G'day coughcool72, i'll try and find out and let you know.I'm pretty sure i watched an interview on Greg Mac' it it might of said what song it was then?Cheers Gezza
@coughcool72 The band is COLOURED BALLS, the song is G.O.D. (guitar overdrive) Check it out here on youtube, there is a 9 minute upload ( full song went for 18 minutes ) ENJOY
Nice one AussieBamBam!! ,Thanks 'Peter'! [who is the Mohawk at 2:17 minute mark of this classic clip] and an old Sharp from back in the day who was fortunate enough to of been at this gig,and has carried on the tradition on the FB group and kept up with his old mates! Wish i was old enough to have been there too! cheers Gezza
(BTW: Minegul-Your old man was drunken loser just like you grew up to be and your Mom defined the word "slag". Birdy- No wonder those Bikies bashed you and torched your bike, you talked the talk, couldn't walk the walk! Hey Botch: Saw a recent photo of you and your missus. What a beer-sodden bag of shit you grew up to be. Hell, your wife is even uglier than you !)
I was with a group called the Carlton Sharps for a while, but we came from North Melbourne and Flemington as well. I got bashed and kicked out of the group because I refused to bash up a homeless guy down the park one night. I just thought the thuggery was beneath me.
BamBam, I also went to Summer Jam. A very hot day and took hours to get in. The 2 guys arrested in the video were fighting and then turned on the cops.
I went to Sunbury in '73 and then again in '74. Unfortunately the Sharpie element wrecked the whole atmosphere in '74 with groups of Sharps just walking around bashing people for no reason.
Remember the cardigans they wore - must have been summer here! They were light coloured, tight and had darker bands around them! Still, it was no fun coming home on the train and meeting any of the teen gangs back then
The history of Aussie music is shamefully overlooked by the rest of the world. How am I just learning about Lobby Lloyd in my 30s? Cheers for posting this.
Im the guy with the Mohawk at 2:17, aged 16.A Frankston Sharp at the time, later that year a Melbourne Sharp. It was an amazing concert. It was called Summer Jam because the last band of the night was to be a compilation of various members from all of the concerts bands, on stage together in a massive jam session. Thats what drew over 1000 Sharpies from the suburbs of Melbourne to the one event, to be there when 2 of our Rock Icons Lobby Loyde and Billy Thorpe jammed together on stage.
It was an awesome sight to see so many Sharps together in one place, and all came in good spirits with only one purpose, our common love of rock music. No one wore their gang identification so there wouldnt be any trouble, and a lot of new friendships were forged between Sharps from different suburbs and gangs, much to my benefit in future encounters.

Id like to reunite with 2 close friends from back then, Bill Sharp from Reservoir and Carol Dawson(maiden name) from Greensborough. They can contact me thru the above site
These weak pricks were only good in a gang of 12 or more.....what about the dipshit in the white dax sitting on the FJ's front wheel arch...he looks about as tough as my baby brother......pissweak on their own...my sister could beat the living crap out of any the weak bastards who appear in this sad film...anyhow, the Footscray boys would've beat the shit out of these wimps, if they'd been around in 1965....
kingazzaman: first, I'm not your mate..and finally, I'm not talking tough, old girl...just telling a few home truths..under my name, and not under some dimwitted pen name like a 'weak girl' does...
Yeah? Take a look around shit-for-brains. You're using your real name because your a fucking dinosaur who doesn't grasp how people use private information about you on the internet to rip you off...
Look around genius, do you see anyone else but you using their "real name".
Moshepotts? What kind of a name is that?
Why is somebody of your age still talking shit like your still in with a chance.
Have another cup of shut-the-fuck and retire you past-it tough guy.
I read that Lobby Loyde's Colour Balls did punk music and styled their hair in a punk rocker fashion and many teens followed the trend, I have to say this totally predates the Sex Pistols punk era, and in this film some of the people even had what look to be mohawks before they were popularised in the 80s. Great film!!!
Nice one, I was part of the Sharpie culture in the seventies it is good to see it documented and recorded as the last original Australian subculture, before we slowly became another state of the US of A. Shame shame shame. Mick
'Sharpies' - A film by Greg Macainsh, this was shot at the Melbourne Showgrounds in early 1974 at a concert with Lobby Lloyd and Billy Thorpe. If you have any footage or photo's at all of Melbourne Sharpies please let us know? cheers Gezza

And i thought the British punks in the early 80s were the first to have mohawks. Looks like the Aussies beat them by 10 years.
