There's messages in everything from children and so on.
If the parents are present and allowed it and pretty sure signed papers for release no one can say anything.
This is crazy how the photographer left long time ago while these people argue, These people probably just probably gave her more clients. Publicity rules
oh brother. do i agree with it? nope. is it abuse? ABSOLUTELY NOT. let's pay attention to REAL child abuse going on in america. not this. give me a break.
fuck those who hate Jill's work, get fuck you wankers! she is entitle to produce these works of art. so shut the fuck up you sensitive Americans, if these were shown in Europe, Japan, Australia, people would appreciate it and understood it's meaning without evening having to ask the artist herself. so enjoy it. stop thinking so negative.
The anchors got nodules, or just smokes to many B&H golds. So here we are child pageant capital of the world, chastising what appears to be a pretty remarkable artist for taking a lolly away from a child! Its hardly going to scar the childs life and hey! who doesnt love a good incentive! The lawyer wants to fight some real cases like Fritzl or indeed, something that really is horrific like child trafficking. Bill Fallon needs to go work in the slums somewhere Africa for a while and get a grip.
these people are a bunch of losers. they should not be allowed to be on tv. they force there views on millions of people and distort the story like crazy Jill Greenberg is an insane photographer one of the best. I bet if the images were for something else they wouldn't even care about the children. thats what happens when you try and go against the government!! get a life!!
i knw this has been said but kids act and cry, play playstation and cry...this is no child abuse. these people are not focusing on the issue.....the reason these pics are getting so much attention bcoz its true....bush is the devil and the world is the children crying....what about the kids in Baghdad whobag their dads in body bags?
We focus on a fucking amazing photographer but don't have enough time to focus on child abuse, child kidnapping, child trafficking, child rape, child slavery, child labor etc...?
Fuck Americans who think this is exploitation, go focus on some fucking real problems.
America on his best, hypocritical loud mouths with no valid arguments, and when caught on that, just quickly make up another invalid hypocritical argument...fail!
Glad their are some people here commenting, with a reasonable mind.
I DO think this exploitative of the children, and emotional abuse is a serious thing. But I really doubt that a simple act like taking a lolipop will have a lasting effect on a toddler, and they got more afterwards... It's using their tears for her message that's exploitive.
And while it's not criminal, as the women argue, that doesn't mean it isn't mean or abusive. Emotional abusive is especially hard to define and criminalize.
i agree that i want to slap the guy with the moustache...
Children cry constantly when they are young, those children were given back the lollipops and in their older life they aren't going to be traumatised by one minute of crying. children sometimes react like that even when you tell them they can't have something they want. there much more open with their emotions.
Listen you give me one child and I will ask it has your older sibling ever taken away a toy or candy you were holding that made you cry? They will say yes, give me 17 other children and they will say the same thing. I think she is an amazing artist and should not be pummeled by hurtful words coming out of these bloggers mouths, they are to stupid to understand and comprehand the meaning of her art.
Most of her photographes that I looked on her website are very nice, but I just don't agree with this, I could never do it myself, and I would never allow my child to be used for something like this. There are so many unhappy children in the world, it makes me happy when I see pictures of happy kids in pictures, and these ones I did not enjoy or agree with even with the point that the artist was trying to make.
that is kind of (*&*&% , abuse, I love kids, I have been working with them and I am an activist against child abuse but what is that guy talking about, I;m with the people who said "Would you have preferred that Greenberg captured photos of crying children that were in hospital's,war zones,?"
I wish he would go out of his comfort zone to see how important it is to show the pain that our politicians make to world and kids all around the world.
I have a question for Bill Fallon - Fmr. Prosecutor. Your argument is that J.Greenbergs photos/art is exploitative of crying children, and that Greenberg is profiting off of their "abuse".
How is that any different than the income you get from your work?
Would you have preferred that Greenberg captured photos of crying children that were in hospital's,war zones, abject poverty or any number of other venues?
She induced crying based on a temporary removal of a Lollipop, which is not abusive.
