  • Thanks for the stream of fine videos. A question about your Brownell blueing, you did not, nor say anything about applying a base once you finished blueing to counter the acidity of the blueing. Is that not needed with the Brownell product?

  • so is the metal prep close to the same as the birchwood casey stuff? you said you dont have to be as detailed with this metal prepping, so what do you still need to do with this stuff?

  • Cold bluing does not provide much rust protection. How do you take care of the barrel after the bluing to prevent rust?

  • @MrFederalistPapers keep it oiled.

  • Iraqveteran8888, have you cold blued a pair of double shotgun barrels?

I have an old pair I want to try. m Your videos have been a good help

  • Van's Instant blue is just as good but cheaper. vansgunblue com

  • I tried this stuff As Advertised, don't do it you'll have a mess. But, when done properly as you would any other cold blue, it's Much better than birchwood casey.

  • would this stuff work well to touch up scratches on an ar15 receiver right? (already blued aluminum). and i would guess using steel wool is out of the question b/c itd scratch it?

  • Looks like new Eric, what originally took away some of that blueing was gasoline when I was cleaning the cosmo out of it.

  • How did that spot get there exactly?

  • which bluing is the best?

  • @duemamay Van's cold blue

  • Thanks IV8888. I have a few surplus rifles where I can use it!

  • Do you have any problems with the bluing solution rusting afterwards when you go strait to oiling from bluing?

I find unless I boil the reblued parts they'll rust the very second oil thins on the surface.

  • Here's a tip. Steel wool has oil on it and will contaminate the degreased surface you use it on unless the wool has been rinsed in a degreaser.

  • excellent video! i love the milsurp restoring vids

hahaa, and i like the crown royal bottle covers.

  • Great video and thanks for taking our input to guide your channel. I can attest to the usefulness of your how-to videos, as I have two reblued rifles and one refinished stock thanks to you (all of them look 100% better than before, too). Keep em coming!

  • This video is one of the better ones. You're getting better at your presentation.

  • Another great vid. Im going to try it on a couple of spots on my old mossberg 500.

  • Good job, very professional.

  • great video!

  • These is, in my opinion, your best type of videos. I love this type of thing! Great work man!

  • awesome tips, i am cold bluing my Tula M91/30 and had no idea what to do. Thanks again.

  • Hey man thanks for the videos. You should show a hot blue process using stuff you can buy at the hardware store. Robic lye and potassium nitrate (stump remover).80% lye 20% nitrate or nitrite super saturated solution, prep and boil. I have used this method on some pistols with good results.

  • @lapin71457 I have some different things coming up. I am going to do some rust bluing, and a comparison of some of the most common cold bluing solutions. Some home brew solutions would be cool to try too.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 That would be cool im also interested in slow rust bluing the old fashioned way which is apparently much better than any of the more modern types.... only problem is it takes much longer! (gofigure haha) i have an old gunsmithing book that has a few bluing recipes which il share when i find it

  • very nice , good information

  • Looks fantastic! I've got an old Mossberg 195KA that needs to be touched up in a few spots, and this might be the ticket!

  • another great vid eric.

  • Great videos man. I'm not so hesitant to buy surplus rifles now that I know how easy they are to touch up!

  • You have inspired me again my friend! I had no idea it was THAT easy!

  • You might want to tell people that you have to be careful with rebluing vintage rifles. A lot of the time, you will damage the value of a rifle by not keeping it in its original condition. Always enjoy your milsurp vids, keep up the good work.

  • @gruelin1 It depends who you ask. I have sold Milsurps for 3 times what they were worth after doing a good once over and clean up. Hardcore collectors turn their noses up at refinished pieces, but there are actually a lot less of those people around than you think. Most people want a rifle to look and shoot good.

  • Awesome I'm going to try this on my British No.1 Mk III Lee-Enfield Rifle,SMLE

  • : )

  • it kind of looked like it flowed to the bare area. thanks for posting

  • Very nice! That Brownells looks like she gets the job done........ Any chance we'll get a photo montage of your blued projects?

  • @mlacey56 Possibly...You'll see some good shots of these jobs.

  • Real nice, but I couldn't see a high res 480 or 720 option. It's good to be able to up the video quality to better see the details or your work.

  • @Jazzy78910 Now in 1080i...Close ups of the work will be in the final part. I may make a separate video showing some of my past work...We'll see, but you'll get a good shot of the work I did in these videos.

  • great job!

  • You do fine work!! Great vid!!
