It breaks my heart to see cats/dogs being treated like garbage. Volunteers at Northeast Animal Shelter (no-kill, near Boston, Mass) treat our Gato's/Sato's with such kindness and finding them homes.
My darling Layla (SATO Basenji/Corgi) is a NEAS angel without wings. As my Service Dog, she's with me 24/7. As a Certified Pet Therapy Dog, she's spreading love and patience at Boston area hospitals and schools.
I help at community outreach events, representing SATO'S and other NEAS rescues.
Sounds like wonderful work is going on up in your area. Keep the faith -- the word is slowly spreading, and number of informed people growing. Our daughter adopted two rescues, and her Sato has is now trained as a certified therapy dog. They are beautiful animals. Also, thanks for all you do for our country!
I am Puerto Rican.I know it is not a reflection of my person at all.THERE IS STILL A BIG PROBLEM in P.R. With just very few non kill shelters, under the circumstances.I visit my dad in Isabela and it's sad to say,it is the worst of the Urb. ,how heart renching is that .Hate to say it but I am not going to sugar coat it either. Yes there is neglect every where but it hits you worse when it is your own home,Thank you all for saving them,Thank you SAS, and Thank you Northeast Animal Shelter in Mass
STOP BLAMING PUERTO RICO AND PUERTO RICANS BECAUSE IM PUERTO RICAN AND I HAVE 5 HUSKEYS AND THEY R VERY VERY HEALTHY AND PUERTO RICO SUCH A BEUTIFUL PLACE
Did you come to the Sato Reunion in Asbury Park, NJ. Don't know if you adopted from SPCA or Wag On Inn Rescue. The woman, Adrienne, who captured your dog visited us yesterday from Puerto Rico, in case you did not know about a reunion.
2:22-2:28 and 2:32 are the pictures of my dog being rescued. The next morning, they were going to leave Puerto Rico without him, because every time they tried to pick him up, they couldn't because he would run away. But they got him at the last second and now Winston, originally called Nene, is safe in our home. It has been almost a year since we adopted him. Tomorrow we find out if the heartworm is gone. Winnie is now healthy and happy and loved. May all the other Satos be the same way soon.
@evydude456: My wife replied yesterday. She's very involved in helping Wag On Inn with fund-raising events. We have also been fostering dogs (mostly puppies) for the past 2 yrs. We have two of our own, but very rewarding -- real joy to see them go to good homes.
I made the sato dog video to create a slide show that is shown a some of our events -- help educate people about the awful conditions down there. So cool that your Winston was one of the photos I got from Amigos de los Animales!
@Pizzandraaa Thanks for the reply, and all you do! Eventually, we can hope that rescue groups & shelters will make progress in educating the public about the abuse and neglect that takes place. My wife and I have been working for a NJ rescue group for several years, with many of our dogs and pups coming from PR. The two shelters we partner with in PR are wonderful -- but, of course, it's never enough.
Thanks for watching! You're so right, but unfortunately, similar neglect takes place in parts of U.S. also. We need more solid spaying and nuetering programs.
A truly moving video. These dogs deserve so much more than what they have. With hope in their eyes and love in their hearts, they look to us for help. As the owner of a Sato, I can attest to their wonderful character and joy of life. I applaud this video for bringing the Sato story to so many. If everyone who views it can help the cause a little, it will make a big difference in helping even more. Thank you Wag on Inn for all that you do for so many of our canine friends and companions.
Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who have helped these wonderful animals.
Thank you to all of the wonderful adopters and people who did not turn their backs on these animals in desperate need of love and help.
Thank you to all of the wonderful doctors and technicians, volunteers, and staff who all cared for those abandoned and cast out and forgotten. Bless you and please continue to help. There are so many more to save. Do not give up.