I wonder if this would have been a concern for the bloggers if the photographer (Jill Greenberg) had used a different method to capture her photo's? The fact is that children (people in general do) cry for any number of reasons.
Supposed the method of capturing the image of a crying child was not "induced with the taking away of a lollipop, but instead J. Greenberg photographed children in settings where they were crying anyways? Places like hospitals, war zones, funerals that more exploitative?
I also bet a lot of the same people complaining about the kids losing their lolipops don't even think twice when they eat their steak and eggs everyday.
So where are these bloggers that are against this? In reality, the majority of the internet community are liberal but they make it seem like theres millions of ultra conservatives that get mad at every little thing. Maybe I'm only speaking for the Youtube community. Out of all the comments there was probably only two that complained about child abuse. Maybe if she slapped the kid on the face to get them to cry would be bad though. Perhaps a slap on the hand and a nintendo DS would be ok.
mainstream media is propaganda at its finest. orwell would be proud. five people control what americans read in the papers and watch on their TVs. if they wanted smart, informed americans, it would not be a difficult task. they wanted obedient workers who would bow to the state and never ask questions. most of you have readily complied with their hopes !!
There is no such thing as a "white guy". Maybe an albino but come on. I am mostly caucasian, I guess? I am dark. So are most Middle Easterners. Get over race.
It seems that the media reich .... err right seem threatened by Jill's Art. Love or hate her for her political commentary as we all have the right to our beliefs. But to question her as an artist is absurd. In fact isn't art supposed to ellict emotional response? Judging by the hysteria she causes I think she has done a very good job of creating amazing ART.
There are children that are RAELLY abused everyday. Why don't they make a segment about that instead of drawing attention to this nonsense. I'm a photography student, and I just heard a preasentation by a very succesful child photographer in based in NYC where he was talking about using the exact same technique to make kids cry for some of his photos for advertising clients.
hilarious, just shows the american way of getting what we want and when we dont, we cry.
the pictures are beautiful and i thought they were paintings, get OVER IT.
right, JUST A LOLLIPOP, like JUST JOHN MCCAIN, if someone told me obama got elected and then snatched him away for mccain? i would make some agonizing faces too.
Oh please! My child cries when I tell them to go to bed. They've cried when I sent them to school. I guess if I took pictures of their first day of school with tears in their eyes I should have charges brought against me for child abuse. I guess I should buy my kid a bag of suckers, video games, their own tv, let them stay up whenever and let them stay home from school and I will have a happy, well adjusted, non abused child.Beautiful pictures of emotions by the way.

Ooh my God.. Jill Greenberg is an amazing artist and I have so much respect for her. That guy whose talking crap is an ignorant dick who just wanted his 15 seconds of fame. What a lame ass.
people are so stupid, its a message, these kids parents where told what they where going to do, the kids probably don't even remember that moment, people are so idiotic
IT'S JUST FUCKING CANDY!!! Jill Greenberg is a GREAT artist and photographer, and I respect her very much. Kids cry all the time, and this controversy is just proving her point. There are kids being beaten to death and starving and they actually think taking candy away from loved and privileged kids is ABUSE? Dear god!
omg this Sh*t is rediculouse!! they are complaining over kids whose parents are getting money obviousley 4 taking pictures of them crying cuz of candy taking away..wtf?? why dont they complain of kids in Africa or other countries crying, who really are beign abused over lack of food, beign raped etc..stupidist sh*t ever...
What? Welcome done jill? I am sorry but the prosecutor has a point when it is using children as a pawn in a political or for profit. They are using them like they are tools. He also is trying to make the point that do you want to make a child upset? Does this give you some type of satisfaction?
Jill Greenberg is so dope! I cant believe that guy called her mentally ill. Jill is totally right, if you needed a child actor to cry in a movie, directors would have done the same thing.
these kids will very doubtfully even remember this took place. They are too young to experience complex emotions. Toddlers cry, it's what they do. The message of the art will far out last the kids being upset over a lolly pop.
There's messages in everything from children and so on.
