I own a brand new Imac 27, top of the line quad core loaded with memory and 2tb drive, along with external drives. I do video editing and am a professional portrait shooter.
Here's the bottom line: The Mac is not really any better than a higher end PC, which I also own. The PC runs MUCH more software, period. Some of it is useful. Both machines are very fast and you can buy an even higher end screen for a PC if you choose. Either platform can help you do good work and that's that.
i would only consider a mac if first of all they wernt so ridiculously overprices, second they were upgradeable and thirdly decent OS. but why even bother by the time that all happens they'll be the same as a pc.

Eric, I've stumbled upon this old video of yours and I have this to say. I'm going to school for I.T. and it's all Windows based obviously, but I have evaluated my own experience ever since I started school. Windows software comes by millions, and I like that, so many developers and software for it, but Mac is more simple to use, compatible, and it flows it's applications faster than how windows does. The overall feel is easier, faster, flow simple, features are greater in the Mac.

I have two PCs running OSX flawlessly, one is a 9inch netbook, the other is a multi-boot desktop. Apple's switch to Intel processors means the hardware specificity issue is now redundant.
PC hardware reconfigurability is a strong point. Apple have had a front end edge over Windows for some time, but now it's marginal, usability is comparable.
I like some of Apples features but not enough to buy one, they charge for the flash styling.

@dotsona07 as someone who works with 40 + macs OS9 to X 10.5 I can say Yes it is. Mac OS is inferior. Want to do centralized Mac OS updates from a server? Mac's Version is vastly inferior. Can't even schedlue the updates on server. Want remote desktop? ARD is inferior and causes broadcast storms that cripple the network. Want to do Desktop Imaging? It takes 40+ minutes over a Firewire800 vs 20 Minutes for Acronis over 100 Mbs ethernet. No CPU % usage in Mac OSX. No ping in OS9.

@FedoraFTW evolution always means better comes out. I have found from experience though that the better nicer cases are a fair bit more expensive than standard cases. For specific purposes I know a Pc can be cheaper than a Mac. Windows is a bit too open to malicious attacks than I like.

I am able to view Youtube videos on Apples with no problems but on windows XP my browsers always crash (IE and Firefox). My 2008 24" iMac with 3.08 processor has been awesome and worth what I paid, yeah the new imacs now get 3.08 but these days the iMacs are fully loaded that they won't be so outdated when the new models come out....just wait for the new models if you're afraid

Most people are either content with the software their computer comes with, or will buy professional software on either platform.
Microsoft is innovating with the Win Phone 7 series more than anyone else has in the Smartphone area except maybe Apple. It's different. It's not just pages of apps, it's a data centric, visually appealing, easy to use mobile experience.
As for the Xbox, yes, they did get into the game late. Yet who has one of the most popular consoles with one of the best online experiences? Xbox Live is a great service.

In order to improve our computers in the future we need to see that their are flaws with BOTH mac and pcs. Macs are awesome and so are PCs, but neiter are 10/10.

your point regarding hardware is completely wrong.
I have two PCs running OSX flawlessly, one is a 9inch netbook, the other is a multi-boot desktop. Apple's switch to Intel processors means the hardware specificity issue is now redundant.
PC hardware reconfigurability is a strong point. Apple have had a front end edge over Windows for some time, but now it's marginal, usability is comparable.
I like some of Apples features but not enough to buy one, they charge for the flash styling.

@dotsona07 as someone who works with 40 + macs OS9 to X 10.5 I can say Yes it is. Mac OS is inferior. Want to do centralized Mac OS updates from a server? Mac's Version is vastly inferior. Can't even schedlue the updates on server. Want remote desktop? ARD is inferior and causes broadcast storms that cripple the network. Want to do Desktop Imaging? It takes 40+ minutes over a Firewire800 vs 20 Minutes for Acronis over 100 Mbs ethernet. No CPU % usage in Mac OSX. No ping in OS9.

I have a PC, I have no stress or problems. My sister has a mac, its pretty good it's just not for me. And despite what apple soldier says Macs are over priced compared to pc's. he makes it seem like you need all of those programs he mentioned. and even if you did you can find a lot of programs like that, that are open source and free.

Um.. I bash Apple alot. And I think most people know I don't want a Mac. Mac = counter intuitive, and primum price, and limitation, and fake limitations on use. Evey time I buy a Mac to keep up with them as I believe knowing cross platform tools is important I regret the purchase and all the money I have to wast to make it compatible with the rest of my set up.

okay I love your videos...but pc versus mac...okay this is so juvenile...give it up...they each serve to remind each other of who is good at what they do...both have their good points and bad points...having owned both and using both at home and work...they are both imperfect systems...though one is a little more responsive in fixing bugs faster...given that...it all depends on what you need it to do.

@FedoraFTW evolution always means better comes out. I have found from experience though that the better nicer cases are a fair bit more expensive than standard cases. For specific purposes I know a Pc can be cheaper than a Mac. Windows is a bit too open to malicious attacks than I like.

If he wants to go back to Windows then good luck with IE8. I love my Mac. I come home from my work that has Windows everywhere and come home to a Mac. To me being able to use 2 systems is bliss. I get to know the best and worst of both worlds. Each to their own, I enjoy using the Mac software, its bliss. At work I do it the longer way and enjoy the learning experience. 5:16 - its a wheel for the hamster to run around to power the PC! LOL! :D

I am able to view Youtube videos on Apples with no problems but on windows XP my browsers always crash (IE and Firefox). My 2008 24" iMac with 3.08 processor has been awesome and worth what I paid, yeah the new imacs now get 3.08 but these days the iMacs are fully loaded that they won't be so outdated when the new models come out....just wait for the new models if you're afraid

I bought an iMac just before the new iMacs were announced too, but all I did was sell the old iMac on ebay then paid a slim $500 and got an i7 iMac with 8 gigs of RAM (Upgraded from 4) 4850 (upgraded from gt 120) and an extra TB of HDD space. Well worth the price

I've heard plenty of horror stories about the Genius Bar. Nevermind the fact that for the price of AppleCare, one can get accidental damage protection on most Windows PCs.
For $1,300, you can get a MUCH more powerful computer than the 15-inch MBP. The MBP is a joke and is sorely due for a refresh. Integrated graphics at $1,700, my God it's pathetic.
Most people are either content with the software their computer comes with, or will buy professional software on either platform.

Microsoft is innovating with the Win Phone 7 series more than anyone else has in the Smartphone area except maybe Apple. It's different. It's not just pages of apps, it's a data centric, visually appealing, easy to use mobile experience.
As for the Xbox, yes, they did get into the game late. Yet who has one of the most popular consoles with one of the best online experiences? Xbox Live is a great service.
And as far as Zune goes, you just have to get it. The UI and experience is amazing.

Microsoft was a market leader in Smartphones before the iPhone picked up users, about a year after its initial release. Microsoft underestimated Apple, and once Apple got its shit together, they hit them hard. But that doesn't mean Microsoft is down and out.

Also pls. give it a rest with the hardware cost stuff, cause if you put your engine in a cosworth self build the ride would be brilliant and fast, just wont last for 20 years. If you go out and by a £300 laptop today it will do everything you need for the next 5 or 6 years for the average user.
