought I dreamed it as well, or maybe just a figment of my wild imagination.... I remember the kid losing his wig on the soccer field and me paralyzed with a most uncomfortable feeling...

  • too funny - I have the same story about no one knowing what i was talking about. i remember them showing this movie at my elementary school when i was little. we were all sitting in the gym as an entire school watching it. i always remembered the name of it, but no one else had ever even heard of it. glad to know i wasn't the only one out there - i was talkin with someone about it the other day so thought i'd see if i could find out about it and here it is. trailer doesn't do anything for it tho

  • this trailer does not represent the sleepless nights i had as a child after watching this film

  • lmao! so true this movie freaked me out and all of my siblings. we were just joking about it the other day and look here it is and it appears there seems to be a freaky pattern of traumatized kids!!

  • i am 21 now, and have always remembered a slight memory of this movie..because no one EVER knew what i was talking about, i thought i dreamed it up..i finally went onto imdb and asked questions about it, and was directed here..i remember it really scared me as well, but i cant remember why!

  • wow, this IS messed up, i was so traumatized, and it's a movie I wasn't even sure ever happened, so freaky. I gues it DID exist.! :S

  • @rosithegreat I am totally with you on this... I can remember being freaked out when the kids rip the boy's wig off at the soccer game and being very uncomfortable with the whole thing... This trailer is highly misleading. I gotta see it again

  • Basically to echo was everyone else was saying, I asked people about this movie for years and no one EVER knew what I was talking about, and I began to think that I had completely dreamed this movie up. That being said, I remember it scaring the shit out of me as a kid which is why it stuck with me so long. This trailer makes it look harmless, though. I wonder if I was just overreacting when I was a kid.

  • sorry to repeat but its true i had night mares 4 ages lol

  • now freaking way, I actually remember

this movie. I've only seen it once and

whenever I bring it up no one knows

    what I'm talking about

  • This trailer is misleadingly light-hearted.

  • Unbelievable the comments like msdarkcomedy said... Because it is the same for me... I tell people around about that movie that traumatized me when i was a kid... when i saw it i was around 7 years old... and i NEVER forgot that movie!!!

  • Well this---this is a weird looking movie. Who came up with this weird and stupid idea?

  • Comment removed

  • I thought I was going MAD, I would ask everyone about this movie, and no one seemed to have not a clue what I was talking about. This movie was the creepiest thing I had ever seen. Thinking about it now, I dont remember it being a comedy. At least I know I was not dreaming and that I did not imagine this movie......

  • HAH! I knew this movie existed. It's absolutely hilarious so many people on here have felt the same way.

I was quite young when I saw it, but the super creepy parts are the only ones that really stand out in my mind. Oh, and the part where the kid uses the peanut butter to grow pubic hair. =D

  • I remember this movie being very creepy. I could not think of the title, but I did remember the boy cutting his long hair in class and painting his head with peanut butter. Disney channel made some of the best movies. DC is crap now!

  • Pahaha this is the best movie trailer i have ever seen! I need me some of that peanut butter solution.

  • i thought it was a dream i had as well. i looked and they never transferred it to dvd. the nightmares can end for the next generation.

  • i agree, this really scared me when i was little and i could never remember the name. i even started to wonder if it was a dream i had, haha.

this is not a comedy at all, very disturbing for a "kids movie".

  • This isn't nearly as terrifying as Gooby...

  • Trailer's full of incredibly stupid catchphrases.

Anyway saw this movie a long time ago when I was little and it kind of freaked me out.

  • Im 13 and I just watched this movie here on Youtube and I thought it is a true 80s classic even though its strange and really dark for kids I think it is a true classic.

  • It was like a dream. I remember watching this in school when I was a little kid. Im not gonna watch it again as an adult, because i dont want the expierence i had when i was a kid to disappear. But yes the trailer does not do the film justice. It is not a comedy adventure. But a fucked up trippy movie no child should watch.

  • I cant believe it. For many years I really convinced myself that this movie was some kind of dream that I had. Now, not only I found this movie, but I see that you people had this same rare thing that happened to me. I have to see it again. I cannot even remember how old I was when I saw it (now Im 25). But reading your experiences and find that they were similar to mine, its way creepy on its own.

  • @Samael66618 Dude, im 24 and I thought I had dreamed this movie as well, I told somebody about it sometime and they thought I was crazy. I found it at a movie store on tape many years back and just laughed. What a weird ass movie for kids.

  • worst movie ever it can suck my dick

  • saul tigh is in this movie?!!!?!!!!!!!!?!

  • i am totally freaked out. i have been trying to remember this movie as long as i can remember, i'm 24, i am totally freaked out and amazed that other people on here were confused and had nightmares and thought they dreamed this movie. i can't even express my feelings about how weird this is.

  • @billyandthecrystals dude... im 24 as well thought it was a dream as well. i used to try to explain this movie to pple and they would look at me like i was crazy! this is great it scared me as a kid! i plugged in what i could remember into google and it took me to a blog and then here this is crazy!

  • I hated this movie SOOO much when I was young! I was only four when it was released, so I didn't see it until I was six... but I remember my parents renting it without watching it with us. It rates right up there with "Return To Oz" for the nightmare-factor!

  • Like many Canadians I saw this movie when I was young (was 6 when it came out). It freaked me out as a kid & gave me nightmares for ages after. I hated when it went dark. I saw it recently (now 31), it brought back the memories & still find it pretty creepy. I definitely feel seeing it when you're older you don't get the same effect. You had to have the childhood terror, that's what bonds canadian youth. I don't think it was well known outside of Canada. Which is probably a good thing :-)
